Most of the character arcs are inspired from certain arcs on other shows and in books. Mary from Hero by Day was inspired from Morgana on Merlin, April from Heroes wear Capes is inspired by a real comic book character (spoilers!!), Ian from Hero by Day is inspired a bit by Stiles Stilinski from Teen Wolf and a character from a book combined, Cade from Haunted was inspired by The Naturals book series and the I Hunt Killers book, and Liv from Psychic was inspired from a TV show about a guy who could read minds and the fact that I'd always wanted to write about a mind reading girl.

Most start as sparks of ideas and get melded together later on. This is most evident with the Heroes wear Capes series which was obviously originally multiple storylines. One idea usually isn't enough for an entire book, so I combine them most of the time.

Haunted was originally just a girl who could see ghosts falling in love with a 'ghost' who was just a real boy in a coma. I'd always wanted to write a murder mystery with teenagers and a son of a serial killer and one day the two ideas just sort of combined.

I never originally planned on Mary from Hero by Day turning evil. I'd always wanted to write a book about a girl who was twisted into becoming a villain because of a guy who was manipulating her to turn to the dark side. He would be the only one who ever loved her so deeply, which was why she would fall so easily into his trap. When I introduced Andromeda into the story, I saw an opportunity to do what I'd always wanted to write and I went for it.
