Starlight, Star Bright
I wake up as we get to the base. Bumblebee is waiting for us, and when he sees the state we're in, he starts beeping and bopping and bzzting so fast, I can't keep up with him enough to actually understand what he's saying.
"Bumblebee, calm down. I can't understand what you're saying, you're talking so fast," I tell him. He sighs and helps Ratchet get the supplies he needs to patch everybody up. Hunter and Jake carry Cho to the table, while I grab the medical supplies I need to fix up Cho's leg.
"This is going to sting," I warn her before I start wiping away the dirt and blood from her wound with an antiseptic wipe. Cho winces, but she doesn't jerk or anything. I cringe when I see the cut. It's 6 inches long across her knee and shin and looks deep.
"What happened, Cho?" I ask, looking at her. She struggles to sit up until Jake and Hunter help her.
"One of the bombs we set off hit one of the Decepticon's digging machines and blew up its tank. Some of the shrapnel cut me in the leg, and the explosion is what caused the tunnels to collapse, I think," she explains. I nod and set about patching her up. Not knowing how deep the wound is, I decide the safest option is stitching it. I numb the area before starting, and afterward, I bandage her leg, so the wound will heal correctly.
"Can you walk on it?" I ask her as she sits up.
"A little bit. Enough so that I don't need any help, at least," she replies.
"You think you'll be okay if you go home?" I ask her.
"Yep. See you tomorrow!" Cho says as she limps toward Ratchet, who's finished up with checking on the Autobots. They're the first to leave, and Jake and Hunter soon leave with their partners as well. I pack up the supplies I didn't use and store them in their proper place. I look around. HQ is practically empty now that almost everyone's gone. I head up to the plateau's top and sit at the edge. I lay down on my back and stare up at the stars. One of my many foster moms taught me some of the constellations before she passed away (which was the reason I had to change homes). In my mind, I list them off in my mind as I find them. I'm still doing it when Bumblebee finds me.
"Hey, Bee," I greet him. He sits down beside me, trying to see what I'm looking at in the skies. I point out the constellations.
Beep, beep, bzzt, bzzt, bop, beep.
"Watching the stars helps me calm down and put things into perspective," I tell him, sitting up on my elbows.
Beep, bzzt, bop, bop, beep, bzzt.
"You used to watch the stars on Cybertron?" I ask him. Bumblebee nods sadly.
"Are these the same stars you saw?" I ask him, turning to look at him. He shrugs, looking back up at the stars.
"I know how it feels to lose your home," I tell Bumblebee, sensing his sadness for his lost home. He just nods, as if he's not really listening. We sit there in silence for a long time. I must eventually fall asleep, and Bumblebee must carry me back downstairs because I wake up the next morning back down in the main commons of HQ.
