*Kendrick Pov*

I glanced at the warriors that are lying on the ground with no life in them anymore. Then I moved my head to look up at the sky praying to the almighty for the rest of all these souls in peace.

“Kendrick!” I heard my name being called by the person who is approaching me.

“Yes Father!” I said turning around masking the weakness that appeared in my eyes.

But when I did I got an unexpected surprise by seeing the weakness in his eyes which he never showed to anyone except my mother. I walked towards him with questioning look.

He sighed and said “Your cousin is no more.”

I stumbled back a little and said “Father! This is no time to jest.”

“Come and have a look at him before he is taken back to our Kingdom.” He said and started going towards the part of the land where my cousin fought.

There on the ground is my cousin body lying completely lifeless. I kneeled down and held his hand in mine hoping he will come back.

When his body is taken away along with the remaining warriors I turned towards my Father and said “If uncle had come with us then he wouldn’t have been part of this war in the first place.”

“What can we do my Son? Your Mother is trying to make her brother understand the situation so that he will think about the people and not about the position in the kingdom he didn’t get.” Father said shaking his head.

“We saw not only loss in the war but also a dear of ours lost his life. I know this is not end for that to happen and there will be more.” I said closing my eyes.

“Albert is a lucky fellow.” I heard the most surprising words from my Father.

“Father! Why are you saying those words that too for the King of Velimar Kingdom who defeated us today in this war?” I asked him with shock evident in my voice.

“That’s because he is lucky. After his wife Queen Hera left this world he didn’t have anything to lose so he is fighting with everything he has. He only have his Daughter to worry about who will not enter this war ground so his Kingdom will have his heir to continue the ruling even after we all die along with him.” Father explained.

“But I have you to worry about who is fighting beside me from past five years. If I lose you then I will lose my Monarchy on our Kingdom too as I will not have any more heirs.” He added.

It stings a little to know that he worries about losing his Kingdom if I die but not about losing his child. But I didn’t present these thoughts of mine infront of him.

“I have always heard that a King having a Daughter is a curse but you are talking completely different.” I said the words which I don’t believe but I want him to come out of these thoughts.

“When numerous wars are being taken place then that say will change completely depending on the situation.” He said when we both mounted on our horses.

“We can’t do anything other than this war right. If we accept our defeat then it will be taken as the betrayal to our people done by us. But I wish there is a way to stop all this.” I said as we reached near our Kingdom grounds.

Father abruptly stopped moving his horse and I stopped mine seeing this. I turned to see that he is lost in his thoughts.

“How much do you wish for this wish son?” He asked in hard tone.

“More than you know Father.” I replied honestly.

“More than your life?” He asked with a frown on his face.

“I don’t want any more lives to be taken away Father.” I replied not blinking.

“Juan! Juan, come here right now.” He shouted for the royal warrior who is appointed for my protection and fights beside me.

“What is it King Ronald?” Juan asked reaching us and asked the remaining to continue their journey.

“Can you protect us both inside the Velimar Kingdom?” Father asked him.

“Yes Your Highness.” Juan replied without a doubt.

“Then let’s go!” Father said turning his horse.

Juan and I followed him completely confused and with lot of questions in our heads. After travelling some miles we finally reached the grounds of Velimar Kingdom.

It is completely dark so we decided to take some rest before continuing our journey. We three lay down and drifted off into sleep with the exhaustion from the war.

“Why are we even going there Father? That too with just Juan with us to protect. You know that it will take them very little time to end our lives right?” These are the first words I told him when we started our journey to go inside the Kingdom.

“My Son! I have a way by which all this can be stopped.” He replied with calmness.

“What is that way?” I asked him curiously.

“Melody, Princess of Velimar Kingdom.” He replied smiling for the first time after the war.

“Are we going to kill her? I know we all hate her but that doesn’t mean we should put our lives in danger to complete that task.” I said and immediately started thinking for the ways by which we can kill her and also save ourselves.

“Kendrick! What in the devil name are you saying? If anyone here hears that then we can forget about our lives.” Father barked at me.

Then I looked around to see that we have completely near the Kingdom. I glanced at him and in whisper said “Forgive me Father! Now how can we kill the Princess.”

“Who told you that we need to hate the Princess Son?” He asked with a frown on his face.

“Uncle! When the first war started which is ten years back he started saying that. He said from the time when we had our first loss in that first war.” I replied.

“I always have a doubt that he is not good to be in your company but I couldn’t do anything because of your Mother. When you started hating that Princess she is ten years old. Start removing those feelings towards her right now.” He ordered in a way that we can’t question about it anymore.

“Then what are we doing here Father if we are not going to kill her?” I asked him again.

“Friend! Why are you so adamant on idea of killing her?” Juan asked amused by my words.

“That’s because I see that only to be the reason for us to be here.” I replied throwing a glare at my friend.

“You didn’t gave a word to anyone that you will marry them right?” Father asked completely weird question.

“No! But Mother and Uncle want me to marry Bess. As she is a good healing helper under our main Healer which will be good for the Kingdom all the time. And Uncle also wants me to make his Son-In-Law.” I replied.

“If that is their plan then I really wish my idea to work out and be accepted by everyone in this Kingdom.” He said and started going towards the guards.

Juan and I followed him in concentration as the guards just saw us and are ready to finish us in any moment looking at the warrior dress we are wearing which symbolizes our Kingdom.

“We are here to meet your King Albert and we are no danger for any of you.” My Father voice boomed all around.

But the people were looking at us with anger and I can’t blame them because our people too would have done the same thing.

“Cease their weapons and let’s take them to our King.” One Royal warrior said stopping everyone from attacking us as he knows who we are.

In few minutes we were captured in a sense except with no blinds to our hands and legs. I just hope Father knows what he is doing….

So our hero is here...........

The updates will be really slow for my stories as i just got to know the date from when my exams will start.....

But after them they will be fast for sure. But before they start i will try to update one or two chapters more.....
