*dress that Maddie wore*

Chase brought me to one of the local shops, still within the pack. I was reminded that their pack was indeed rich and strong because they had a lot of shops. I knew that most packs did not have their own centres within their packs.

I was still arguing with him that I didn't need a... a dress. I've never worn a dress before, not even a skirt. Dresses were for pretty and elegant ladies. For those who looks like they can't even hurt an ant.

I'm not like that. Besides, I've rarely seen people wear dresses. The rogue community wasn't really keen on fashion.

As we walked from the pack house to that little clothing shop, everyone that passed us by stopped and gave reverence to their Alpha, but not before casting a curious look towards me. Not only that, I noticed that the females added a look of contempt.

It took me all I had to stop myself from jumping at them scratching them, but like Kasen, Chase was quick to calm me down and drive the onlookers away.

As Chase opened the doors, I heard a chiming sound. I noticed a hanging decoration swaying and as it dangled against each other, it made sounds. Interesting.

My nose immediately picked up a flowery scent, one that was going to calm you. Somehow, I didn't like it.

I looked around the place. It was cozy and the scent filled the air. The place was obviously filled with clothes, women's clothes to be precise. I have never seen clothes so pretty before, no-- I have never seen that many clothes before. There were shirts, pants, dresses, skirts with all sorts of designs and colours. That was actually possible.

It didn't take long before I heard steps and Chase and I turned. A girl with curly blonde hair emerged from the corner. I kid you not when I say that she is a doll.

This girl had curly golden locks, eyes as bright as her hair, her face was small, but well defined. Her skin was so clear and bright, but in the very best way possible. She was wearing this very light pink dress that matched her so well.

I've never seen a girl so pretty. She had a big smile as she entered the scene, but that immediately dropped when she saw me.

She switched looks from me to Chase and I sensed something different this time.

Chase seemed to tense up a bit, but he still forced a smile. Forced a smile, I tell you.

This man could be really fake when he wanted to be, but from the few weeks that I've known him, he wasn't the one to fake a smile.

My heart tightened a tad bit while looking at them stare at each other. Like hello? I'm here, in case they didn't notice.

Chase was the first to break the trance between their own world. "Lizzie, how are you?" he asked.

Blondie shook her head, as if forcing herself back to reality, and returned the smile first to Chase and then to me. "Great, I've been... me. And she is?" Lizzie points to me as she nears me.

For some reason, I felt really threatened by her. As if she was going to take something from me and I had to protect it at all costs.

"This is--" I cut Chase off.

"Don't mind the small stuff, I'm just me."

Lizzie looked at me for a bit, probably trying to process my answer. I could see the question marks that were orbiting around her pretty small head, but she didn't have the courage to ask them.

Ha, weakling.

"Anyways, we're here to pick up a dress for her. Anything's fine as long as it makes her look decent." Chase says with his usual jolly voice.

I immediately turn to him and glare him. I really wish looks could kill right now, and I wouldn't have to worry on how to get rid of this pesky thing called my mate.

Lizzie was still staring at me and that seemed to annoy me more. "Well? Let's get this over with, if you don't mind." I say harshly towards her which surprised me too.

Wow, attitude much?

Why am I being like this?

"Ah, I-I'm sorry. How about you look around first to see if there's anything you like?"

"There isn't any." I turned around and muttered under my breath as I rolled my eyes.

"What?" Lizzie questioned with her oh-so-melodious voice.

_____________

As predicted, I didn't like any of the clothes that were in that shop, but then I think I just really didn't like the girl so whatever she recommended me, I rejected. At one point, I was getting more and more snappier and I was getting mad at myself for being so.

Sure, I had a short-temper, but never without reason. However, just remembering the way she and Chase looked at each other was enough to heat my head up although technically, I shouldn't even be getting mad about that.

I'm starting to get confused by my own reactions and emotions.

I sighed as I put on the dress that Chase got for me. In the end, I chose a long cream dress long dress just to get the shopping done and get out of there.

It felt weird wearing a dress, it was so... light?

I felt so free when I was moving and I wasn't used to it so I still made sure to wear by band where I hid my knife on my right thigh.

You could never be too safe.

I wore the pair of sandals that Chase also bought for me which I also didn't feel comfortable in.

Why can't I just wear my normal clothes?

A knock on the door at exactly 6PM and I knew it was Chase outside from his scent. I got up from the bed and went to open it.

Chase's smiling face greeted me and he upon sight of me, his smile widened. He had his hair fixed so the unruly hair didn't stick out. He was wearing nice and formal clothes too and I had to say, he looked the more dashing.

