Dead End (Alternate End)
A little something for those who like heartbreak.
In town, there was a small pub, Qrow was drinking away, as you entered the pub. You sat down next to Qrow, "You weren't at the house."
"..." Silence.
"Qrow, enough with the silent treatment."
"Couldn't you leave me alone right now?" Before he takes another sip of his liquor, you place your hand over it, preventing him from drinking.
"Qrow, when are you going to listen? This is childish."
"You know what's childish? Keeping those you 'care' about in the dark about the truth."
"Qrow, enough of this."
"No! Do you have any idea how it feels to find out the people you trust the most hiding who they really are?" Qrow shoved you to the side.
"This is me! Nothing about me has changed!" You grabbed his arm, making him turn back facing you.
"It doesn't seem like it. How should I trust you?"
"We've always trusted each other."
"For all I know, you could still be hiding something from me?"
"You think I had a choice to keep it a secret. Ozpin has it a lot worse than any of us!"
"Ozpin this! Ozpin that! You talk about him a lot more why don't you be with him!?"
"Because I love you!"
A few people in the background played close attention, trying to understand the situation.
You shouted at him, "I wanted to tell you, but I didn't want to talk about the death of my son! To remember what that woman did to him! To relive those awful memories, I don't think... I... I can do this anymore." The pub gets quiet, some looking at you with apologetic eyes. "I'll leave you alone. You won't see me anymore; I know when I'm not wanted. Like you said, 'Meeting me was the worse luck of your life, ' Right?"
You place down a few lien cards on the counter, "Take care of the kids; they look up to you." You walk out of the pub, slamming the door behind you. Qrow runs after you; however, you were gone, then a thought popped in his head; what if you were going to Atlas yourself.
On the other side of town, Ajin places you down on the ground after the incident with Qrow, "I'm fine, Qrow's a good man; it's my fault. I got on his nerves." You continued to walk down the street, your eyes began to tear up, "I should have told him in the beginning."
Ajin placed a hand on your back; you wiped your eyes, "I shouldn't be crying; it was my idea to leave." You took a deep breath calming yourself, "Get the Relic." Ajin turns to smoke, looking for Ruby.
"(Y/n)? What are you doing out here?" You turn your attention to Oscar, "Hey Oscar." Oscar walks up to then took notice of the tears running down your face, "W-what happened? Are you okay?" Oscar quickly takes out a white rag wiping your tears.
"Qrow; I got into it with Qrow."
"W-why?"
"About me, he gave me his answer."
"What did he say?"
"I'm going to Atlas."
"What? You can't leave."
"I already sent Ajin to retrieve the relic. I'm going straight to the base. Cordovin said, if I was alone, then she can arrange something for me."
"Let's talk about this."
"There is nothing to talk about. Ozpin isn't here. Therefore I'll do whatever it takes to make sure to keep all of you safe."
"You're keeping us safe? From what?"
"From me."
On the other side of Argus, team RWBY walks along a sidewalk, searching for Oscar, "Where could he ran off to?"
"We'll just have to keep looking."
Ruby felt her belt get lighter, "What?" She then turns around, seeing Ajin was holding the relic, "Saint... said she is sorry." Before Ruby could react, Ajin turned to smoke with the relic, "Oh no!"
Team RWBY tried to figure out where could Ajin have gone, "That was Ajin, (Y/n) must have sent him."
"But why would she need the relic?"
"I don't know, but we need to figure out why."
"Maybe let's head to the house and regroup-" Blake was cut off as she takes notice of Qrow running in the distance, "It's your uncle." Everyone turns to where Blake pointed, "Something is wrong."
The team began running after Qrow. Ruby uses her semblance to get in front of him, "Uncle Qrow! What's going on?"
Ruby takes notice how worried almost terrified he looked, "(Y/n). Have you seen her?"
"No, but Ajin just took the relic."
"Shit!" Qrow then continued to run, hoping to see you anywhere.
Back in the house, Ajin manifests in front of you, handing over the relic, "Thank you."
You place the relic inside of a bag, "Let's head to the military base."
"Can I at least see you go?" Oscar walks into the room, "That's fine by me."
Oscar follows close next to you, he felt awful, you held Oscar's hand, as your other hand lifts up his head, "Chin up, don't feel bad Oscar. None of this was your fault."
"If only I didn't take control, then maybe-"
"They were going to find out sooner or later."
Upon making it to the Military Base, Cordovin opens the gates to you, "I had a feeling you would crawl back."
"Don't push your luck, Cordovin."
Cordovin takes notice of Oscar, "Wasn't he with you this morning?"
"He's only making sure to see me off, allow him to stand beside me until then."
"Of course."
Cordovin leads you and Oscar through the base, "Have you contacted General Ironwood?"
"No, this is a surprise for him. I have a gift to bring."
"And what would that gift be?"
"Myself."
Cordovin laughs at this statement, yet you weren't laughing. A soldier steps up, "Ma'am, we are prepared for take-off."
"That's my cue."
