CHAPTER EIGHT

      If someone had told Megumi before today that there would be villains at U.A, then she would have laughed in their faces. But now? Seeing the stream of villains pour out of the portal, she couldn't even begin to laugh. She was terrified, worried and confused. How the hell had they gotten into the school?

      "Huh, villains?" Kirishima said out loud. "No way...there's no way they could sneak into a hero school!"

      Everyone of them had worried expressions. This was never supposed to happen. A hero school, especially U.A., was supposed to be a safe place. Then how...?

      Yaoyorozu stepped forward, looking at Thirteen as she asked, "Sensei, what about the intruder sensors?"

      "We have them, of course," Thirteen said, trailing off at the end as she turned back to look at the villains.

      "Did they only appear here or around the whole school?" Todoroki suddenly asked, everyone turning towards him. "Either way, if the sensors aren't responding, that means they have someone with a quirk that can do that. An isolated area separated from the main campus, during a time when a class is supposed to be here. They're foolish, but not dumb."

      "Then this attack," Megumi said, interrupting Todoroki. "It must have been carefully planned with an objective in mind."

      "Thirteen! Start the evacuation!" Aizawa-sensei instructed, walking to the forefront of the group. "Try calling the school; these villains even had something to counteract the sensors. It's possible someone with radio-wave powers is interfering."

      "Kaminari," He said and the boy with electric blonde hair, tensed up. "You try contacting the school with your quirk too."

       Kaminari immediately jumped into action. But Megumi had the slightest feeling that it was not going to work. If the villains truly wanted to achieve their goal, then they must have planned very very carefully and that meant no communication could even travel outside. That was going to be a big-big problem.

      Suddenly, Midoriya spoke in a panicky voice. "Aizawa-sensei, you can't fight them all alone! You specialise in stealth, and one on one combat-"

      "You can't be a hero with just one trick," Aizawa-sensei said, tilting his head slightly. "I'm leaving it to you, Thirteen."

      He jumped straight into the battle. Some of the villains appeared to be laughing at his 'reckless' head-on attack and some even prepared to attack. But at the last second, their attacks all failed. In one badass movie, Aizawa-sensei took out the shooters, capturing them with his scarf.

      Megumi was amazed, truly amazed at her teacher's fighting skills. 'Why the hell had I not heard of Eraserhead before coming to U.A?'

      Then it was time for the class to evacuate from the building. Everyone started running towards the entrance, ready to make their escape. But, out of nowhere, the purple mist villain appeared. His body (if he had one) looked utterly fluid and continued to move throughout the air.

      "I won't let you," His voice also had a slightly airy quality to it, as though his vocal chords were also in a state of flux. "Nice to meet you. We are the League of Villains. It may be presumptuous of us, but we have invited ourselves into the home of heroes, U.A. High School, in order to make the Symbol of Peace, All Might, take his last breath. I believe All Might should have been here. Has there been some kind of change?"

       Megumi clenched her fists, which were lit up with her white fire.

      "Well, that is neither here nor there," The purple mist guy continued. "This is the part I am here to play." He opened his arms. (did he even have arms?)

      Thirteen got ready to use her quirk, but before she could even do anything, Kirishima, Bakugo and Natsume, all lunged at the mist guy, ready to attack. The attack only created an explosion, leading to a dust cloud surrounding the class.

     "Natsume!" Megumi yelled out. Did her cousin not think sometimes? What the hell was he doing?

      To the utter shock of the trio that had attacked, as well as the classmates behind them, their move had been a complete failure, not even affecting the purple mist villain.

      "Oh dear, that's dangerous," The villain said as he reformed his mist body. After the shortest of pauses, he added, "That's right. Even if you are students, you are excellent golden eggs."

      "No! Move away, you three!" Thirteen yelled. Kirishima, Bakugo and Natsume all turned to look at Thirteen. But it was too late. The villain released the dark mist from his body and it slowly covered the entire area. The mist acted as a vacuum, sucking the students and scattering them just like the villain mentioned.

      "Uraraka!" Megumi yelled out, trying to look for her friend. But in the darkness of the mist, the task was impossible. She couldn't even distinguish between the struggling shouts of her classmates to know whether or not Uraraka was close by. This task was impossible. The dark mist surrounding them seemed to swirl even faster.

      'Damn it! What the hell do I do?!' Megumi thought, anguished. The dark mist was almost blinding and even her white flames were doing nothing to provide her even the slightest hint of light. Just then, her eyes spotted a flash of white (or was that blue? The darkness was messing with her eyes and screwing up her depth perception)

      Her eyes widened slightly, when she realised it was Todoroki and the white-ish blue flash was probably a reflection bouncing off his ice. Or maybe the darkness had really affected her vision and she was just imagining things. Nevertheless...

      "Todoroki!" Megumi yelled, calling out to him as loud as she could. He turned around, also struggling against the force of the mist.

      "Okumura!" Todoroki shouted, reaching an arm towards her. She struggled to walk towards him, pushing against the harsh winds. She let the power of her white flames flow through legs, giving her a temporary strength boost against the mist. She started to get closer to Todoroki, but before she could reach the boy, the dark mist increased immensely, completely blocking her vision. She could only let out a singular, 'Fuck!', as the dark mist enveloped her completely.

      'What the hell is going to happen now?'

      When Megumi opened her eyes next, she found herself in a mountainous region that appeared tilted and had forests all over it. This was the landslide region, which was far away from the entrance. And somehow, she had found herself transported here.

      "Did he teleport us here?" Megumi said out loud. The villain had mentioned scattering them. Then who else was here with her? She had to find them and regroup. But luck wasn't on Class 1-A's side today. Even as she started climbing down the landslide zone, the dark purple mist appeared in front of her and out stepped a bunch of villains. Well, more like five, but still...she was in a hot mess.

