Gojo

While I was working on the drawing in the previous chapter, I wanted to start an entirely new drawing. I ended up finishing this drawing before Kuriso because I was very excited about this new drawing. Gojo is my favorite character in JJK and I had to draw him.

The second one isn't any different from the first one, except for that little heart. I only had that there because it's the color of the outlines and I could use the eyedropper tool if I needed to fix the outlines. It looked cute so I left it there.

I was kinda a lazy bum so I said NO SHIRT. I only did the shoulders up because drawing any more of the bare chest would've made me uncomfortable. The collarbones look weird for some reason, but I can't put my finger on it. Are they too high up? Should they be curved slightly?

The FUCKING hair was a nightmare. I already have a hard time drawing hair, but trying to find side profile hair drawing references was very hard. I had to restart it twice because I didn't like how it looked. It just looked like a bunch of awkward banana triangles. I did find a reference on Picrew, and I basically drew the hair exactly like in the Picrew image. The only problem was that it didn't have any shading, so I had to try to think of how the hair would be shaded. It looks really good on the bangs, but the shading on the back side of the hair looks kinda funky.

Another small critique someone gave me after posting the finished product was that the area between the nose and upper lip should be curved more. I wouldn't have noticed this but I did try to fix it afterwards.

I want you to compare the shading on the skin between this drawing and the previous one. See how the one above looks dull and lifeless? I rewatched a skin shading tutorial and it definitely helped. What I did on the last drawing was use the same color as the skin and set the layer to multiply. On here I made a color palette with shadow colors becoming slightly darker and slightly redder and set the layer to multiply. It creates a much more realistic looking shadow in my opinion.

Gonna talk about the eyes in my drawing, as always. I had some trouble with shading them. Up close it looks fine, but it's hard to tell the highlights from a distance. Maybe it was because the eyes were already a light color?

And as for the eyelashes, White eyelashes was (understandably) something I'd never drawn before. How I did it was I drew the eyelashes, duplicated the layer, raised the lightness all the way up so it was white, and erased a little bit at the edges. This would let the dark outline show up just a little bit, to help the white stand out more. I had a lot of trouble drawing the eyelashes themselves (not the "eyeliner"). There are only a few because when I draw a lot, it ends up looking less masculine. How do you draw eyelashes without making it look too feminine?

Here's the main reference video I used to draw the profile:
