--=Tsunami=--

You yelped as you fell forwards, stretching your arms out in front of you to break your fall. To your surprise, the hard stone that made up the pillar didn't feel as hard as you had imagined. It felt scaly, warm almost... You stopped. Something was wrong. The steady breathing coming from Tsunami had stopped. Now that you thought about it, the breathing had sounded very close. You raised your head slowly, daring yourself to look up, only to find that you had landed, with your hands outstretched directly against Tsunami's midsection.

Startled, you stepped back quickly, which only made you clumsily fall backwards. Tsunami's body stiffened, before she raised her head, opening her eyes.

"Who's there? If your going to take me to see your stupid Queen, then think again, because I'm not going without a fight..." She growled, as she looked around, expecting there to be Skywing guards ready to take her away.

She was however, very suprised when she looked down, and saw you. You didn't dare move, as she stood up stretching, before she glanced down at you once more. There was a look of interest in her face, but it was quickly replaced with a look of hunger. Before you could even move, she pounced onto you, easily pinning down your small body. She looked over your body, before she grumbled to herself in annoyance.

"Really... Couldn't they at least have given me something a little more filling? Oh well." She sighed, as she leaned her head towards you. Her jaws were wide open as you kicked and struggled. You could practically see the back of her throat.

Wait! WAIT! STOP!" You shouted, trying to push her away as she prepared to bite down, before she stopped.

Tsunami looked around confused, trying to pinpoint the location of the voice. She clearly didn't think it had come from you.

"W-Who... Who said that. Wherever you are, come out!" She growled, as she scanned the area. Her talon was still on your chest, keeping you pinned against the ground.

"Its me. I'm down here." You groaned, feeling stunned. Your heart was beating so fast you were partially worried that is would burst out of your chest.

Tsunami looked down confused, before she stepped back in shock, taking her talon off of you, which allowed you to get up. You wobbled on your feet for a few seconds but you quickly regained balance. Tsunami was still staring at you in shock, before she blinked her eyes before a few seconds, and sat down, rubbing her head.

"I must be dreaming... This must be a dream. No way did a Scavenger just speak... Y-You can't talk! Th-That's impossible!" She said, as she got, up, pacing several times across the small space of the platform you and her were on, before she looked back at you, her focus completely on you.

"Can you?" She asked, seemingly haven gotten over her shock.

"I-I, um, er, yes?" You asked uncertainly, as you were not to sure how this was going to go. So far, the Dragons that had learnt you could talk, had taken the news surprisingly well. To be completely honest, you hadn't been sure how Tsunami would've reacted, but you had thought it would have had something to do with violence.

There was a question you had to ask her. You needed to make sure it really was Tsunami...

"Um, I just have one question to ask you..." You asked nervously. Tsunami narrowed her eyes as she looked at you, and tilted her head.

"Go on..." She urged.

"Well, um, I just wanted to know... You're one of the Dragonets of Destiny? Right?" You continued, waiting to see Tsunami's reaction.

This was Tsunami's second time to be shocked that evening. She looked suprised, before she leaned forwards, and starting prowling towards you. There was a suspicious look in her eyes. You backed off, your hands held out in front of you defensively. You had no idea if you had said the wrong thing, and you had a feeling you might have.

"H-How did you know that? How!?" She demanded. You swallowed back the fear in your throat. You should have known better than to ask a question like that so early on.

Your mind was racing. You had to come up with something believable. It was the same situation with Scarlet. No Dragon could know your origins.

Your origins... your home...

Suddenly it hit you like a boulder of what was happening. It was like being crushed under a mountain that had just been dropped on top of you.

You were in another world... another Universe. Far away from a family that loved you. A family that was probably worried sick about you. Nobody would ever know where you had disappeared to. Heck, you might actually die here...

You might never be able to get back to your own world... You might be trapped here forever. If you could survive whatever Scarlet had planned for you first...

A small tear traced its way down your face, as all of the thoughts ran you over like a train. Before you knew it, you were on your knees sobbing uncontrollably. Suddenly, you felt something behind you. It was Tsunami.

"H-Hey. Um. Scavenger? I-I, um. I didn't mean to scare you. If I did... I'm sorry." She said, sounding guilty. You knew it wasn't her fault that you had ended up in this mess, but at that moment, you felt more comforted than you had in your entire life.

Even if it was by a Dragon. You sniffed, clearing your eyes, as you pushed away the thoughts.

"I-It's nothing. It wasn't your fault." You said, trying to not make your voice crack.

"Would you like to talk about it? Whatever weird Scavenger thoughts are in your head?" She asked, although you noticed she sounded slightly awkward. You tried to suppress laughing at her request. Out of all of the Dragonets of Destiny, you could not imagine Tsunami as a therapist.

