Cordelia Tavis spent her entire life training. For war. And when the death of her parents alongside the other 'traitors to Navarre' birthed new rather large relics and a one way ticket to the Rider's Quadrant at Basgiath War College, she finally understood. She would be prepared when she would claim a dragon, and it was going to be a damn good dragon.

Her last name came with territory. Not only was her father a leader of the Tyrrish Rebellion against Navarre, but for the last two years, her brother had been one of the strongest rider at Basgiath. She could not let Garrick nor her father down.

After losing her parents at the age of 14, the youngest Tavis had developed an edge, her smile fading to a more constant than not scowl, scaring away most potential friends. For a while, the only person she would smile with was her brother, before Xaden Riorson and his younger cousin Bodhi Durran shoved their way into the little family, Xaden having been one of Garrick's longest friendships. Bodhi had always found Cordelia beautiful, but she was not going to let her walls down for anyone, except her brother, very easily.

Bodhi began training with Cordelia and Garrick every single day, would sit with her as she would watch the sky for dragons flying by, and even would read to her from books about Venin that he had hidden when his parents were turned in. With time, Cordelia slowly let the boy in, the two forming a friendship at first before it developed into more when she was 18.

Their relationship lasted for about a year before Bodhi had to leave for Basgiath the year before her. She would be without Bodhi for a year. The two had decided to break up, at least until she arrived at Basgiath, as Bodhi was not allowed to write to anyone until his second year.

A whole year went by, Cordelia spending most of it alone, reading the venin books Bodhi had left for her over and over again. She formed a friendship with the two Mairi siblings, Liam and Sloane. Liam would be entering Basgiath with her, but she would have to wait a year before seeing Sloane again.

The day finally came when Cordelia was going to cross the parapet and be on her way to bonding a dragon.
