Chapter 8

Vader and Valka were still stranded on Malachor. Valka was talking to an Imperial Officer on her communicator, while Vader looked up at the sky, just at the the spot where the Ghost had disappeared from the system. The dathomiri's communicator went off and she walked over to her master. "Admiral Greenwood will sent a shuttle to pick us up." She said in her mystical voice. "Good. I will go back to the cruiser, but I want you to go to Vashka. I have a job for you." He replied. Valka's face twisted into a confused expression. "What do I have to do?" "Ahsoka Tano might have survived, but she's not that much of a threat, but there is someone in Vashka who can make the difference for the defeat or victory of the Rebel Alliance." It took the witch about a minute to find out what Vader meant, and when she did, she smiled wickedly.

Back in Wobani, Iolande was standing in Mon Mothma's office. She was nervous, and that was comprehensible. After all, she had gone into an unsanctioned mission and the was not something that would be forgiven easily. She just stared at the chancellor's eyes as the latter spoke. "You do realize that what you have done could have been prejudicial to the Alliance, don't you , Sergeant Marra?" Iolande nodded. "I know, and I don't wish to give you more trouble, so I'm going to pack right now." Mothma was taken aback by her comment. "What are you talking about, Soldier?" she questioned. The pantoran sighed. "You're going to take me out of the Alliance, won't you?"

To her surprise, the chandrilan shook her head. "Not today, Sergeant." Iolande drew a small smile of relief. "I just want you to understand..." Continued Mothma. "That what you did, was serious and that our rules exist for the sake of security." Iolande nodded with comprehension. "I assure, Chancellor, that I will never do anything like that again." "I know you won't. "Said Mothma before sitting on her chair. "And for me to be sure of that, you will spend a week, working in the dining hall... serving the food." A frown of despair and nervousness printed on Iolande's face. Back when she went to school, she felt sorry for the lunch ladies, who were always being mocked for their hair nets, now SHE was going to be the one that will be harassed by all of the Alliance. "Uh, Chancellor, are you sure there's nothing else I can do?"

"Well..." Replied Mothma, pretending to think. "It's either that, or giving Major Ozelios a feet massage." She finished. Iolande's golden eyes grew wide in fear. "I think working as the lunch lady will not be so bad." She said with a fake smile. "In fact... I think I'm going to get started right now. Have  a good day." With the conversation over, the pantoran exited the office and went to her new room: it was bigger than her previous' one and all her possessions were there... Well, all except her tooka doll.  "SAPPHIRE!" she yelled, and went out of her room to look for her.

A few days later, Iolande was already working as the lunch lady. She wasn't sure, but she thought she might have seen a few smiles of amusement in many of the soldiers and officers' faces. As she was working she heard a mocking voice say, "Excuse me ma'am, could you serve me two pieces of endorian chicken?" she looked up and saw the entire ghost crew standing in front of her, accompanied by Luke, Leia, Ahsoka, and the recently returned Han and Chewbacca. Most of them were laughing as hard as they ever had, only Ahsoka, Hera, and Kallus were trying to do their best not to, as to not offend Iolande's feelings, Chewbacca merely looked at her. "How's been the job?" asked Ahsoka kindly. "Well you lot are the first ones that openly mocked me. How about you?" she answered. The togrutan shrugged. "I've been good. The medics said I recovered pretty well and I'm back to normal." Island's frown changed into a big smile. "I'm glad to hear that."

"Everyone, shut up!" said Sapphire loudly. "The HoloNet is on!" and indeed she was right, the HoloNet was broadcasting in the big holovision in the dining hall, showing the video of a woman lying down on a house. "... The former imperial senator of Quell, Adintho Regor, was found lifeless at her home on Vashka. No external injuries were found on her body. Therefore, the causes of her death remain unknown."

The Holovision was turned off. Everyone in the hall started whispering, including the Ghost crew, they couldn't understand how could the senator have died just like that, but Iolande already had her idea. According to the news, her body had no external marks, so that only meant one thing. 'Valka.' She thought. "Excuse me, Bori?" she called to the chef. "Yes?" replied Bori. "Could you send someone else here? I need to talk to Chancellor Mothma." Bori nodded and Iolande took of her apron and hair net. She exited the dining hall and went towards Mothma's office with one thought on her mind:

'Valka is going to fall.'
