~ one shot pt. 3 ~
Azriel loved performing. Ever since the band had started off, he enjoyed the look of the audiences' faces as they performed. It was always just so filled with glee, complete admiration and it just amped up his performances even more, energizing him so much that the entire stadium was just a room full of pumped of energy. The engulfing screams and the warmth that rushed towards him from dancing too much and hyping the band up, it filled his nerves with something so much more addicting than adrenaline that any nerves, any fear he has, it is too overwhelmed to even exist anymore. This is what he was made for and this is what he will die doing.
The alarm blared loudly, his dark eyes flaring open as he moved his eyes to stop the alarm. Slowly moving up, he looked towards the windows, curtains already open from last time. He didn't enjoy sleeping with the curtains down, he enjoyed the lights shining in from outside. The rays of the sun fell on his body, his face concealed successfully due to the wall that halted the light from penetrating through.
He eventually started to get up, getting dressed before heading out the door. Some may find it surprising but Azriel was almost always the first one to get up and when he does, he takes it upon himself to wake the others up, as loud and annoyingly as he can. Fingers rapping hard on the door, he went from room to room, entering the room with the same loudness as that of a bullhorn. "WAKEY WAKEY," he yelled, loud enough to wake up the entire floor but that wasn't a concern really, they had booked the entire floor for the sole reason he did this every time. Running room-to-room, he yelled and jumped on their sleeping bodies, forcefully waking them up before giggling and exiting the room, a string of curse words following after him.
"How the fuck is he so energetic? Its only 8 am." He could hear the exasperated sigh of Antoni as he practically hopped away from his room, a bright smile on his face. He had always been the energetic boy, random bursts of spontaneity a common phenomenon with the ravenette.
He had woken up almost all of his brothers, except Zephyr and Lucius of course. No one dared wake up the youngest, he was far too scary at times like these and it was best for him to awaken from the slumber on his own. Or let a poor sucker take bait and wake him up, which never ended well for them, but hey at least they got a good laugh out of it! He chuckled at a particular memory of such as he entered the blonde's hair, Zephyr's mumbling almost inaudible due to his face being suffocated by the pillow, although the boy in question didn't care. Raising a brow, Azriel swiftly removed the pillow from under the boy's head but even that didn't wake him up.
But no worries, Azriel was well versed with the brother of his and immediately knew the way to wake up the blonde. A smirk making his way up, he walked into the washroom and grabbed the little jet-like spray that was long enough to take a few feet away from the washroom, just enough to aim for his brother and spray him awake. The moment Zephyr felt the cold water, his eyes opened immediately and got up, grabbing whatever was near him to protect him which was... nothing. Azriel had cleverly taken away anything that would have helped the boy and cackled as he dropped the object and sprinted away, his name being called out by Zephyr as he considered running after him. He could easily catch up with him but then again, wet and tired wasn't exactly the look he wanted to present now did he?
Sighing with annoyance, he just got up and looked at the half-wet bed, pursing his lips as he thought of how it looked like he had pissed his bed. "I'll kill him. I really will," He angrily said, a pout ready to form on his lips.
"No, you won't," Bit back Revel as he passed his room, fully dressed and ready for a fulfilling breakfast. "C'mon on Zeph, sleep talking and pissing the bed? Looks like you never changed," The lanky boy said, a laugh echoing as he winked at his brother's angry face and walked away.
All this commotion was bound to wake up Lucius, at least that's what you'd expect. But fully expecting this and experienced since he has been with them for a long time, he had gone to sleep with noise cancelling headphones. Smart of him but then again, people always confused his laziness with dumbness. A fool really, anyone who thought that the sleepy boy was something short of a genius. But what people thought, especially about him, never mattered to Lucius really. He couldn't bother with these trolls, thinking that the words they say actually affect him in any which way possible. Well good luck buddy if you can get a fuck out of Lucius, who is probably the most unbothered guy in the world. Soft snores escaping him, he was lost to the real world and preferred to get lost in the ecstasy that is sleep. He couldn't understand people who didn't sleep, how can't you? It's the easiest and simplest thing in the world. Just close your eyes and forget the tension, feel your body relaxing, succumbing to the tethers of the dream world as you leave the dystopian universe you live in.
But he was bound to wake up some time, having the unfortunate luck of neither being dead or in a comatose state. Groggy eyes landing on the six, mostly happy faces of his brothers he scowled and laid his head on the table, immediately regretting his decision as his cheeks felt the sticky warmth of Acacius' spilled pancake syrup. "Why am I alive," he muttered, it being phrased more as a statement than a question and his eyes dead, regretting the decision of even coming down. In the background he could hear the snicker of his brother, Acacius enjoying the sight of a sulky Lucius distastefully wiping away the syrup from his face. Lucius didn't bother glaring or reacting in any way, choosing to loll his head back and take a long power nap.
The regret didn't move away when they were in the green room, not hours before the concert was going to start. Revel was panicking away, trying to find the right belt that matched while fighting with Antoni to wear what he was telling him to but of course said boy wasn't going to, not yet. He will, just before the show starts just to annoy the boy as he pulls off his outfit with a lazy yet effortless look, as if he got out of bed dressed that way and somehow manages pull it off. Revel should be used to it but he still chooses to argue away with Antoni who's enjoying getting a rise out of him.
