"What Do You Want With Us?"
A few hours later, Ondrej Palat wakes up. He tries to stretch his arms above his head, but soon realizes that he is still chained up, but the tape has been taken off of his mouth. He tries to remember when he had fallen asleep or really how he had, but his mind is fuzzy. He mumbles quietly to himself, "So this isn't a dream...wait, where's Kuch?"
Ondrej looks around and realizes that he is actually now in a different car, this one with a dull, silver back, a fairy high ceiling and notices that he is sitting on a cool, metallic floor. The vehicle is quite dark, so Ondrej has to squint to see around him. He realizes that the car is similar to a small moving truck, due to the lack of windows in the back.
He whispers ever so quietly, "Kuch? Are you there?"
A voice within the darkness answers him, "Pally? You here?"
Ondrej smiles to himself a little bit in relief. "Yes, Kuch, I'm fine. Especially now knowing that you are here. Are you okay?"
"Yes, except I scared of Auston! He betray team! And he have Kuchereon. No give him to me. Why he so mean?"
Ondrej sighs, as the chains clattering along with his movement. "Who knows? Maybe he's the one that caused all of this trouble with the other players?"
Before Nikita can respond, the vehicle halts to a quick stop. Ondrej has to fight to not slide around, but for Nikita, the stopping is unexpected, so he ends up sliding into Ondrej. "Sorry Pally. I no mean hurt you."
Ondrej smiles a bit, longing to hug his friend. "You're fine, but next time, warn me, okay?"
But once again, before Nikita can respond to him, the back door of the car rolls up. A cold breeze hits the two Bolts players and they both squint at the outside to see where they are at. They can see snow swirling outside and Ondrej whispers, "We're not in Florida anymore, that's for sure."
A man jumps up and comes into the area where the Bolts are at and starts to laugh. "How was your trip, Bolts? Does the cold bother you?"
Nikita speaks up, "Go away Meanie! You taked Kuchereon!"
The man walks towards the two Bolts and soon, they realize that this is one of their teammates - well one of their recent addition teammates - Auston Matthews. Auston frowns at Nikita. "Watch your tongue. I have no problem hurting you a little bit more, but the Boss doesn't want that. You'll meet him soon enough."
Nikita shakes as he is forced to stand up because Auston grabs his chain. Nikita whimpers as Auston starts to drag him out of the back of the vehicle. Ondrej hopes that the young man stays safe.
Finally, Auston comes back for Ondrej.
"I thought the Boss or whoever told you to take us to the Marriott and then return to the boys?" Ondrej inquires, glaring at Auston, hostilely.
"No, plans changed, Pally Lally. Now, are you going to give me a hard time like your teammate?"
Ondrej sighs, but maintains his hard look. "I won't, just as long as you don't hurt him."
Auston laughs evilly. "Good." He then yanks the chain up and leads Ondrej out into the snow.
Ondrej looks around and notices that this city looks familiar to him. Somehow, he knows that he has been here before. The city where Ryan Callahan once had been apart of an NHL team. New York.
Ondrej just follows Auston quietly, and looks around him, trying to figure out where he is. That's when he sees the NHL logo on a tall building and ends up wondering out loud, "I'm in New York City, but why? What do you want from us?"
Auston overhears this comment. "Oh you'll find out soon enough, I'm shocked that it took you this long to figure out where you were." Auston then leads the Czech player into the building, and all Ondrej can do is look around in fear, unable to keep his hostility anymore.
"Why am I here? In the NHL headquarters? I haven't done anything wrong, and neither has Kuch!"
Auston starts to laugh. "Oh, but you're wrong. See, your team has done too much trouble, so I'm here to bring you to...justice. Along with some other people."
"Who are these other people?"
Auston smirks. "You'll find out soon enough."
Auston leads Ondrej down a dark hallway and the Czech forward is greeted by Nikita screaming, "NO! PALLY! TJ! VLADDY!"
Ondrej tries to run ahead to see if he can help Nikita out, but he is yanked back by Auston, who snarls, "No, not yet."
Suddenly, another voice yells out, "I don't want to go back to the Red Wings!"
Ondrej hears this voice and he starts to think about this voice. He knows it from somewhere, but he doesn't know where he has heard it before. Suddenly, a bright light blinds poor Ondrej and he screams.
Auston starts to laugh as a voice says, "Hello boys. Good to see that you made it back alive in one piece. But can you please gag all three of them - even though you just brought in the Czech? I'm sick and tired of hearing them scream and I'm certain Pally's only going to backtalk or complain about me gagging his Russian friend."
Ondrej snorts as he is pulled inside, where he can now see Nikita tied up to a black pole at one side, while the young Washington Capital, Dylan Larkin is tied up to a different pole on the other side of the vast room full of hockey memorabilia.
Auston smirks and nods respectfully at the person. "With pleasure, Master."
As Auston gags the three captives with more black duct tape, a figure steps out into the fading light. The figure is of an older man, but his eyes show all the evil that is inside of him. Once done with his task, the ex-Maple Leaf turns towards the older man and smirks at him. "See? Told ya I could capture the two Bolts!"
"But Bergevin managed to capture the pesky Capital...or ex-Red Wing. So, which one of you did better?"
"Well...I got two people..." Auston boasts, before he trails off and spots another figure step out of the darkness into the light. It is Marc Bergevin, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, who has on a large smirk on his face. "With my cunning wit, I was able to capture him. And what did you use?"
Auston smirks at Bergevin. "I got to lure out a Bolt, and ended up getting two of them! Using my wit and quick thinking. Two is better than one."
Bergevin comes towards the ex-Leaf. "Yeah, but you used strength too. I mean, they fought you, didn't they? I EASILY got Larkin. I just happened to use my wisdom to trap him." He raises his head up high.
"Which is better: Brain or Brawn?"
The older man clears his throat, catching the attention of the two bad guys. "How about this? Whichever one of you can kill my next...victim, so to say, will be the winner of this debate." He chuckles to himself momentarily.
Auston and Bergevin both smile, eagerly. "Yeah! Who's the next victim?"
The older man finally steps out of the shadow, and that's when Nikita and Ondrej realize that they are being held hostage by someone they never thought about. And yet, there he stands, the NHL Commissioner...
Gary Bettman.