      They ranged from looking utterly normal to one having octopus arms, instead of normal ones and one having a bird's beak for a mouth. They spotted her almost instantly and identical, malicious grins spread across their faces.

      "Oh boys, looks like we found our first victim already," The one with the octopus arms said, smirking so evil that for a moment she shivered. "Let's take out this weakling first. She looks utterly normal."

      "Who the hell are you calling a weakling, you stupid villains?!" Megumi yelled. She slammed her right leg into the ground, summoning as much of her flames as she could. They erupted in a circle around her before growing to an immense height and rushing towards villains. The wall of flames made them villains scatter and she was almost relieved but the villains were still conscious. She had to find a way to knock them down.

      Megumi pointed her hands towards them, once more summoning her white flames. She clenched her fingers together, letting the energy build up inside her. Once it reached its peak, she opened her hands again as the villains got ready to attack.

      "White Flames: Laser!" She yelled. The compressed flames shot out in massive white beams from both her hands, slamming straight into the group of villains and sending them flying. This move was probably her signature move; especially seeing as her quirk was often confusing to people who didn't really know her. To put it in simple words, because of her mom's quirk 'Angel' combining with her dad's 'Red Flame Aura', her flames could either take on the appearance of actual fire or be used in the form of a white laser, essentially making her quirk very versatile. But that was not the point right now.

      Megumi had to find her classmates before things got worse. After all these villains came to kill All Might; who's to say they won't kill her and her classmates in their mad quest?

      She started making her way down the mountainous area, making sure she kept on checking her surroundings, especially the forests because if the villains jumped at her from her sides, it would take her time to build a flame wall and then it would be too late.

      Out of nowhere, the temperature started dropping, becoming much colder. Megumi's feet made a crunching sound against the hard ground. She looked down, only to see the ground had been completely frozen over. Who...Todoroki. He must also be here. She started running over the ice, her boots making loud crunching noises. She winced at every step. 'I'm being stupid right now. I should have just hidden somewhere, but how could I just leave someone facing these villains alone? God, I'm totally acting like Dad right now! This is exactly how he thinks!' (But that was a good thing)

      Megumi came to a screeching stop as the ice beneath her feet suddenly started crystallizing further. 'He must be close by!'

      She ran further down and then stopped once more, eyes widening in shock as she spotted villains frozen, locked in solid ice. She winced in fear as she went past each of them. Had Todoroki frozen them all? She defeated just five villains and how many had he taken down? Ten or something from what she could see? Though it was no competition.

       Just how strong was he? Even with just his ice, his strength looked unmatched. As she went further down, she finally saw the boy in question, freezing another villain. On top of that, he was surrounded by struggling villains who were already frozen in the ice. Her thoughts finally slowed down a little but then she saw a villain with clawed hands running towards Todoroki from behind.

      "Look out!" Megumi yelled loudly as she shot her flame laser at the villain. Bless her father's training for her quirk; her long ranged attacks had always been weak, but somehow, this one flame laser landed dead on the villain, blasting him away.

      She ran down quickly, stopping in front of the red and white haired boy. "Are you okay? You aren't hurt, are you?"

      "No," He replied, turning away as he looked away, staring down at the main plaza. He really was a man of few words.

      "Oh, that's good," Megumi said. "We should get out of here and find the rest of our class."

      Todoroki didn't really say anything but gave an imperceptible nod that she would have missed had she blinked. Together, they started running towards the main plaza, ready to fight with the best of their ability.

      As they ran, Todoroki suddenly remarked. "You think rationally."

      "Uh what?" Megumi was surprised at his words, almost coming to a stop. "I guess I do. At least that's what my dad has taught me to do."

      "Huh," He said, in a neutral tone. "Is your dad a pro-hero?"

      'He's talking a lot,' She thought. But she answered his question with a nod. "He's the current number 7, Red Flame."

      "The Scarlet Hero, Red Flame," Todoroki said, though whether he was saying that as a statement or in a surprised way was unclear.

      "Yes, him."

      Before Megumi could say anything further, they had already arrived at the plaza, only to see All Might holding the massive, muscular, open-brained villain in his suplex move. But it hadn't affected the villain in any way. The purple mist villain was holding the two in place. But before either Todoroki or Megumi could launch their attacks, Bakugo came out of nowhere and tackled the purple villain to the ground.

      "Get the hell out of here, Deku!" Bakugo yelled towards the green-haired boy who Megumi had completely missed seeing. "He's mine!"

      Todoroki wasted no time and completely froze the monstrous-looking villain in one move, essentially freeing All Might from his harsh grip. All Might jumped away, landing right next to Todoroki and Megumi.

      If it were any other situation, Megumi would have almost passed out in joy on being so close to the number 1 hero, but right now, she felt worried sick, seeing him clutch his shirt in pain, which had already been stained red. If that wasn't enough, Kirishima and Natsume jumped out of nowhere, attacking the blue-haired villain with hands covering his body; the one who was most potentially the boss. But the villain dodged them with ease.

      Both made annoyed statements but eventually fell back to where others were standing.

      'I'm going to hit Natsume,' Megumi thought with worry, her fists surrounded by her flames. 'That idiot.' She would yell at him later; but for now, they had to fight.

      Seven of them, including All Might, against three very powerful villains (one being restrained by Bakugo). 

      It was going to be harder from now.

This chapter is probably my favorite chapter so far. You get to learn more about Megumi's quirk and also get to see her beat those loser villains. Plus her little interaction with Todoroki will matter later, especially during the Sports Festival arc. Till then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