"It's okay. I'm alright. I wouldn't have thought you would have cared about a Scavenger. Besides, I can tell you feel uncomfortable doing it!" You joked, as you tried to distract yourself.

Tsunami glared at you, although you could tell there was a twinkle of humor in her eyes. The shocked expression that had previously been on her face had been replaced by a look of curiosity, as she studied you.

"Well... For starters I never knew Scavengers could talk until just now... Second of all, I would never hurt a talking Scavenger."

"Oh please' You joked. 'You were about to eat me before I managed to stop you."

Tsunami seemed like she was about to protest, until she sighed. "Alright fine. You got me there. Although, you probably would have given me indigestion anyway. Especially with all those weird coverings you've got on your body. Her snout wrinkled in disgust, as she made reference to your clothes. You rolled your eyes, already starting to feel slightly better from the banter.

"Heh, you know Scavenger... You kind of remind me of Glory..." Her voice trailed off, and she bowed her head sadly. You patted her leg, as you tried to comfort her. You would have patted her shoulder, except she was much larger than you.

"Me and her were always fighting. Exactly like this. I-I just... I hope she's okay..." She said dejectedly.

The top of your head didn't even make it past her legs. Besides, you already knew what had happened to Glory. You knew she was fine. She would just end up as Scarlet's 'art' as she had called it in the books. You knew she wouldn't be harmed. You quickly found yourself wishing that you could tell Tsunami that everything was going to be alright. That she and the rest of her friends would make it out safely.

You'd already watched enough SCI-FI movies about time travel, to know that one small change, and it could really screw everything up...

But maybe you could tell her something... You hoped what you were about to tell her wouldn't mess up the future of this world, but you quickly pushed the negatives aside.

"Your family is worried about you. You know?" You said, trying to get her attention. She looked down at you. Suprised.

"How do you know that?" She asked, but you could see the rising hope in her eyes.

"Just trust me. Their worried about you. Believe me, they'll be so happy when they get to see you. Your mother especially. I'm sure of it."

Tsunami gave a small smile, apparently feeling better.

"Thanks Scavenger. I'll take your word for it." She grinned. "Even though your being really cryptic. Like that stupid prophecy me and my friends have been trapped into." She lay down. The shackle attached to her leg clinked, as it rippled across the gap between the stone pillar across from our pillar.

You remembered one last thing about the pillars. The Dragons that are trapped on them, are attached to each other, by chains which span across each pillar like a spider web. If one Dragon tried to get away, they would bring everyone down with them. Not to mention each Dragon's wings are clamped with metal cuffs, which stopped them from flying away.

You had to admit, it was cruel, but genius. You suddenly remembered that you hadn't introduced yourself to your apparent new friend.

"Y/N." You said. Tsunami turned her head towards you, slightly confused. "What?" She asked, sounding as confused as her expression.

"Y/N. That's my name. I figured I hadn't properly introduced myself..." I started, before Tsunami interrupted.

"...What? By me trying to eat you and all?" Tsunami joked, as you chuckled nervous. You still weren't used to being around Dragons yet. Even thought Tsunami was friendly. More or less.

At least she was good, and not like Scarlet...

You couldn't suppress the small shake that ran through your spine. You were dreading whatever horrible fate Scarlet had decided for you, and you guessed it would probably end up with you dead. It almost made you want to break down in tears again, but you managed to pull yourself together.

Tsunami gave you a smile. "I never knew Scavengers gave themselves names? My name is Tsunami." She held up her chest, as she raised her head in pride...

"Future Queen of the Seawings! And not to mention, destined to stop the terrible War!"

You smiled back, resisting to the urge to say, 'I know' but you didn't. This was the first time you had met her in person. Even thought you sort of knew her already. Tsunami suddenly let out a yawn, startling you. By this point, the sun had long gone down, and the stars were starting to glimmer in the newborn night. Already there was hundreds, but you knew with no Human light pollution, many more would appear.

Tsunami yawned again, and you were barely suppressing your own. Your eyelids felt heavy. You realized that other than falling unconscious when you had at first been captured by the Skywings in the forest, you hadn't slept at all. So much chaos had happened to you since you had arrived in this world, and this was only your first day!

Tsunami looked down at you. "Aw. Is the little Scavenger getting all sleepy? I know I am. Especially after you woke me." She said as she nudged you. You barely responded, as you were pretty much falling asleep where you sat. You didn't trust yourself by being next to the platforms edge, as not only would being so high up terrify you, but also you were concerned you would accidently fall asleep, and tumble over the edge.

That would end very badly for you. And you knew it. You doubted any of the Guards would bother to catch you, so as a precaution you moved towards the center of the pillar, where you felt safer. Tsunami walked over towards you, and sat besides you. You guessed she had the same thought, only she wouldn't have to fall far, as she had chains to catch her.

