The Wedding

Meesha's POV:

It was 8 in the morning and when was so exhausted that I didn't even have the energy to get out of my bed.
Functions were just so annoying and hectic. When someone else is getting married, you dance and enjoy like there is no tomorrow. Now I finally understand why most of the brides would get so pissed right on their wedding day. It was all due to those long functions.

Knock Knock.....

Come in.....

Bua: Good morning Meesha.

Bua, good morning. Please come in.

Bua: Meesha, I am so happy for you. Today you will finally settle down. Ali is an angel, always keep him happy and in case there is any problem between you two, just solve it with a calm mind.

Thanks for the advice bua. (Hugging her) I love you

Bua: I love you 2 sweetie and if you need my help, just give me a call. I will always be there

Now quickly get ready and come for breakfast. After breakfast, we have to leave for the parlor early as you know traffic.

Sure bua. Give me 15 minutes and I will join you all for breakfast.

Ali's POV:

Finally, Meesha and I will be one today. I just can't get over the excitement

Ayaan: I am so glad you will be getting married. I hope all those stupid things are out of your mind.

Ali: Man, I still feel there is something wrong

Ayaan: You know what Ali, you are just a gone case. Now forget everything and thing about your suhaagraat (Nuptial night).

Ali Blushes

Ayaan: Ohoooo Ali! Just look at yourself, you are blushing like a new bride.

Ali: (Still blushing) Tu bhi na, kabhi to dhanki baat kiya kar (Can't you ever speak sensible things?

Ayaan: Okay groom-to-be. Now lets go have breakfast. I am really hungry. And then we have to arrange everything. Just look at your house, it is a mess. What will bhabhi think when she comes home?

Ali: Ya man, even I am very hungry. My house! It is a horrible mess. Let's eat and then we will figure out something.

5 hours later

Meesha's convo with her Bua In the parlor

Bua: (giggles) Someone is going to die today after looking at you Meesha

Meesha: (confused) Is that a compliment or an insult bua?

Bua: Hahahaha look at your face. Obviously it's a compliment. You have never looked so beautiful before. I wish your mum was here today.

Tears roll down Meesha's cheeks

Arey look at you? You really want Ali to see you in this chudail (witch) look

Meesha: Chudail?

Bua: If you start crying, then your makeup will smudge and then hahahahaha

Meesha: I had never seen Bua so happy before. Her happiness brought a smile on my lips and I hugged her.

Bua: Girls, we are getting late. Help Meesha to the car. We have to get going.

20 minutes later (Wedding Venue)

Meesha's POV:

Bua: Okay girls, help Meesha out the car and take her to the bridal room at the end corner of the hall.

Bua told all my cousins to take me to the bridal room and as we headed, my eyes were just gazing the entire venue.

The hall was beautifully decorated with pink and white tables and chairs. The stage was immensely eye taking and had roses, white and red flowers around it. Everything was extremely beautiful.

They all took me to the room and made me sit on the sofa and they all started taking selfies like they had never taken before. They were so mad and started taking my pictures as well but I had no courage to speak as the heavy jewelery was like a burden.

Agayi Baraat, Sara came in screaming on top of her voice. Let's go and welcome him.

Suddenly there was loud music and a song started playing

Hey Ya... Hey Ya...
( Hey Ya Heeriye Sehra Baandh Ke Main Toh Aaya Re
Hey Ya Doli Baarat Bhi Saath Mein Main Toh Laaya Re )... (2)
Ab Toh No Hota Hai Ek Roz Intezaar
Soni Aaj Nahi Toh Kal Hai Tujhko Toh Bas Meri Honi Re
Tenu Leke Main Javanga, Dil Deke Main Javanga... (2)

I could hear everyone screaming and cheering and I also knew that they would be dancing like mad people.

OMG! Jiju looks so handsome, Sara whispered in my ear but I was least interested.

I heard the door knob and Bua came in.

Bua: Meesha, it's time for you to go give your dulhe raja company.