Lucius' eyes wandered around, his nerves jingling around. These were pre-jitters and he has had them since the first day they performed and somehow, they never leave. Lucius knows he doesn't look like someone who actually bothers himself with these things but ask any of his brothers and they'll all say the same thing: that he works harder than the devil himself. His lazy appearance and dead eyes make it seem like he doesn't care but he has learned to mask away all thoughts in emotions so well that it looks like he doesn't have them anymore, even often fooling himself and making him question if he does indeed have them or not.
But that train of thought was stopped when a cough was heard from the doorway, an awkward Zephyr standing.
"Why the fuck aren't you dressed?" A valid observation because the boy in question was not dressed, instead sporting on a crew shirt and casual jeans. His eyes passed over the room before he gave a quick smile and muttered something, inaudible to the ears of brothers.
"What?"
More mumbling was heard and this time, it irritated Lucius as well. "Speak up."
"I can't perform today."
4 seconds. That's how long it took for everyone's attention to shift to the blond, comprehend what he had said before an uproar of disbelief, confusion and concern took over the room.
"What do you mean you can't perform?"
"Are you out of your mind?"
"What kind of bullshit is he spewing?"
"Guys let him explain why he can't."
"Like hell you can't perform, of course you will."
During all of this Toni had not said a word, unusual because this was something he would have been very vocal about but of course those thoughts were shattered when he practically pushed passed the crowd that had gathered around Zephyr and took him by his collar, eyes wide. "What?"
That's when Grayson knew to step in, taking in his brother's wrist and pulling him away. We want answers to but let's get them before he's you punch him and knock him out."
"He can't knock me out," Zephyr argued back, offended that they thought Antoni could even compare to Zephyr.
"No shut up. You're only going to explain why you can't perform today," Grayson snapped back, taking a seat next to a still Lucius, whose eyes bored into those of Zephyr's. "Go on, what are you waiting for?"
"Well you see, I'm kinda... I have... I- I have a cold and a sore throat," Zephyr finally finished, hoping they wouldn't be able to see through his obvious lie. To emphasize his point, he coughed and cleared his throat, making it hoarser so it seemed like he did have a cold.
Toni just looked at the boy, eyes narrowed. A cold he said, huh. "How did you get a cold?"
Luckily Zephyr had the perfect excuse, this part actually being true and believable. "I think I caught it when Azzy sprayed me with water this morning."
A gasp was heard from where Azriel stood, his mouth opening and closing to say something. "I...I did do that," he whispered out at last.
"B-But," Zephyr spoke up immediately, hurrying as he looked at the clock. "You guys can perform without me! You all know the sets well enough so it would be like I'm there, just not really." He tried to pick up the pace, everything seemingly in slow motion.
Azriel barely heard it, guilt building up as he thought about how he is why his brother can't perform this time and he talked, softly. "No, let's cancel it. We can't perform without you."
Oh no, this was not going as Zephyr had planned. "No no, don't do that. The fans would be disappointed and we don't want it. Just perform without me, please," It was more of a plead now, a request as he looked at them with hopeful eyes. The five artists looked at each other, trying to decide whether they should or not.
"Are you sure?" Toni spoke up, his voice uncharacteristically lower than usual as he got up. Something about Zephyr and how he didn't seem very sad for not being able to perform was not setting well with him, but he also knew his brother wouldn't purposely give up a show. But he didn't brush aside the memory of the last time Zephyr had a cold during a concert yet he still sang, losing his voice for the next couple of weeks. Then again, back then they had to cancel the tour as a whole because of that and he had beaten himself up too much because of the disappointment he would have caused. Maybe he learned his lesson this time, Toni thought though a part him didn't believe that.
"Yes absolutely. I am disappointed that I can't perform but we can't give up the concert for this. You guys can still do the show, Azzy and Toni know my lines and can sing it themselves."
Oh, so this is where he is going with this. Grayson was finally caught up, a knowing smile marking his face before vanishing away as fast as it came but it wasn't fast enough, Antoni's eyes catching it and making him question what the other boy knew. Antoni may not be the smartest but he was definitely a fast one, always catching things his brothers failed to notice. And right now, were one of those moments, making a note to self about questioning Grayson about that smile of his. But that would have to be done later as he was pushed into the dressing corner by Revel who threw his clothes at him before going to Zephyr and talking to him.
Zephyr looked happy. A little too happy.
Acacius was surprised the show had gone on so well, the crowd disappointed due to the absence of Zephyr but tonight the brothers performed extra well in honour of the missing boy. The audience screaming as they heard the honeyed voice of Azriel merge with the gruff yet silk-like voice of Antoni, both of them creating a sound that the fans would mercilessly compare to the sounds of Angels. He couldn't help but smile at the view in front of him, leaving him breathless and exhilarated. This is what performance did to him and it was amplified when he performed solo, the silent yet loud ambience of the stadium making him want to do this again and again and again.
With one last scream to the audience, Azriel making sure to say his iconic 'YOU'RE ALL MINE, REMEMBER THAT' to the audience that definitely caused a majority of them to faint, they returned backstage only to see Revel on the floor as Zephyr tried performing him the steps Revel had choreographed for one of their songs. Obviously, the boy was executing them so painfully, all Antoni would think was 'how can someone suck so bad at something' with a shake of his head.
Lucius just watched the seen unfold in front of his eyes with a raised brow, amusement in his eyes as he said aloud what each brother was thinking. "I thought you were sick?"
Needless to say, Zephyr did get punched that day but his point was proven when he didn't pass out, though there wasn't much pride in his voice this time.
THE END
