Training
Shoto sighed. He laid in his room, glancing at his phone, only to get a notification from the group chat. He opened it up, watching as messages rolled in.
{1A}
Sea Salt: Hello bitches
Engine: Refrain from using such language!
Hypnos: How's everyone doing after the Sports Festival?
Peppermint: Good. My siblings congratulated me.
Alien Queen: Doing amazing!
Deku: Great
3D Printer: Excellent!
Earphones: Doing alright
Invisible: I'm fine as well
Sparkles: Magnificent!
Tape Dispenser: A few people recognized me on the way home
Explosion Murder: No shit! Now they know what a real pro in training looks like!
Peppermint: Hey, just throwing this out there, but a friend invited me to train. She asked if anyone else would care to join us.
Deku: You made friends! I'm so proud!
Tail: Really? I didn't think you'd be able to manage it.
Peppermint: She asked. She also called out Endeavor.
Sparky: She did what?!
Kermit: Wow, kero
Explosion Murder: Now I've gotta meet this chick! Not just anyone is ballsy enough to talk shit to Endeavor!
Sea Salt: Who is it?
3D Printer: I must admit, I am curious as well.
Shoto hesitated. He knew that Kanamaru hadn't had the best beginning with 1A, and he didn't want to cause anyone to fight. However, this was 1A. They were above that.... Well, everyone but Bakugo, but Bakugo will fight everything with a perceivable pulse.
Peppermint: Kanamaru. We'll be meeting at her place.
.
Shoto stared at the large mansion in front of him, the gate making him feel poorly underdressed. He raised a shaky hand, ringing the doorbell.
A camera popped out, a voice saying "Who is it?"
Shoto stiffened, saying "S- Shoto Todoroki. I'm one of Kanamaru- er, one of Masae's classmates."
The voice turned more cheerful, the woman on the other end saying "Oh! Todoroki! Masae's best friend!"
In the background, Shoto could make out Masae's voice, the girl yelling out a flustered "Mom!"
The camera disappeared, the gate opening. Shoto slowly walked up to the front door, Masae opening it quickly.
"Hey, Todoroki...." She said, her golden hair put into a bun for the time being.
"Please, just call me Shoto. If I'm going to be stuck calling you by your first name, I should extend the same courtesy. Also, you already know more about me than even Midoriya knows." Shoto responded.
Masae nodded, leading him inside. The mansion was.... Well, Shoto thought Aoyama would love it. Gold, black, and purple filled everything in his vision as he followed Masae, the girl sighing.
"You like it? It's.... Probably not as glamorous as anything Endeavor could afford."
Shoto stared at her, saying "You're beautiful."
Masae appeared to blank.
"What?"
"It's beautiful." Shoto quickly reworded. "Endeavor's not one for glamour. He thought we'd be spoiled. This is much better than anything he could've done."
Masae nodded. She then led him into a large room, targets, punching bags, and training dummies inside it.
"Here we are! My training room!" She said confidently. She smirked, saying "Now you can see my skills!"
Shoto took a seat on a bench. He heard a ding on his phone, looking down to see a message from Midoriya.
{Deku}
Deku: The class and I ran into something last minute. Have fun!
Shoto could already tell Ashido was behind this, paling slightly.
You: Deku.
You: Deku, you bitch.
You: This is Ashido's doing, isn't it?!
You: DEKU?!
"Is everything alright?" Masae asked him.
"Everything is great." Shoto said blankly.
Masae summoned a bow and arrow with her quirk, aiming it. She released it at a target, the arrow missing by a long shot.
"Damn it!" She hissed. "I can never figure out this stupid bow! What good is a quirk that has to do with weapons if I can't use the fucking weapons?!"
Shoto walked up behind her, saying "Make another arrow."
Behind her, he reached forward, placing one hand on her back to straighten her posture, the other reaching out a touch her wrist.
"Keep your back straight." He instructed. "It'll help with the aim. Pull your hand back as far as it'll go, okay?"
Masae nodded.
"Take deep breaths." He told her. "Feel yourself focus, the touch of the arrow, the feeling of your muscles as you get ready to release...."
Masae closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath.
"Now.... Fire."
Masae released her hold on the arrow, the shot flying through the air, landing a bullseye. She grinned, lowering the bow to her side.
"How do you know so much about shooting these?" She asked him, curious.
"It was something so did when I was younger. It was supposed to help me focus, but I never had a use for it." He explained.
A golden light lit up on her arm, Masae tossing him a bow, letting a dozen arrows fall to the floor.
"Go on.... Let's see who can hit more targets!" She challenged.
"I thought the goal was to learn to shoot non-human targets?" Shoto said.
"The targets aren't human." She replied.
Shoto shook his head. He was above this. He wasn't going to-
"If you win, I'll tell you about my ice skating."
Three arrows were prepped at once, Shoto firing all three, hitting his target dead center.
"Wh- that's cheating!" She yelled, releasing a few arrows of her own.
"In the words of Shinso: skill issue."
"Skill issue my ass!"
*A few minutes later....*
Masae glared at the target, one of her eyes twitching. Her arrows had hit the target, sure, but Shoto? His arrows somehow all hit the center.
"So," Shoto said, gaining her attention. "Ice skating? I didn't think you'd be into it."
Masae shrugged, saying "I do it in my free time. I love it even more than training my quirk. Even did a few competitions!"
"I see." Shoto nodded.
"Hey, I actually have one next weekend. You should come and watch! You can bring your siblings too!"
Shoto stared at her for a moment.
"I might be busy.... Actually, no. I'll clear my schedule. I'll be there."
Shoto did his best to ignore his quickly beating heart.
