THE MULTIVERSAL CRIMINAL
A/N: This review will be different from others. This is because I have been following this book for sometime now, and I have already let the author know my honest thoughts and opinions. That being said, there are some areas that I haven't spoken about before. So those are the areas that will be focused on in this review in addition to the requested aspect of 'Writing style'.

Book title: The Multiversal criminal
Genre: Science- fiction
Number of chapters reviewed: 25
Focus: Writing style.
THE COVER: 5/5
I know for a fact that this cover has won multiple awards, but even if I didn't, I would say this was a perfect example for a well thought out cover. The title font has been carefully chosen, the author's name is clearly visible. There is good spatial awareness. The colour, the esthetics and the image, all complement the story very well and is extremely attractive. If you are looking cover inspirations, I highly recommend checking this one out.
THE BLURB: 4/5
It is a great hook. It doesn't give unnecessary details and beat around the bush. It doesn't attempt to overly explain the story or the setting. But at the same time, it gives enough details to hook the reader in. One would definitely want to check the book out if they came across it, which is the whole point of it.
This is a blurb that deserves a solid 4.5/5 rating. But the reason I haven't given it, is because what comes after the actual blurb. I don't think you need to talk about the music and how to access it by tapping the button and stuff. It clutters the space and hinders the readers from being hooked by the great blurb that you have written. If you want to give the readers this information, I would suggest putting this as a part of an author's note in the first part of your book, or the prologue. It really doesn't need to be a part of the blurb.
THE WRITING STYLE: 4/5 (FOCUS)
I'll be talking about grammar too, in this section.
What works for this book, apart from it's plot, is the extensive and well thought out world building. It's richly immersive and easy to escape into. The descriptions are vivid and easy to visualize. The author has taken a lot of pains to make sure that the readers can grasp complex scientific expositions. This has to be commended. It shows how much effort has been put into crafting this and that the readers have not been forgotten about.
With so many positives, I still think, this is an area where there is a lot of scope for improvement, especially now that the book will soon enter the editing phase. There are odd choices of words and oddly used phrases that are present consistently throughout the book. I'm not including examples here, because I have pointed each one out in the inline comments. Sometimes, the expositions are a bit long and it could be cut down to be more concise and easy to follow. The dialogues are usually stiff and formal and there is not much difference in voice between the characters. It shifts abruptly from formal to informal way of speaking in some instances.
As for the grammar, it is very good and punctuations are properly used. The dialogue punctuations are done correctly and that should be commended. There are minimal to nil typos and basic editing has been done for most of the chapters.
THE PLOT: 4.5/5
Trust me, when I say that this is a great plot. It is a great premise and something I haven't really come across before. Yes, it has some usual tropes of sci fi but the premise itself it entirely original and something unique. I really haven't seen anything like this. It talks about the story of a girl who is convicted of being a Multiversal criminal and an extremely well written villain who is intent on conquering all. People who are sci fi fans should definitely give this book a try. Check out the blurb of the book for more information.
Any improvements that I think should be made with regards to the plot has already been communicated to the author, so I'm not including it here.
THE CHARACTERS: 4/5
The protogonists' characterisation while being good and really solid, is not something totally unique. Yes they have a little bit of individual quirks, but nothing is explored deeply. But whether it is required or not is open to interpretation and personal preference. This is a plot heavy story and the characters and their growth take a back seat and only exist to move the plot along. Whether the readers want more from the book or not, is again, up to individual preferences. So the readers who really want character growth and development might find the book lacking. For me personally, I don't really look for character growth in sci- fi, I would like the focus to be on the plot but still I would like them to be a bit more spiced up.
Despite this criticism, I have given a high rating because of the characterisation of the villain, Juvo. With him, whatever is lacking with the protagonists isn't seen. He is a well rounded villain, who isn't evil just for the sake of being evil. There are thought processes and reasonings behind his actions to the point of them being justifiable. That is why I felt such a high rating was justified in this case.
OVERALL SCORE: 21.5/25
OVERALL ENJOYMENT: High.
WOULD I READ AND RECOMMEND THIS BOOK? Yes.
