Aakshaya's POV
Ugh, I knew I should've just kept quiet! All because of a measly 2,000 rupees, I'm stuck in this mess.
Hey, when did you guys even come I know you must be confused on what's going on so
Okay, let me explain the whole situation. So, I just moved to Punab two months ago, and my neighbor, who's also my college senior, was the first one to befriend me. Her birthday is coming up, and I obviously need to get her a gift.
I asked my mom, who then told me to ask Dad (Papa ji). But guess what? I completely forgot that I just received 1,000 rupees yesterday for another friend's birthday. Papa ji, of course, went ballistic. Money doesn't grow on trees, he lectured, and I absolutely needed to understand the value of hard work.
Fast forward a few hours, and here I am, working at Papa ji's cake shop. You probably figured out what happened by now.
So let me introduces myself Papa ji boomed, "Akshu! What are you doing inside? A customer came!"
"Oh shi-," I mumbled under my breath. Gotta get moving or I won't get paid.
"Haan Papa ji?"
"See to the customer, take care of them. I need to go home, okay?"
"Okay, Pa," I mumbled, turning towards the customer. My eyes widened. He was undeniably handsome. Dressed in a black shirt with the top two buttons undone, he definitely wasn't your typical cake shop customer.
"Hello sir, what can I get you?" I managed, trying to sound professional despite my heart simping over this guy.
"Hi, I need a cake for my sister," he replied.
"What kind of cake would you prefer, sir?"
"I'll take a chocolate ice cream cake, please."
"Sure, sir. Savi,CAN YOU PACK A CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM CAKE " I called out to savi an employee who works here. "Is it your sister's birthday, sir?"
"Yeah," he replied simply.
"Actually, we offer complimentary gift cards with cake purchases. Would you like one?"
"Yeah, sure," he agreed, just as his phone rang. "Please excuse me for a minute."
???'s POV
Stepping outside to answer the call, I was greeted by Abhishek's loud voice.
"Yoo, Shubman! Where are you, bro?"
"It's Shanel's birthday today, bro," I explained. "So I'm on my way home to see her and i stopped to grab a cake."
"Got the cake already?" Abhishek questioned.
"Nah, bro. The girl is packing it right now," I replied, turning to glance back at the cake shop.
"A girl? Hope you didn't try to frizz the girl up and get slapped," Abhishek teased.
"Dude, that only happened once when I was drunk, and you've reminded me of it a hundred times already," I groaned.
"A hundred and one now," he snickered. "But seriously, is she good looking?"
Hesitantly, I turned back for another peek. "I mean, yeah, she's pretty and kinda cute."
"Whoa, Shubman! What's happening?" Abhishek's voice was laced with amusement.
"Dude, nothing's happening. I gotta go. Talk to you later, okay? bye!" I stammered, hanging up before he could say another word.
Aakshaya's POV
"Savi, here," she called out. "Thanks. And please get me the gift card as well."
"Okay, wait," Savi replied.
I glanced outside, taking in the customer once more. He was quite tall, probably around 6 feet, and looked athletic. I bet he had abs.
"Here, Ma'am," Savi said, handing me the gift card. "If you need anything—"
"Yeah, I know, I know," I cut her off. "I'll call you if I need anything."
"No, don't call me. I'm going out for a delivery, so you're on your own," Savi informed me.
"What? How am I supposed to manage alone?" I asked, whining.
"Don't worry, Ma'am. It won't be that hard," Savi assured me before leaving.
Just as she stepped out, the customer entered the shop.
"Is it ready?" he asked.
"Yes, sir. Just tell me what you want me to write on the card," I replied.
"Hmm... Write 'Happy Birthday, Shanel,'" he requested.
"Shanel? I gusse that is a famous name" I thought to myself, "Here, sir. 1,000 rupees sir have a good day sir."
I handed him the cake, he payed and he thanked me with a smile before leaving.
As I watched him go, I couldn't help but think, "OMG, what did I just see? That guy had the cutest dimples I've ever seen!"
As the cute guy left, I heard a ringing sound. Looking around, I realized it was his phone. He must have forgotten it! With closing time fast approaching, I picked up the phone. The screen displayed the name "Abhishek."
I answered the call, only to be greeted by a high-pitched, agitated voice.
"You fucker! Why did you cut the call? Is it because I know you like that girl in the cake shop?"
"WTF," I muttered to myself. "Hello, sir. Your friend left his phone here at my cake shop."
There was a pause on the other end.
"Hello, sir? Are you there?" I asked again.
"Yes, I'm here," he replied, his voice calmer. "He left his phone there, okay? Can you wait a while? He'll come back and get it."
"I'm sorry, sir," I replied. "It's closing time, and I need to be somewhere. Can you tell me the address? I'll deliver the phone to him."
"Hmm, I don't know the address," he said. "I'll ask and let you know."
"Sure, sir," I replied, ending the call. I wasn't sure if this was good news or bad news, but whatever it was, it was going to be interesting.
