CH5- Decisions
As was customary, Uni and Summer went to Summer's quarters to talk. Each new queen got time to talk with the most experienced person in the subject of ruling, as there was much to learn in barely any time.
"So, Uni," Summer began, looking at him. "You have a long journey ahead of you. Being queen isn't as easy as sitting around in a throne and looking pretty."
Uni nodded.
"Many queens over the ages have been overwhelmed by the sheer amount of responsibility alone. You are different than them. You know, your mom chose you for a reason, right?"
Uni looked up, puzzled. "She chose me? I thought it was because I was oldest."
"You and all of your siblings could make great leaders," Summer told him. "Eve knew that. Cory has natural authority and is good at speaking to a crowd of strangers as if they are good, good friends. Tommy is good at strategy, and can make even the most nonsensical plans work. Nick is analytical and sharp, and would be sure to make good decisions regarding the country. Ashlie is strong, trained for battle, but still compassionate and caring. Jon is kind and can make almost anyone like him. He would be able to deal with anyone, whether a traitor, a lawbreaker, a politician, or a peasant, with kindness, patience, and respect. And Dawn has a level head and a plan no matter how severe the situation.
"But you, Uni, are all of those and more. I believe Eve saw that in you. You are respectful, caring, strategic, courageous, compassionate, and morally strong. You looked out for all of your siblings. You helped the people who really needed it. You could see straight through a lie without the use of technology, unlike your fancy-shmancy robot friend." She grinned, and looked back at Uni. "Do you see what I mean? Your siblings all have their strong points, but none of them are you. So embrace your new role, and be the best queen you can be, Uni of Comics."
"You have 24 hours to choose an advisor," Summer finished, smiling down on him. "I know you will make the right choice."
"Cory, get off! It's my turn!" There was the sound of voices and shuffling at the door.
"No way, Ashlie. My turn isn't over yet." Another voice drifted through.
Uni and Summer looked at each other, grinned and tiptoed to the door.
"Dude. Cory. You've been on there the whole time. It's Atlie's turn." Summer put her hand on the doorknob and held up one finger at Uni. Uni's eyes sparkled.
"Are you sure we should be eavesdropping like this? This is supposed to be a private moment." "Oh, shut up, Nick! Uni won't know." Summer held up a second finger and slowly turned the doorknob, pressing it shut.
"Jeeze, Cory, alright. I'll just be back here with Dawn, actually doing the right thing and NOT LISTENING IN TO PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS!" "Calm down, Nick. The cool kids will be over here by the door, while the creamdips can stay over there!" Summer held up a third finger as an exasperated growl was heard from the other side of the door. She motioned for Uni to step back a bit as she got in position to let go. Uni took a couple of steps to the side of the door and took out his phone, his eyes shining with excitement.
"Look, guys. Everyone who wants to actually hear what's going on can put their ears to the door like me. See, I'm leaving some room! So stop complaining and get over here!" Summer waited for the pressure on the door to increase, signifying more people leaning on the door, before she stepped back and released the doorknob.
Ashlie, Jon, Tommy, and Cory all tumbled into the room, landing flat on their faces. Nick stifled a bit of a laugh as they tried to untangle themselves from each other, and Uni and Summer went into a full-on laughing fit. "I got it on video!" Uni cried out, and burst back into laughter. Dawn walked in smiling and replayed the video on Uni's phone, showing the four still on the floor the footage.
Nick started full-on laughing as he couldn't hold himself back anymore. "You see! This is karma! Karma for listening in on a private conversation, even though I clearly said it was a bad idea. Oh my god..."
"But Niiiiiiick..." Ashlie said, pouting.
"What, Ashlie."
"NICOLAS SHOOTSKI PORQUE?" Ashlie cried out.
Nick sighed. "Oh my g-"
"POOOR QUEEEEEE?
"Ashlie I swear to god..."
"What the heck was that for?" Tommy yelled at Uni.
Uni dabbed some of the tears out of his eyes and grinned at Tommy. "You guys know this is supposed to be private, right?" He snorted, and started laughing again.
"Tommy, Cory, Ashlie, Jon, I thought we taught you better!" Summer said, wiping at a tear rolling down her cheek. "You are supposed to be the example for our kingdom!"
"Oh," Jon said, untangled by this point and sitting on the ground. He pouted, sounding disappointed in himself. "Well I guess Jon will just go now."
"NOOO! JON!" Ashlie cried out.
"Yeah, Ashlie?" Jon said, still sounding sad.
"Jon... Jon I believe in you!" Ashlie said back.
"BELIEVE IN THE ME THAT BELIEVES IN YOU!" Jon yelled, bouncing back into his usual cheery demeanor.
"Well, that's charming," Cory sarcastically said as Tommy gave him a hand up. "But Uni, what are you going to do now?"
"Well," Uni and summer had both calmed down by now, but were still grinning, "I think it would be best for me to make my first major decision now. I need to decide the person who will help me out no matter what. And who better to be my royal advisor than my closest friend? Dawn, will you be my royal advisor?" Uni held out his hand to him, smiling.
Dawn smiled back. "It would be an honor to."
Summer, Jon and Ashlie all lightly applauded. Summer stepped up to Uni. "I am sure you will come to value the friendship that comes with the role of advisor with Dawn. I believe that the choice you made was right."
"Wonderful, wonderful," Cory said. "I'm sure this will be amazing for both of you," he continued, sounding a bit more sincere this time.
"And I still will come to all of you for advice," Uni told everyone. "Just like Aunt Summer said, you all are wonderful people, and I want to continue learning from all of you as I get accustomed to this new position."
Everyone smiled back at him.
"GROUP HUG!" Jon yelled, pulling Cory and Tommy in. Everyone gathered around them, and for once it was like nothing had changed.
AN: Chapters seem to be getting increasingly shorter.... But don't worry! I will keep posting, keep updating, and keep advancing the story. Less words means more time to finish homework means less stress means more motivation to keep doing this.
Anyways, tell me what you think of Summer! She is a new concept, and she will be the mother figure in Queen Eve's place. I may go back to do some minor updates on previous parts for those who aren't necessarily part of this fandom, as I want to make it more accessible for my friends, who are excited to read my fanfiction (cough, _MusicalFangirl , cough)
If you have any questions you want me to answer, any OCs you want to submit, or even if you just want to chat, comment on this or send me a message! All of you guys' comments make my day, so thank you very much.