"I guess I'm just happy to finally have someone to talk to after spending hours up on this cursed platform by myself. I swear, when I get my talons on Scarlet, I am am going to tear her to shreds." She growled, before she lay down, tucking her clamped wings in beside her.

"Although, I guess the last company I would have expected to have is a Scavenger. A talking one at that." She said. You only gave a small smile in response.

Realizing you couldn't stay awake much longer, you curled yourself up into a ball on the hard rocky stone. The wind was very strong up high on the platform, and you shivered slightly as it crept across your skin. Also you didn't have any blankets either. You sighed as you tried to get comfortable, before closing your eyes, letting yourself drift off to sleep.

The last thing you heard was a mumbled, "Goodnight Y/N." From Tsunami, before you finally succumbed to the desire for sleep...

(Tsunami) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tsunami, on the other hand, was struggling to get to sleep herself. She kept shifting position, tossing and turning. She sighed, annoyed. She felt tired, but she just couldn't get sleep to come. No matter how hard she tried. Her brain felt clogged. Clogged full of the events that had happened to her and her friends.

All she and the other Dragonets had wanted to do, was to see the outside world. The world their captors, aka, their 'teachers' had kept them hidden from. Now she could see why. First most of the Dragons that raised them from the moment since they hatched, had been murdered by Scarlet's guards before their eyes. But then, they had been captured by the Skywing Queen, and now, they were apparently going to die before they even got a chance the fulfill the stupid prophecy.

However, the thoughts that rushed around her brain most, were the ones about Y/N. The talking Scavenger that had unexpectantly showed up on her prison platform. She was still stunned about that event, even though she refused to show her shock.

Does that mean other Scavengers are intelligent as well? Can all Scavengers talk like Y/N? I wonder what the others would think of Y/N if they saw him?

She couldn't suppress a small smirk that broke through her troubles.

Starflight is going to freak out when he meets Y/N...

These thoughts circled Tsunami's brain over and over, making her growl internally at her incapability to sleep. She sighed, as she turned around once more, before she found herself watching Y/N's sleeping body. They looked so small. So delicate, as they huddled against the stone. Tsunami was about to make another attempt for sleep, when she noticed something was wrong with the Scavenger.

Their entire body was shivering, and their skin was pale. It made them almost look a hundred times punier compared to her.

"What the?" Tsunami murmured to herself, as she took a closer look at the Scavenger. It was very dark by this point, with only the palace below the sky pillars, lit up from the light of torches, along with Scarlet's terrible arena, but luckily Tsunami had night vison as Seawings could see in the dark. This meant she could see just fine. Not wanting to wake Y/N, she crept up slowly towards him, trying not to make sound as she glanced down at them. Their eyes were shut tight, and their arms were covering their head from the strong freezing wind.

Sudden realization hit her, as she watched her new strange friend sleep on the cold stone ground. Y/N was cold. She knew she was no expert on Scavengers, but she doubted those coverings the Scavenger was wearing would help much against the wind. Especially considering the wind itself was quite cold. Even for her.

Tsunami thought for a minute, about what she could do. She was considering just leaving the Scavenger alone, and just go to sleep herself, but for some reason... she couldn't. She had a strange feeling in her heart as she gazed at the Scavenger that lay before her. Still shivering violently. After a serious debate about what she should do. She finally came to  a conclusion.

Tsunami groaned to herself, as she felt pity for the freezing Scavenger.

I can't believe I'm about to do this... Especially for a Scavenger... She thought annoyed, as she lay down once more, but with one talon, she carefully scooped up Y/N, and placed them against her own body. She wrapped her tail protectively around them, as she lay her head down on the stone, watching Y/N curled up peacefully against her body. Tucked away in her tail.

Tsunami continued to watch Y/N, thinking to herself about her actions.

This can't be right. Y/N is a Scavenger. Just a Scavenger. Its not like their a Dragon. I can't possibly be feeling pity for a Scavenger. Even a taking one.

However, she couldn't deny the strange warmth that seemed to radiate through her body, as she cuddled up with Y/N. For the first time in being captured by Scarlet, Tsunami felt peaceful. All of the fear and anger she had felt towards Scarlet, being trapped under the mountain, the prophecy, seemed to melt away.

How can I possibly be feeling all of this from a Scavenger? She questioned, before she gave up wondering. She was enjoying the feeling, and that was all that mattered. As Tsunami fell asleep, still curled up around Y/N, she felt a strange feeling that she hadn't felt before, and didn't know how to describe...

It almost made her want to protect the Scavenger even more...

(Authors' Note)----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is probably one of the longest chapters I've written in this and other stories. I might still tweak and edit a few things throughout this Chapter and others. Depending on what you think of them.

Fun Fact: Tsunami actually had a crush on Clay, when they were younger and still trapped underneath the mountain. This was obviously before the events of the first book took place, but it is still interesting!