She giggled a little bit and only to show her that I was happy, I blushed a little bit.

I could hear another song play. Why do they have to play a song after every second?

Dil kho gaya,
Ho gaya kisi ka,
Ab raasta mil gaya,
Khushi ka..
Aankhon mein hai khwab sa,
Kisi ka..
Ab raasta mil gaya,
Khushi ka..
Rishta naya rabba,
Dil chu raha hai,
Kheeche mujhe koi dore, teri ore..
Teri ore, teri ore, teri ore, hai rabba
Teri ore, teri ore, teri ore..

As the song kept on playing, I walked towards Ali only to lift my gaze upwards. Sara was right, he looks amazing. He was wearing a white sherwani.

He smiled at me and I had no other option but smile back as i kept on taking small steps to avoid tripping due to the heavy works on my dress and jewelery.

Ali came down walking and put his hand forward. Bua gave my hand in his hand and we both walked up the stage and I could hear loud cheers from everyone and specially Papa. He was extremely happy.

Ali's POV:

As soon as we arrived, there was a warm welcome. Meesha's cousins and other girls were standing on the sides with plates of flowers and started showering flowers as we progressed. I had never felt so nervous before. Ayaan was beside me and my other friends were following us. Soon after, Uncle came and put a garland through my neck and hugged me and I also hugged him back. Meesha's Bua had tears in her eyes and she was just so happy looking at me.

Bua: Always stay happy. I am sure you and Meesha will be an example for everyone.

I had a few tears in my eyes as well and I was missing my mother a lot. I had lost my parents when I was really young but could see them in Meesha's Bua and Papa. They were very good and kind hearted people.

Then we moved onto the stage and I sat down with Ayaan beside me and the photographers started clicking some pictures. After 10 minutes, I heard a song play and then gazed forward to see an angel walking towards me. It was Meesha. She had never looked so beautiful before. My lips flashed a smile while gazing toward her and to my surprise, she smiled back.

I got down the stage and put my hand forward and then Bua placed Meesha's hand in mine and we walked up to the stage while the photographers kept on clicking more pictures. We both sat down and then guests started coming up and blessing us while the photo session continued.

After a while, Meesha's Papa and Bua came up stage and sat beside us. Uncle took something out from a shopping bag he was holding. It was a watch and he asked me to put my hand forward. I resisted but he said it was a wedding gift and it is a custom. He put the watch around my wrist and hugged me. Bua hugged both of us and warded an evil eye. Apparently that was one of the customs during the old times. Meesha was sitting so quietly and looked so innocent.

I saw Sara heading up stage and had a feeling of a coming earthquake because Sara was always so naughty. Other cousins also joined her. She sat down on her knees and held my shoes tightly. They all started demanding for money. This was also a custom where the bride's sisters steal the grooms shoes and demand for money.

Sara held my shoe so tightly and she was almost going to take it off but then Ayaan saved me and he started bargaining on the amount of money. Admist all these, I saw Meesha giggling and smiling. She looked so cute. Finally the settlement was on Rs.10000 and they finally left my shoes.

Bua brought food for me and Meesha and then left both of us all alone. There was an awkward silence but I chose not to speak due to the situation. It would look really odd if the bride and groom would start gossiping and all the others would start teasing us.

Now it was time for rukhsati (sending off) and Meesha's cousin brother stood behind her as he held the Quran over her head as we headed to the exit. Uncle hugged Meesha and they both were crying endlessly. I had never seen both of them cry so much and after Bua and all her cousins hugged her one by one and all were crying. Uncle hugged me and folded his hands and said, "Please take care of my daughter". I quickly gathered his hands and assured him I will take care of Meesha. Meesha was still crying.

We both sat in the car and Ayaan was driving. It was just both of us at the back and Ayaan at the front seat. Meesha still had tears in her eyes and I didn't know how to console her. It was hard leaving your father who had specially been a father and mother both to you.