He stared at me for a few while before I crossed my arms again against my chest and raised my eyebrow at him. "What? Can't I stare at you for a little while longer?"

"Let's set this straight, pack wolf. You're not allowed to look at me for more than three seconds or there'll be consequences to pay."

My threat didn't seem to work because then his smile just changed. "Ah, I better prepare myself for those consequences then." he says. I groaned, shaking my head.

Impossible.

It didn't take us long to get to his parents' house. It was only a good ten minute walk from the pack house, but as soon as we arrived there, I noticed that it was the only house within the vicinity. If not, it was purposely away from where pack wolves' houses.

Their house quite big, not bigger than the pack house, but definitely too big for four people to live in. Well, it is the Alpha's house after all.

As soon as we arrived at the doorstep, the door opened and Kasen's face beamed. Not too long after, a man and a woman came out, I assumed they were the siblings' parents.

Chase had earlier mentioned that they retired early and that they were in their late fourties, however looking at them, they didn't look their age at all. They still looked fairly young.

Their dad was as tall as Kasen, still had his Alpha stance despite being a retired one, and had same eyes as his two sons.

Their mom was a sweet looking brunette who was comparatively shorter than her mate. As she smiled at me, I could see that that is where Chase got his smile from.

"Goodness, finally the day has come!" their dad said as they literally pushed Kasen away from the door so they could greet me.

"Isn't she such a beauty!" their mom said. I could see that she was on her way to me and I could predict she was about to come and give me a hug.

Oh gosh, please no.

As if reading my mind, Chase pulled me away before his mom could get a hold of me.

"Now, now, calm down mom and dad. How about we first go inside, don't scare her." Chase said. His mom was quick to have a disappointed look.

She seemed like such a lovely lady, a doting mom.

I wonder, was my mom like that?

She abandoned you, I reminded myself.

I step inside their mansion and couldn't help be in awe. The outside would already be enough to have someone drop their jaws, but the inside. Wow.

I didn't have time to do some sightseeing because I was immediately led to the dining room, which was as grandiose as the places we passed by in their house.

Arriving at the table, I pulled out the chair and sat down. I heard Chase sigh beside me and when I turned to him, he shook his head. In response, Kasen chuckled from the other side.

Their father sat at the head of the table while his mate sat on his right side and beside her was Kasen. On his left side, Chase sat and I was naturally beside him.

"I'm sorry, dear we didn't mean to shock you, we were just excited to meet our son's mate." the retired Alpha apologized and smiled at me. I could sense that he was strong, probably even stronger in his primer days, but nonetheless, strong.

I shook my head. "It's no problem." I answered curtly.

"Chase, son, why don't you introduce her to us now?" their mom said again, staring at me with stars in her eyes. Chase chuckled lightly and turned to me.

"Mom, dad. This is my mate, her name is Maddie." Chase said briefly as he motioned his hands from his parents to me. I mean there wasn't anything else to say. Next, he motioned his hand from me to his parents. "Maddie, meet my parents. This is my dad, Philipp and my mom, Lucy."

It was weird, this whole set up is weird.

Nonetheless, I pushed myself to shoot a smile. "Nice to meet you."

"The pleasure is all ours, Maddie."

"So, what pack do you belong to, Maddie? I can't seem to determine it." the retired Alpha remarked. Although he was asking nicely, I knew that he was starting to question me.

"Maddie is--"

"I'm a rogue sir." I admitted, without letting Chase finish his line again.

Lucy, who had started on a piece of bread chocked as she took a bite. Kasen was quick to pat her back and gave her water. Her mate was quick to comfort her too.

"P-pardon?" she asked as she asked me, her smile gone. Chase cast a sideway glare at me as if I made a mistake.

"Yes, mom. Maddie is a rogue." Chase repeated.

Philipp sighed heavily as clasped his hands together and rested his elbows on the table.

"Well, isn't this interesting. An Alpha whose mate is a rogue?" he questioned while slowly turning his head towards Chase.

There was a few minutes of silence and the welcoming atmosphere that was earlier is now gone. It was now gloomy and heavy, just the one I'm used to.

As expected, even if I was the current Alpha's mate, there' no way this pack would welcome a rogue as a part of them. Well, the feeling's mutual. I don't want to be a part of them either.

"Well then, all I can say that the journey won't be easy, but you both have to stay strong, alright?" Lucy said. My eyes widened, what did she say?

Wasn't she going to throw me out of her house? Hate me? Put me to prison like her son did? I'm a rogue, their mortal enemy.

"Yes, it will be a hard path, but I think you can become a fine Luna with enough training." Philipp also said, but this time, he smiled encouragingly.

I froze.

What did he say?

Did I hear him right?

Luna?
