Chapter One, Arriving at Sunspear

Finally after an arduous journey the brilliant white sandstone castle of Sunspear appeared on the horizon with the orange banners with a red sun with a golden spear through it, lightly flapping in the light summer's breeze. The crystal blue seas were as still as cut glass; so unlike how they were a few days ago during their trip from King's Landing. However, it wasn't just the weather that made the journey so difficult. News had got out that Visenya had escaped the King's Landing massacre, which didn't sit well with the Lannisters' or the Usurper. Assassins had been sent to kill the poor four year old who had already gone through too much.

The attempts had been so rigorous - ever since news had spread to all of Westeros that the Late Queen Rhaella Targaryen had named her granddaughter, Visenya, the rightful Queen of Westeros and Robert Baratheon was nothing but a Usurper and a traitor - which caused Sirs Arthur Dayne and Barristan Selmy, Lasa and their carefully handpicked crew to be extremely cautious, often ending up killing those who threatened the young girl and even casting spells for protection (in Lasa's case).
"Sweetheart," Lasa coaxed the young girl who was on hip and resting her head on Lasa's shoulder. But Visenya didn't speak, just watched the port of Sunspear grow closer and closer, a castle she knew her uncles, aunt, cousins and Aelyx and Anysa were safely waiting for them.

Visenya had been sparse with her conversations ever since she felt her elder twin Rhaenys die along with her mother, younger brother, father and grandfather. Halfway through their journey they had received news that Visenya's grandmother Rhaella had passed away after delivering her aunt Daenerys, but not before naming Visenya the rightful Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. It had come as quite a shock to the grieving four year old (who didn't really understand what was going on, despite being rather smart, intuitive and her Dragon Dreams) when the entire crew, Arthur, Barristan and Lasa had knelt with their swords resting over their knees as they pledged their loyalty and service to her. She had also been upset that her doting uncle Viserys couldn't be with her.

"Everything is going to be alright, darling. I swear it. I will make it so and so will your uncles." Lasa swore, kissing Visenya's forehead as they pulled into the port where Aelyx, Ellaria, Oberyn, and their four oldest girls (Obara, Nymeria, Tyene, and Sarella) were standing with Anysa and Arianne while their four youngest were in the castle with their maids, uncle and cousins Quentyn and Trystane. Despite being well able to protect themselves a small garrison stood with them for not only their protection but Visenya's as well.
"Mum! Vis!" Anysa exclaimed excitedly, bouncing on the balls of her feet as Lasa appeared over the edge of the ship.

Acting quickly, Aelyx rested a restraining hand on his daughter's shoulder stopping her from running towards her mother and pseudo cousin as they made their way down the gangway. A small wobbly smile appeared on Visenya's lips as her other cousins joined in the cheers before it disappeared. A frown marred Oberyn's and Ellaria's faces as they saw the once bright amethyst eyes now dull and full of tears. Despite losing his baby sister in the massacre and his niece and nephew he knew Visenya was suffering more. Not only because of her young age but also because she had Dragon Dreams depicting the events which would take a toll on anyone let alone a four year old, but because she had a twin bond with Rhaenys.

No one, other than Ned Stark would be able to know how Visenya feels to some degree (although, Oberyn and Ellaria hated Lyanna Stark as the war was all her fault along with Rhaegar); but what they hated more was that Visenya would have felt the crippling fear, and the pain from her sister before she felt the bond snap as Rhaenys scummed to her severe injuries. Shaking his head mentally to rid himself of those thoughts Oberyn offered his sweet niece and her protectors a welcoming smile as relief filled him as he saw she was physically unharmed.
"Oh, my sweet fiery niece!" Oberyn crooned, stepping forwards to brush some jet black hair out of Visenya's face. "You're safe now, everything's going to be alright."

"Thank you all for bringing Visenya back home safely. You will all be greatly rewarded." Ellaria spoke to the crew.
"Thank you, my lady, but we have all sworn our allegiance to the young Princess. She is the rightful Queen of Westeros." The ship's captain, Sir Talaegor Velaleos, a knight from House Velayron.
"Well, then your allegiance will be greatly needed in the times to come." Oberyn spoke, somehow still looking fierce with Visenya now on his hip while Lasa was reacquainting with her husband and daughter.
"Prince Oberyn, we regret that we couldn't get Princess Elia, Princess Rhaenys and Prince Aegon out, but Sir Arthur and I promised Princess Elia we would always protect Princess when we became her sword shields, and we intend to live up to that promise."

"I am glad to hear that." Oberyn said with a tense smile. "For now we shall leave this conversation here and head back to the castle so you can rest after your arduous journey, and my niece needs rest." Oberyn cast a side glance at Visenya in his arms who was almost asleep now that she was surrounded by people she knew feeling a semblance of safety after all that occurred recently. "But know this, anyone who betrays my hospitality, betrays my niece will know why I'm known as the Red Viper of Dorne!" Oberyn added fiercely, his voice hard and cold a complete contrast to the warm weather of Dorne. Casting a glare over all gathered Oberyn turned and led the way back to the castle as a fierce protective desire gripped him.

He knew the journey ahead was going to be hard but he would do anything to keep Visenya safe. For now he would dedicate himself to continue training Visenya so she'll be able to protect herself. All of Westeros would regret ever betraying his family and the Targaryens.
