Proposal! What did Papa just say? I looked on shocked trying to digest the 8 letters

P R O P O S A L.

"Papa, You are just making fun of me right?", I looked at him waiting for his reply.

Papa: "No beta. I am very serious. I don't know how much time I have left. I want to die in peace and for that you have to settle down. His name is Ali and he lives alone. His parents passed away in a road accident when he was only 7 years old and since then he has been brought up in an orphanage. He owns a software company and is a very successful engineer.
Even if you start searching the whole universe, you won't find anyone better than him.

Papa, why do you always talk about death? You are going to live for long, Inshallah!

Papa: No beta. Death is an uninvited guest. It can happen anytime, anywhere. I don't want to leave you behind all alone by yourself.

Papa: No ifs and buts. He will keep you very happy. And one more thing, tomorrow is your engagement so bua will help you prepare for tomorrow. Straight after the engagement, your wedding functions will commence.

What! Marriage! Already! He has gone that far. Papa didn't even bother hearing me out once. Was he tired of me or something?

And my engagement tomorrow. Everything is happening so fast. Why me? What about my dream?

Author's POV:

Meesha runs to her room as drops of tears flow down her cheeks. Filled with shock, she lay herself on the bed and cries vigorously.

She wakes up in the morning and is petrified on seeing the decorations in her house. Meesha has no idea of what is going on. She seems clueless and has forgotten what happened at night.

Meesha's POV:

Papa: "Meesha beta, how is the arrangement?"

Papa asked me so joyously and I was clueless of what was going on.

"The hall was beautifully decorated in white." It's wonderful papa but why suddenly.

Is there a party or something?

Papa: No beta. It's your engagement ceremony in the evening. Did you already forget?

It was actually true. I wanted someone to pinch me. This wasn't a dream. I was actually getting engaged.

Yes Papa, It just slipped out of my mind.

I hadn't yet even seen Ali and was getting engaged to him. A complete stranger. But i knew that Papa would always choose the best for me but i was still scared inside. I was giving up my dream for the life which i actually hadn't chosen.
