*Melody Pov*

I woke up hearing the rustling sound of sheets and opened my eyes to see that I am no longer snuggling him. I glanced up to see him leaning on the headboard and rubbing his eyes.

"Morning!" He greeted when he saw that I am awake.

"Morning!" I greeted back.

"Princess! I want to know some answer to my worry." He said looking at me.

"You can call me Melody." I said and then slowly got up to lean back but not fully.

"Right! Did your consent was present in our...." He trailed off gesturing us both on the bed.

"Oh!" I mumbled realizing what he is asking about.

"You need not worry about it Prince Kendrick. If my consent was not there then I wouldn't have allowed you to....." I trailed off not knowing how to describe what we actually did.

"So I didn't coerce (force) you right?" He asked again.

"No!" I replied shaking my head.

"I guess we need to.. Have a bath before someone comes to wake us up." He said and I nodded.

"Your chemise (shirts) and breeches (pants) are in there." I said showing him the closet on the left end.

He nodded and didn't move so I glanced at him hoping that he will but he just sat there looking around the chamber.

"Uhmm.. will you go for a bath?" I asked him murmuring.

"Oh! I thought you would want to go before me. I will take my bath then." He replied and started getting up.

He too looked uncomfortable so I shuttered my eyes to give him some privacy. I opened them when I heard the washroom door closing.

In a flash I started wearing my gown before he walks out which will save us both from discomfort. I couldn't wear my corset as I will not be able to tie the strings. I tried to tie my gown strings at least a little.

When he walked out I got inside and had my bath. But then another problem arose and as I didn't know what to do I came outside wearing my robe which will cover my untied corset.

"Can I call my caretaker?" I asked him nervously.

"What for?" He asked confused.

"I need her help." I replied not knowing why he is even questioning me.

"I can help." He offered and started walking towards me.

"With my corset?" I asked him shocked.

"Oh! Well... I can.. I guess." He replied.

I nodded and turned around with my back to him. I slowly released my robe only until the strings.

He slowly moved and started tightening them as I have tied them very loosely. When I finished I started wearing my robe back but not before getting a kiss on my shoulder from him.

I rushed inside the washroom again to wear my gown and again asked his help for tightening those strings too.

We both walked out only to see Amy who looked like was about to knock on our door. She got shocked and took a step back and immediately blushed.

"King Albert is asking for you both, Princess." She said looking at me.

I nodded and we both walked towards the counsel room where we saw our both fathers sitting beside each other and discussing something.

"Our King and Queen are here." I heard someone saying who turned out to me my favorite council member Cole actually my only favorite council member.

In the whole council only he have the worry for the people and gives importance to lives than his power. That's what made me his pupil and learned everything from him.

"Uncle Cole! Where were you? You were not there at my wedding." I asked him in small tone walking near him.

"How can I be there when I know that your whole heart is not there in that? I even heard that your consent was not even asked." He said sadly.

"How I wish I was here when this proposal even came." He added wishfully.

"Everything happened in a flash that maybe no one got time. But I was asked my consent by my Husband. I guess in a way it made up for everything." I said smiling.

"Indeed! Now where is that man who did have some heart unlike the people in here?" He said in low tone and I chuckled.

I looked back to see him still standing at the same place from where I walked towards Uncle Cole. I gestured him to come here and he immediately walked towards us.

"So Prince Kendrick or shall I say King Kendrick?" Uncle Cole asked teasingly.

"Kendrick is fine Sir." He replied.

"Take care of my daughter here. I am sure no one has warned you at all." Uncle Cole said sadly.

"I will Sir." Kendrick said.

"Kendrick! Please come here along with the princess we need to discuss something." King Ronald voice reached us.

We both nodded and reached near him excusing ourselves from Uncle Cole. We both sat down and waited for them to start speaking.

"As there is time for you both to take the responsibility as a King and Queen, we both came to a conclusion. He will be second head to my Kingdom and I will be second head to his Kingdom." My Father said and we both nodded.

"That's all we wanted to tell you." Kind Ronald said and we both again nodded.

When we were excused we both walked outside the council chamber and went inside the dining hall to have some breakfast.

We were just surrounded by silence completely during the breakfast and even after that. Without saying another word we both walked outside the palace completely.

When we are walking I saw a man aged near to my husband walking towards us with a smile on his face.

"Morning Queen!" He said greeting me.

"Morning! I am still a Princess." I reminded him.

"But for all of us you are already a Queen. I mean you are married to this man which is nothing but a difficult task." He said jovially.

"Let me introduce myself properly Queen. I am Juan protector of your Husband which makes me protector of you too." He said bowing down.

I gasped in surprise because in the first place he joked about his Prince or King and second did he say my protector? But I never had one.

"Are you finished with your words?" Kendrick asked looking at Juan.

"I guess I am." Juan replied with a shrug.

"He was with me from the time I was a child so we are close as best friends." Kendrick explained when he glanced at my confused look.

I nodded smiling at their bond and felt longing to have that bond with someone. I could have that with Amy but she is too shy for her own good to even tease me.

"I will go and have some breakfast for myself. I am starved." Juan said.

"You are always starved. You don't have anything else to do other than that." Kendrick said.

"If I am not healthy and strong, how will I keep you alive?" Juan said with a frown and left us to walk inside.

