CHAPTER ONE —
( Kingdoms have fallen, angels be calling )

────────────────

In the Edwards household, mornings were always unusual. Three different women lived there: a cheerful shop owner, a hotheaded firefighter, and a imaginative ten-year-old child. Daisy Edwards had inherited her vivid imagination from her mother, who had always encouraged her to be different. It was as if there was something in her blood telling her, "You're not a normal human. You're special."

The days always started the same way, with all three of them waking up at different times and eventually meeting in the same room for breakfast. Aella, the firefighter, always woke up first because her job required her to be at work just before eight. Luna was next. She had her own job to prepare for, but at the same time, she had to make sure that Daisy got up in time for school.

Luna entered the kitchen after waking Daisy and spotted a pre-made coffee on the middle of the bench. Aella was seated at the dining room table, and as Luna's eyes gazed in her direction, Aella saluted as if to say, "You're welcome." Luna grinned as she picked up the mug and then went to the dining room table, waiting for Daisy to appear after getting changed. "Good morning, Aella."

Aella nodded, her eye bags dark and her face clear from any emotion. She was not a morning person. "Hey, Luna."

As Daisy entered the room, Luna turned and sat in the chair across from Aella. "Alright, darling, how would you like your hair done today? Just a reminder: I'm only good at braiding."

Daisy giggled. "I know, Mom. And you can barely do them well."

Luna faked gasped as her daughter continued to giggle. "Excuse you, miss. I do lovely braids, thank you very much."

The brunette began brushing through her daughter's brown hair, removing all the knots before starting to braid it into a small bun above the child's head. Aella picked up her plate with bacon on it before, stood up from her chair, and walked into the kitchen to put all the dishes in the sink. "Well, I'm off to work," the woman said. She pulled up her suspenders and then began to put her boots on. "I hope the shop isn't too busy today."

Luna chuckled as she began to place Daisy's hair into a bun. "The shop's hardly ever busy, but thank you. And keep safe. I hope there aren't any fires to worry about today."

"Me too," Aella spoke, then walked up to Daisy and pinched her cheeks with a smile. "Have fun at school, Daise."

Daisy slapped the woman's hand away with a laugh. "I told you to stop pinching my cheeks, Aella."

"And yet I do it anyway," Aella responded with a grin.

Luna chuckled and shook her head. "I swear, you two sometimes act like siblings."

"Do not," the two replied at once and then grinned. "Anyway, see you later." Aella saluted both of them and then exited the apartment.

"And the final touch." Luna placed a small daisy clip into the girl's bun and patted her shoulder. "And that's you done. Now go fetch your schoolbag, and I'll grab your lunch box and head off to Granny's, okay?"

"Yay! Thank you, Mom!" The girl cheered and then ran down the corridor, leaving Luna shaking her head with a large grin.

The two Edwards girls sat in a booth at Granny's, sitting opposite each other. They talked and laughed about random stories, how school had been going, and some of the residents in Storybrooke. Ruby smiled at the two as she placed a plate of their usual breakfast: scrambled eggs and bacon on toast. One had a hot chocolate, while the other had a black coffee with two sugars. Once they finished their breakfast, Luna placed her elbows on the table and stared at her daughter, her eyes wide and doe-like with a slight smirk.

"Have you forgotten something this morning?" she questioned her daughter, which immediately made the small girl frown.

"I don't think so." Luna turned to the side and rummaged through her bag, pulling out a small necklace with a dragon pendant. She held it up for her daughter to see with a raised brow, and Daisy instantly grimaced. "Oh, yeah. That."

"You can never leave the house without this. Remember why?"

"Because it's full of magic that'll keep me protected from dangerous people in the outside world," Daisy responded as if she had heard her mother ask her that question thousands of times.

Luna smiled. "That's correct, and it's also a family heirloom that used to be your grandmother's and then mine and now it's yours."

Daisy then frowned as she took the necklace from her mother and looked down at it. "But why is it a dragon? Why isn't it something pretty like a flower or even a heart?"

"That's because dragons are fierce, powerful, and strong, my beautiful girl. And this shows that us Edwards women are just that, no matter what anyone else says."

"Then why does Aella have a dragon necklace as well?" Daisy asked. "Is it because she is strong and powerful?"

"Of course, she is, but she is also a part of our family," Luna explained. "Maybe not by blood, but certainly by heart."

"And you have your ring?"

Luna gazed at the silver ring on her right middle finger. The ring was adorned as if it were the scales of a dragon, encircling her finger twice with a dragon's head at the top and a red crystal as the centrepiece. "That's right," she replied with a frown, lost in thought, as she looked at her ring. It appeared magical and expensive, but she had never asked her mother how much it had cost when she bought it, and she didn't want to inquire about its value from Mr Gold, the owner of a pawnshop, either.

The sound of the bell above the entrance to Granny's diner chimed loudly, causing Luna and Daisy to look up at who had entered the diner in such a hurry. Wearing a pencil skirt with a blouse and heels, the Mayor, Regina Mills, hurried into the diner in a panicked state and searched the place before her gaze landed on the two Edwards girls, and she hurried over to them.

"Regina, what's wrong?" Luna instantly asked.

"It's Henry. He seems to have run off, and I can't find him anywhere," she quickly said. "He ran away yesterday and found the woman who gave him up for adoption. She brought him back to me last night, but when I went to wake him up for school this morning, he was gone again. I was just wondering if either of you have seen him."

"I'm sorry, Regina, but I haven't," Luna, unfortunately, said before looking over at her daughter, whom she knew was close friends with the Mills boy. "Daisy?"

Daisy shook her head with a frown. "No, I haven't seen Henry anywhere."

"Would you have any clue as to where he is?" she asked.