Oscar looks at you; sadly, you hug Oscar, "Take care, okay?"
Oscar hugs you back, "I should go with you."
You pat his head, "No, following me will lead you nowhere."
"At least keep me updated."
"I will. Thank you, Oscar."
As the plane takes off, Oscar walks back to the house, a flow of memories filled Oscar's head, "Ozpin." The memories were of you, good ones, bad ones.
A particular one was of you in Beacon Tower, "Saint? Why are you back?"
"I need the person who understands me to comfort me." You had tears streaming down your face, "Another one of these can break you. Even with your immortality, you are still very fragile."
"Ozma, if anything happens to me, be the one to see me."
"Anything for you, Saint."
Oscar enters the house; everyone rushes to him,
"We were worried sick!"
"Where were you?"
Oscar doesn't answer until he makes eye contact with Qrow, "What did you do to her?"
"What?"
"Saint! (Y/n)! Couldn't you at least had listened to her?!" Qrow was taken back by the outburst, "Where is she?"
"Did you realize what you have done?!" Oscar grabs Qrow, pushing him back, "I... I tried to stop her... Or to at least go with her..." The teams watched the scene unfold; they were shocked that Oscar was the one losing his cool, then again, if anyone were in his shoes, they would do the same.
"She left to Atlas."
The scene changes with you still on the aircraft, Atlas came into view as the radio comes on. "Manta-00S, Welcome home."
You sigh.
As the aircraft lands, you were greeted by a few armed guards, "Since when did I request protection?"
"Please, identify yourself."
You take out your scroll, "Lieutenant (Y/n) (L/n)." The guards quickly put down their weapons, "My apologies, we didn't expect you to come back. Allow us to carry your items."
"That won't be necessary; I came for a short stay."
"Yes, ma'am."
"Hello, Lieutenant (L/n), it's been a while. We will escort you to the General." Four people stand in front of you, the Ace Operatives. "I see all of you have grown, that includes you, Marrow." The dog Faunus smiles at you, "It's been years since you left, we've heard that you are here for business."
"That is true, my job was assigned here, but I'm not too sure if any of you will see me around." Harriet walks up to you, "About the relics?"
"Who told you?"
"We all know, General Ironwood made us swear an oath never to speak of them."
"Had he said anything about me?"
"That you are the caretaker of the relics and maidens, but that's about it."
"Seems about right."
Marrow opens the door for you, "If you need anything, let us know."
"Thank you, Marrow."
"It's good to have you back."
You enter Ironwood's office, James stands up with a soft smile plastered on his face. Along with James, another male with emerald colored eyes turns his attention to you.
"(Y/n)."
"James, Clover."
"May you leave us alone?" Ironwood turns to Clover.
Clover nods, "Of course."
As Clover passes you, he whispers, "Good to see you again."
"To you as well, lucky fisherman."
As you turn your attention back to James, you are met by a firm hug, "You have no idea how worried I felt when I couldn't find you, and when I head that you were with Qrow at Haven, I knew you were safe." You hugged Ironwood back, "Please take a seat."
"I didn't expect you to be here."
"Neither did I."
"I hope you are doing well."
"I wish that was the truth."
"(Y/n), are you all alright? Did something happen?"
"I need to lock myself in the vault of the Winter Maiden."
"Why not just the relic? There isn't a reason for you to go in?"
"James, I have a secret that I would share with you, about me and my existence."
You told James about your past, about your connection with the Gods, about Salem's immortality the same with yours, "I understand."
"I know it's a lot to take in, but James, please. If I don't do this, I'm afraid I'll be putting the world in danger. My mental state isn't the best; I think I'm losing my mind. I've never been so scared of what would happen if I go back. I could hurt you, Qrow, my students, everyone. Please, James-"
James places a hand on your shoulder "(Y/n); let's get some sleep. I'm sure you had a hard day."
"Right, I'll do... That..." You fall limb into James' arms "(Y/n)!" He checks your breathing and pulse even though you said you were immortal; he wanted to make sure you were okay. James sighs in relief then take you to the room you were going to be staying.
You slept on days on end, James knew about this procedure if you were in too much stress you take a deep sleep. You had done this once many years ago after your incident with Suneel. It took you a few days to wake up.
James tucks you in bed, "You'll be safe here... Saint." He walks out of the room, locking it from the outside, "Umm, sir?" The Ace Ops stood behind Ironwood.
"(Y/n), will stay in her room until further notice. She is not to find the winter Maiden or the Vault. Only until a few days she will wake up, when she does, call for me."
"Yes, sir."
"(Y/n) is having a permanent stay here is Atlas. The White Queen is back in her place." As James walks down the hall, Marrow takes notice of the symbols on the door, the queen chess piece was carved on the wooden door, "That's what he meant by Queen."

End of Chapter!
This isn't apart of the original story, but I thought it would be cool to have a little, 'What would happen?' If the reader were to leave everyone, in the end, she wouldn't be in the vault since James would have her by his side.
More coming soon!
