*Melody Pov*

"You can rest Melody." Kendrick voice brought me out of my thoughts.

I shook my head and continued to look outside. I heard his sigh and then felt his touch on my hand.

On impulse I pulled it back and closed my eyes. I slowly opened them to look at him under my eyelashes and saw hurt covering his face.

I want to reach his hand and say that it has nothing to with him but the words are not ready to flow from my mouth.

After a long journey we reached Kingdom of Hulind. I sat straight in stiff position while passing the kingdom while Amy placed her hand on mine giving me assurance that everything is fine.

I glanced at Kendrick and saw that he just looked away from me to look outside with still blank look.

When chariot stopped infront of the palace, I started to get down trembling after Amy. At the last step I was about to slip but Kendrick held my hand and placed his other hand on my waist.

I started to move away from his hold but he had the steel grip on me. We both walked towards the palace and started getting on the stairs to reach the door.

I glanced back to see all the little crowd of people which formed staring at us in shock. Maybe because thinking how can Prince bring a enemy to their kingdom.

The doors of the Palace opened and I saw the women whom I felt that day as my Mother-in-law and there is a lady standing beside her glancing at the floor.

"Kendrick! Leave her right now." Her Mother ordered him.

Hearing that I released myself from him and moved back towards Amy holding her hand. She is also terrified hearing that and I can feel it.

"Mother! What happened?" Kendrick asked her with confused tone.

"Didn't you see how our people are looking at you both? Don't you know you shouldn't show your affection in public which involves holding hands?" Queen Fay asked in anger tone.

"Mother! Is that all? I held her because she needs to be careful." Kendrick said politely.

"Why? Can't she even walk this little distance?" His Mother asked looking at me with disappointment.

"She is with child." He replied and immediately both the women looked at me gasping.

I saw that the other lady is still looking at in shock while Queen Fay ushered us inside immediately.

"She needs to rest." Saying that Kendrick walked towards me to hold me while I tried to step back.

"You need not stress about it. She will be shown to her room." Queen Fay said and turned towards the lady.

"Bess! Can you show the Princess her room and tell her the rules she needed to know?" Queen Fay asked and now it's time for me to gasp.

She is Bess? She is the one who was going to be his wife? If not for this marriage then they both would have got married.

I thought I do not care about anyone except my child but it still stung somewhere. No! I need to be strong for my child. With that thought I followed Bess to the first floor and entered a room.

"It is smaller than your previous room Melody." Amy whispered.

"It is enough for me." I said nodding my head.

"I can't believe that I am the one that is showing you the room which was supposed to my room after getting married to Kendrick." Suddenly Bess said making both of us look at her.

I didn't replied to that and stopped Amy from doing it holding her hand. Bess sighed and walked towards the door present inside the room.

"It is not in my heart to tell you anything but as per Queen's orders I have to. This is the door that connects to Kendrick's private bedchamber. You cannot lock it as there is no bolt on this side but he can whenever he wishes." She said making me weak by each passing second with each word.

"Everyone must have their meals in the dining area. Public display of affection is not a good thing even though there is a single audience." She continued the rules one by one and I just heard her.

"Do you want to ask anything regarding anything?" She finally asked.

"I need to rest!" that's all I replied.

She looked at me with unbelieving look and marched out of the room. I sighed and sat on the bed placing my hand on my stomach.

"I thought I have escaped the taunts and words Amy but here it looks worse than in the previous kingdom." I mumbled and glanced up to only gasp.

There Kendrick is standing beside Amy and looking at me with blank expression. He looked at Amy and asked her to leave the room.

I shook my head but he assured her I will be fine. Very reluctantly she left the room giving me an apologetic look.

After she left the room, I casted my eyes down and decided to not utter a single thing. Then I felt his hands on my shoulders raising me up.

He placed the hand on mine which is present over my stomach and said "Is our child really here?"

I couldn't ignore the happiness in his voice and nodded looking at him. Then suddenly with a smile he hugged me making my eyes go wide.

I fidgeted a little but stopped hearing him saying "I am so happy about our child. I didn't expect it. Hell I never thought about it but now I am feeling content."

"I heard what you are saying Melody. Do not worry about Bess. She just got the news about us today morning. I will ask her to control her tongue." He added making me want to hug him back but I stopped my hands and the feeling.

He slowly released me and said "Rest for now! Tomorrow we have to present ourselves before the kingdom. And then we will be the new King and Queen of both the kingdoms."

Do I even care anymore about any of such thing? No! All I care about is my child and not a thing other than it.

I nodded and he finally left but after caressing my cheek a little. When he left Amy entered and said she got a room in the maid quarters.

I glanced at her worried but she assured me I will be fine and she took the room from where she can hear my shout if I stand outside my room.

She helped me in changing into comfortable night cloths and then left my room. I locked the door in fear someone may come.

I atleast can lock this door but not the other one which connects his room. This is not a special thing as it happens between every couple in the palace. The rooms are designed like that from the beginning.

Even my Chamber had a door which would lead me to enter a room but as my Father had no boy child I got that chamber as my room.

I just lay on my bed praying no one cause harm to me mainly when there is a life inside me which I need to protect.

*Kendrick Pov*

After hearing the words from Melody's mouth I am sure Bess must have uttered something.

I walked inside my Father's chamber to see my Mother and Bess already there. I glanced at him and nodded.

"She is resting Father. You can meet her tomorrow." I informed him and he nodded smiling.

"She was rude to me." Bess suddenly said.

"Bess! I know it must be hurting you but she is my wife and that is a fact. You need to accept it and stop throwing the taunts at her." I said in calm but my eyes showed the threat.

"So she already started filling your ears then. And you believed her but not your friend." Mother said shaking her head yet again in disappointment.

"You don't even know what happened to her Mother." I said sitting down near my Father.

"What happened, Kendrick?" My Father asked.

"It was my entire mistake Father. I should have checked on her by intervals." I replied completely disappointed in myself.

"What actually happened, Kendrick?" My Mother asked this time.

I calmly told her what happened in her Kingdom with her with all the details not hiding anything. They need to know what she had gone through because of her own father and her people.

"She would have died along with our heir?" Mother asked in shocked whisper and Father looked fierce.

"Yes! And that is because she saved Juan from hanging." I replied.

"Who does that? Who does that for a man belonging to a Kingdom which threw her outside and didn't accept her role?" Bess asked me with confusion.

"That is Melody for you. She fears for her life here. And after hearing your words she thinks her life would be more difficult than it is in her Kingdom." I replied.

"Forgive me Kendrick. I was just clouded by my jealousy." She said looking ashamed.

"I know Bess! You are not this and that is why I told you so that you can understand." I said understanding her.

"Tomorrow our Kingdom will be happy to hear the other good news. Order everyone infront of her to protect her with their lives from tomorrow." Father said and I nodded at him because I am going to do it even before he suggested.

Juan went inside his room which I gave him way before when he became my friend in the palace to take some rest. I retired after sometime to my bedchamber and lay down on my bed.

I got completely used sleeping while holding her within just one month at her place. After that it was hard but I got used to it. Tomorrow onwards she will be with me. But I know she will need time to get over her fears.

I closed my eyes and drifted off into sleep....