Daisy shook her head again, causing Regina to sigh in exasperation. "Why don't you ask the Sheriff and get him to look around or ask people? I'm sure Henry wouldn't have gotten far."

"You're right. I'll do that now." Regina turned around and hurried out of the diner before pausing to turn back around. "Call me if you find him or hear anything from him. Will you?"

Luna nodded with a sad smile. "Of course." And then Regina was gone.

Luna and Daisy left shortly after that and headed towards the bus stop. Luna bid her daughter farewell and watched her head off to school. She then began to walk down the street, smiling and saying a bright good morning to whoever she passed. After a while, she stopped in front of a door with a building that had a sign saying "Fierce Clothing" above it. She pulled the key to the front door out of her bag, unlocked the door, and walked into the building, flipping the 'Open' sign around. She spent the next few hours sorting through clothes, cleaning the shop, and attending to the few customers who walked into the store. It wasn't until around midday that things changed.

Luna was standing behind the counter, sorting through the cash, when the bell above the door chimed. "Hi!" she chirped brightly. "How can I help you— " When she looked up, she saw her daughter, Daisy, looking down with a woman with blonde hair and a red leather jacket beside her. "Daisy?" Luna walked around the counter in confusion and began to walk up to the pair. "What are you doing here?"

"Daisy was found with Henry at their secret hangout spot," the woman with blonde hair responded.

Luna's gaze turned to her. "Their castle?" she asked and received a nod in return. Luna knelt before Daisy, her concerned gaze meeting her daughter's terrified eyes. "Sweetheart, why did you skip school? You could have been hurt."

"Because of what you said this morning, that us Edwards women are strong," Daisy responded, her eyes beginning to water. "I wanted to prove that to you by finding Henry for the Mayor. I wanted to be a hero like you are in Henry's book.

That caused Luna to frown. "Henry's book?" she questioned. "What do you mean?"

"Henry has a book called 'Once Upon A Time' that Ms. Blanchard gave him, filled with fairytales, and you're in it." Her eyes lit up, and a smile graced the girl's beautiful features. "You're known as the Queen of Dragons, and you have three dragons that are like children to you. Although you've been brought up with evil your whole life, you helped Snow White and Prince Charming send the saviour, who's their daughter, Emma, through a portal to our world. On that saviour's twenty-eighth birthday, she was destined to arrive in Storybrooke, and that's when the final battle would begin, and she would restore everyone's happy endings!"

Luna stared at her daughter in utter bewilderment before looking up at the blonde-haired woman standing beside her, who gave her a shrug in return. "That sounds amazing, Sweetie," Luna smiled softly at Daisy. "Now, why don't you look around the store and pick some clothes to bring home? How about that?"

"Okay, Mom!" The girl immediately ran away.

Luna stood back up and looked at the woman with a small frown as she didn't recognise the face. "Are you in the book or is it just the people who live in this town?"

Emma gave a dry laugh. "Apparently, I'm the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming." She held her hand out. "Emma Swan."

Luna smiled as she shook her hand. "Luna Edwards." She turned around so that she could watch her daughter run around the store and stood beside Emma. "I take it that you're Henry's biological mother?"

Emma chuckled. "Yeah, apparently so," she said. "His adoptive mother, Regina, what is she like?"

"She can be tough, and many people are afraid of her," Luna responded. "But, I don't know. I only talk to her when I drop Daisy off at her house or office or if she drops Henry off at my apartment. She's nice to me then, and she's nice to my daughter. And if she's nice to Daisy, that's all that matters to me."

"You're either incredibly nice or naive," Emma joked with a smile.

Luna chuckled as she shook her head. "Yeah, definitely not characteristics an apparent 'Dragon Queen' would have."

"What's up with that, by the way?" Emma asked. "Have they always believed that everyone in this town is a fairytale character? Henry believes that Regina is the Evil Queen from Snow White."

Luna hummed and said, "I just found out about that 'everyone in this town is a fairytale character' thing. This explains why Daisy has been asking me so many questions lately. As for me being the Dragon Queen, I gave her a necklace with a dragon pendant as a christening gift when she was born. My best friend and roommate also has one. I also have a ring of a dragon that was given to me when my mother passed." She extended her right hand to Emma, who looked at the ring. "I told her it was a family heirloom, symbolising the strength of us Edwards women. I believe in that, but I didn't know she took the dragon part literally."

"Yeah, well, apparently they do. Maybe get the book off from Henry or Daisy sometime and give it a read? Perhaps you are in there," Emma chuckled, causing Luna to grin.

Daisy ran up to the two women with her arms full of clothes, and they both smiled down at her. "Now, are you sure those are all the clothes you want? This is a one-time thing. Don't go thinking that by skipping school, you will get free clothes every time."

"Yup! These are all I want!"

"Then good. I'll close up and return to the apartment, and we'll go." Luna smiled at Emma. "It was very nice meeting you, Emma. Hope we'll get another time to talk under better circumstances."

Emma smiled lightly. "Likewise." Luna patted Daisy's back, and the two began to walk towards the back of the store to put some remaining clothing away. "Luna!" Luna turned around at the sound of Emma's voice. "I'm planning on staying in town for the next week. Do you know where there's a place to stay?"

"Just down the road at Granny's Bed and Breakfast." Emma slowly nodded and turned around to leave. "Wait a minute, and Daisy and I will walk you there."

"Thank you," Emma smiled, and Luna nodded before turning back around to put Daisy's clothes into a bag.

AUTHORS NOTE
I know this isn't well written, but as I mentioned in the first chapter, I'm just writing this for fun and as a fun little side thing. I'm not concentrating 100% on it, I just wanna have a go at an OUAT fic <3