"He must have got hurt." I said looking at Juan's back.

"This is our usual bicker. Do not worry about it." Kendrick said and I nodded at him.

We both continued our walk and had very little conversations looking around. I have passed this garden zillion times but I still looked around like this is the first time I am coming here with the feel that I am taking my first stroll with my husband.

The whole day finished with our small walks and meeting all the council members getting to know what our major responsibilities will be for this kingdom.

And at the end of the day we walked inside my chamber tired. We slowly lay down on my bed and turned to glance at each other.

We slowly moved close and ended up kissing each other passionately like yesterday. And then slowly given into the passion forgetting the tiredness.

After that the following few days the routine continued and at present we were taking a stroll in the garden at again.

"Who are you close to other than King Ronald and Juan?" I asked him when we stood near the big tree.

"What do you mean?" He asked confused.

"I am asking about your immediate family Prince Kendrick." I replied.

"Call me Kendrick, Melody." He said looking at me and I missed a beat in my heart hearing him saying my name for the first time.

I nodded and he continued saying "My mother Fay who is very hard from outer side but soft inside. I am close to my Uncle Connor and also his daughter Bess."

"She is the healer in our Kingdom and she has talents." He added.

I smiled looking at him and said "Anyone else?"

"I used to be close to my cousin." He replied sadly.

"What happened?" I asked him frowning.

"He is no more in this world. He deceased the day before I came here." He replied with pain and trying to hide it fully.

I placed my hand on his shoulder and said "I am sorry to hear that."

"Even I am but it is good thing to come here than to stay at his funeral." He said looking ahead.

"Why?" I asked him confused.

"I couldn't have bore to see that. Now that we are married I am sure no one will get hurt again." He replied.

"I am also sure and that makes me completely content. I really got tired and hurt every time a war took place as I had to conduct all the funerals and console their families." I said remembering those days.

"I couldn't have done that and that takes guts. My Mother too does the same. Even though we men fight the war with no fear we cannot handle the aftermath." He said sighing.

"I heard that your Uncle is great fighter from some solders. Is that true?" I asked him distracting him completely.

"He is! I learned so much from him and he is really fond of me. He even wanted to make me his Son-in-law because of that fondness." He replied and then abruptly stopped.

"Oh! You mean Bess?" I asked him.

"Yeah! My Mother too wanted to have that wedding." He replied.

"Is she wonderful?" I asked him frowning.

"She is and we are great friends too. I have known her as far as I can remember." He replied and turned towards me.

His eyes suddenly looked concerned and he asked "Are you well?"

"Yeah! I am and tell me any other thing." I asked him trying to ignore the tugging in my heart.

"You tell me about your family." He said after few minutes.

"My Mother deceased when I was born and I was brought up by Agnes who is my Mother figure to me. I am not close to my Father very much. And I dislike Candice." I said looking around the garden.

"Who is Candice?" He asked confused.

"No one important! So I have heard that you are leaving tomorrow to Hulind Kingdom to inform everyone." I said looking at him.

"It's been nearly two weeks from the time we got married. It is best to go there otherwise they may get more worried as we didn't inform about us to anyone." He said thinking.

"Wouldn't they have got already worried as you and King are here all these days?" I asked him getting worried.

"No! They are used to our Father and Son camps in which we stay outside the kingdom for few weeks after each war." He replied assuring me.

"So you are really leaving?" I asked him with keeping my uneasiness at leash.

"I will be back after few days to take you to my Kingdom." He replied and I nodded smiling a little.

"Shall we go back?" he asked and I again nodded.

"Kendrick! I think it is best if I go there alone and return with proper arrangements to take Princess back to our Kingdom." I heard the words coming out of King Ronald the very next day.

I couldn't help but get a smile on my face which didn't go unnoticed by my Father-in-law. He smiled at me knowingly and I looked down immediately.

"Are you sure you want to travel alone Father?" Kendrick asked worriedly.

"I am sure! So it is decided then." He said and we started walking outside the chamber.

"Princess Melody! Can I have a word with you?" I heard Kind Ronald asking.

I nodded looking at me and he gave me his elbow to hold. We both walked outside the palace and took a stroll.

"Are you happy with my Son?" He asked suddenly.

"I am King Ronald." I replied honestly.

"That's all I need to know. I know I did a mistake not asking your consent for this wedding but all I could think of at that time is my Son's life." He said looking at me.

"I know if the wars would have continued and in one of that I may have even lose my Son's life." He added.

"Please don't say such things King Ronald. It is not good to say them." I pleaded him.

He smiled affectionately and said "I know even without this wedding there could have been some treaty because of which the wars would have got stopped. But I took the situation as an opportunity to get him married to you."

"Why?" I asked him completely shocked.

"Because my Son would have not got any other Queen who is as perfect as you." He replied.

"That is not true King Ronald." I said shaking my head.

"I have heard stories Melody. I heard how much you think about your people and I even heard about your kindness." He said smiling.

"I just wanted you to know that I didn't get you as a Queen to my Kingdom for the stopping of wars but for having a Queen like you for my Kingdom and to my Son. I will be returning soon to show my people what gem I have brought for my son." Adding those words he just left me there completely stunned.

Did I heard those words or I am just imagining? I just couldn't believe whatever he said to me right now.
