The Coming Storm
A snowstorm at Brunswick Farms. The wind is howling, "I don't get it. The empty towns I've passed through were all damaged or unfinished. But this place looks... fine."
Team RWBY, Qrow, Oscar, you, and Maria arrive at the porch of a residence. Weiss is shivering as she wraps her arms around her to keep herself warm, "Maybe everyone left in a hurry. Before things took a turn?"
Qrow tries to open the door, only to notice it was locked, "Hmm. Stay on guard."
Qrow kicks the door open; everyone proceeds forward with their weapons drawn. They cautiously look around the place, "Close the door already! It's cold enough in here as it is."
Maria walks into the house. Afterward, You and Oscar push a nearby drawer to block the door, "I saw a chimney from the outside. Maybe we could get a fire going?"
"Please. I'll look for some blankets."
"Yang, go with her."
Ruby lingers by the entrance hall for the bit while the others look around. Oscar opens a door, "Looks like a study. Or, a library?"
Ruby walks forward to notice a group of pictures on the wall of the family that owns Brunswick Farms. Blake walks up next to her, "What do you think?"
"Something doesn't feel right."
"Let's look for some-"
Suddenly, a high-pitched scream, it was Weiss. You ran up the stairs with everyone following you, "Wiess!"
You turned the corner of a hallway and witnessed what Wiess saw, a couple deceased on the bed. You acted quickly, grabbing Wiess and Yang out of the room, bringing them into a hug; Wiess hugged you back slightly shaking Yang lean closer to Wiess. "What happened?" You stared in the room, making sure Wiess and Yang didn't look back in.
"Take them downstairs." You stood up, Wiess was still clinging on your cape, you took it off and resting it on her shoulders. Ruby and Blake lead their teammates back to the living room as Qrow stayed back.
"I'm going to take a sweep on the grounds." You mumbled. Qrow objected, "No, you stay here and watch everyone else; I'll go." Before, Qrow left the room to take hold of his hand.
"Qrow, can we talk?"
"There isn't a reason to."
"I'm sorry I hid this from you-"
"I don't want to hear it." Qrow removes his hand from your grip.
You watch Qrow leave the room as Ajin, manifested behind you. You began to go through the closets luckily, finding extra blankets, "What could have happened here?"
Ajin began making mumbled words, "Feelings... Sadness..." You were trying to figure out what was being said, "No, Ajin. It's regret." You leaned to the wall, "Get... rid of... person responsible." You shook your head, "No, you will not kill him. He just needs time alone." Ajin stayed quiet, giving you a slight nod. You were silent while collecting blankets when a voice echoed in your head, '(Y/n).' The voice was unrecognizable; you didn't know where it was coming from.
Ignoring the voice, you went downstairs, handing the blankets to Blake, "Have they calmed down?" You asked worryingly, "Yang has but Weiss..."
You turned to Ruby, "I'll see if there are more blankets."
Before you could turn around, a hand gripped on your skirt. You looked down, seeing who's hand it had belonged to, "Weiss?"
"Can you stay here for a bit?"
You nod, taking a seat next to her, "Of course."
Weiss lays her head on your lap; your cape draped over her, "Would you like me to calm you down?"
She nods as you place your hand on her head. Ruby sits on the other side of you, as Blake and Yang sit on the couch. "I've seen what love looks like,
I've seen its beauty when it's alive,
I was roaming in its paradise,
It's gold, it's blue, it's in the skies," Oscar closes his eyes, listening to your voice, as Maria watches the scene.
"But I am a witness to love's death,
There's no blood, there's no body, there's nothing left,
Oh, my darling, don't you ever forget,
I wasn't prepared for the end,
This is what it looks like,
When two people decide,
That the love has died,
Oh, the love has died,"
Qrow enters the house once again however no one pays attention as you continued singing, "We're all victims of the way it hurts when the love is gone,
Forever is not for everyone,
We can't undo what's been said and done,"
Qrow doesn't enter the study, and listens what you were saying."'Cause I am a witness to love's death,
There's no blood; there's no body, there's nothing left,
Oh, my darling don't you ever forget,
I wasn't prepared for the end,
This is what it looks like,
When two people decide,
That the love has died,
Oh, the love has died."
The silence was soon cut off as Qrow entered the room.
"It's the same in every house."
"What?"
"Bodies. Every bed in every home. It's like the whole estate just went to sleep and never woke up."
"Then, we're not staying here, right?"
"We don't have a choice. Storm outside's only getting worse. We'd freeze to death before we made it anywhere."
"Well, might as well get comfortable."
"Yeah, fat chance."
"Okay, then, let's do something. If this place wasn't abandoned, it might still have supplies we could use."
"Hey, yeah. Maybe even a car."
"I'll do another sweep of the grounds. No one else goes anywhere alone." Before Qrow leaves the room, he locked eyes with you, without saying anything he left.
"Yang and I can search the other buildings for vehicles."
"Fine, whatever gets me out of this house."
Yang and Blake leave, with Ruby moving the drawer to let them exit. Afterward, Ruby looks over to see Weiss at the doorway to the living room with a melancholic look on her face, "Food always makes me feel better. Just saying."
"Right..."
Ruby and Weiss leave the room, leaving You, Oscar, and Maria together, "I'll tell you what. You keep that fire fed... and I'll find us a story to read before bed."
Maria sits back down on the couch and begins reading while Oscar sighed, "Cheer up, Oscar." You pat his back, putting more wood in the fireplace, "(Y/n)? Can I ask you something?"
"What's your question?" Oscar sat next to you, "Are you okay?"
Your smile faded, "To be honest with you, no. I'm not. Everything is falling apart; I should have told Qrow everything since the beginning." You sadly looked at the fire. Oscar felt something off about you, "They gave you orders to follow me-Ozpin, right?"
"Yeah, I am the only one who knew Salem, I wished I could have done more for her, then maybe, we could have been gone since long ago."
'(Y/n)!' You turned around quickly, this slightly scared Oscar. "What's wrong?"
"I keep hearing voices; they keep calling my name."
"Maybe you are just tired, especially after everything earlier."
"And I realized something about you, " Maria looked up from her book, "You and the God of Darkness were close, huh?" You laughed, "You could say that, he wasn't cruel, he just misunderstood. In a way, I'm what kept them from fighting, and if I tried to stop him from erasing all those people, maybe all of you wouldn't have suffered so much."
A smaller version of Ajin appeared, "He's always with you know, he was the one who gave me Ajin."
"He gave you Ajin?" Oscar tilted his head. "The God of Darkness created ajin, remember when I told you that one brother asked me to go, but the other wanted me to stay. To convince him, he created a being to take care of me, so I'll never be alone."
"That's why the Grimm are attached to you," You shook your head, "No, I had this gift even before I met them. I didn't know why I wasn't born with magic, but whatever it was substituted for the favor of the Grimm."
"What about your son?"
"That's still a bit of a sensitive subject, but since everyone knows about him... The reason why I left was because he was murdered. Imagine... your own blood that is supposed to outlive you, dying in front of you. When he passed, I wanted nothing more than to die myself."
"That's why you wanted a reason to live."
You nod, "Cyan, was my everything. I've used my abilities with the Grimm to find out who did and destroyed everything in my path when I did, I felt nothing, I was apathetic. I became the queen they feared, when I was nicked named Goddess of Grimm here, I thought I was going back to my roots. Then again, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree."
"The Goddess of Grimm?" Maria takes a look at you once more, "That title was around since I was young."
"Well, like Jinn said, I'm immortal. To hide it, I travel different parts of Remnant with whoever was the headmaster at the other academies. The last headmaster I was with was back at Atlas, with General Ironwood."
In another room, Ruby uses her scroll's flashlight to look around. She finds alcoholic bottles on the shelves. Weiss uses Myrtenaster to send small flames to light up the candles in the room, "There."
The two look around the room. Shelves are full of alcoholic bottles, and a bar is seen as well, "On second thought, maybe we should keep this room closed."
"Huh?"
"I'm just... Not sure how well my uncle's taking all of this. Even with knowing about (Y/n)'s past.
"Oh."
"Come on; we'll never get to Atlas on an empty stomach!"
Ruby walks forward, though Weiss lingers and sadly looks down. Ruby then opens up another door, "Ruby? Are we really still going to Atlas?"
"Why wouldn't we be?"
"I mean... you heard what Jinn said. If there's no way to kill Salem, then what's the point in all of this? We could give (Y/n) the relic and let her go."
"Weiss, you can't be serious. After everything we've been through."
"Sorry, I- I don't know what I'm saying, I'm just really tired and I really, really hate this place. Anything in there?"
Ruby turns around and uses her flashlight to look around. She sees more alcoholic bottles arranged on a shelf on the right side of the room, "More alcohol... At least we'll never have problems starting a fire."
"What's that?"
The two notice a large, metal cellar door in the ground. Its handles are chained together, "A wine cellar? Great."
Ruby then looks up to her left and lets out a yelp before zooming over, "What? What is it?"
Ruby holds out a can, "Food!"
"Canned food?"
"Oh, trust me, you put enough salt on anything, and it will taste just fine."
"Well, I guess it's better than nothing."
The two share a smile. Weiss walks over and helps Ruby grab a few cans of food, "But I still seriously hate this place..."
The two then walk out of the room. Unbeknownst to them, the metal cellar door opens slightly, before shutting again with a startling bang... '(Y/n)?'

End of Vol. 6 Chapter 5
Another one down!
Fun fact:
When I created this story, this was the very first chapter I had written. Now 40 chapters later, it's finally published.
When we learned about Ozpin's past, I thought to myself, what if Ozpin wasn't alone on it, what if he had someone who would be beside him? Saint/Reader was initially planned to be with Ozpin but was scrapped out, if anyone noticed, that's why Ozpin and Saint are always together. I began to test different types of love for Saint/Reader with a few different characters.
The love Ozpin and Saint/Reader have is agape/storge. Qrow and Saint/Reader, it's Eros/Philia.
Suneel and Saint/Reader, it's Mania.
God of Darkness and Saint/Reader is Pragma.
If you guys have suggestions on upcoming chapters, feel free to ask! I'll do my best to make something to your liking.
Until the next chapter!
Michaelis~
