It took some time for Sid to digest what Rita Ji said. He looked at her with disbelief. How could she expect him to marry Sanjana?

Sid took a deep breath and said sternly, "Dopeher ko meri ek important meeting hai, main filhaal thoda rest karne jaa raha hoon. Mujhe koi disturb mat karna."

Like this Sid completely ignored the topic and left from there angrily.

"Sid kaha jaa raha hai? Maine kuch kaha tujhse. Sid....."

He didn't listen to her. Sanjana felt sad seeing it but she shrugged it off and went behind him.

"Maa kya zaroorat thi aise waqt mein inn dono ki shaadi ki baat karne ki? Aap ne kitna embarassed kar diya dono ko." Said Mahi to Rita Ji.

"Kya galat kiya maine? Sanjana itni acchi ladki hai, Sid ki dost hone ke saath saath humare parivaar ka hissa bhi hai. Khush rahega woh shaadi ke baad." Said Rita Ji.

"Par Aunty woh dono sirf friends hai. Shaadi karne ke baare mein socha tak nahi hoga dono ne." Said Jay trying to make Rita Ji understand. Being Sana's brother, somewhere he was feeling bad.

"Aur toh aur Sid shaadi ke liye ready nahi hai. Aap uski feelings bhi toh samjhiye." Said Mahi.

Rita Ji rolled her eyes and said, "Kyu ready nahi hai? Woh 7 saal purani baat ke liye? Mahi yeh sab kuch nahi bas kamzor hone ki nishani hai. College life mein aisa bohuton ke saath hota hai. Dil tut te hai wapas jud bhi jaate hai. Uss wajah se koi bhi apni puri zindagi akele nahi guzaar ta. Aur kya Maa ho ke mera aisa chahna galat hai ki mera beta khush rahe, shaadi kar ke settle ho jaaye?"

Rita Ji paused for a while and then said looking at Jay with teary eyes, "Beta teri behen ke liye mere dil mein koi gila sikwa nahi hai. Usne bas practically socha. Usko laga iss ladke ke saath uska koi future nahi hai aur woh apne parents ke saath wapas laut gayi. Lekin dukh iss baat ka hai ki mera beta emotional nikla. Isliye aaj tak wahi pe atka hai. Paata nahi aisa kab tak chalega."

Saying that, Rita Ji left from there crying while Jay and Mahi looked at each other sadly.

Here, Sid entered his room and sat on the bed. He took the pillow and threw it on the floor being frustrated.

"I can't believe this. Maa aisa soch bhi kaise sakti hai ki main Sanjana se shaadi karunga? Ho kya gaya hai unhe?" He said in his mind and face-palmed himself.

Suddenly Sanjana came to his room.

"Sidharth..."

Hearing her voice, Sid immediately said, "Look Sanjana, I'm really sorry for whatever happened there. I know how much embarrassing it is for you. Mujhe paata nahi Maa ne aisa kyu kaha par....."

"Relax Sidharth! It's ok, I understand." Said Sanjana interrupting. "Main jaanti hoon tumhare andar iss waqt kya chal raha hai. But as a friend ek baat kahu tumse? Unhone jo kaha uss baare mein tum ek baar soch ke dekh sakte ho."

"What?" Asked Sid frowning. "How can you say that? You know I have no plans of marriage."

"I know everything. Lekin Aunty tumhari Maa hai. Woh bhi toh galat nahi hai na? Woh bas chahti hai ki tum life mein settle ho jaao. Aur aaj agar humne maana kar bhi diya toh kuch dino baad woh phir se tumhe shaadi ke liye force karengi. Iss se accha hai ki kar lete hai hum shaadi. Aur filhaal toh Aunty sirf humein sagai ke liye keh rahi hai."

"But it's not a joke Sanjana. Sagai, shaadi yeh sab bina pyaar ke nahi ho sakti. Aur tum jaanti ho ki hum dono ke bich kabhi pyaar nahi ho sakta. Jo mere saath hua hai uske baad main kisi se bhi pyaar nahi kar paaunga."

Sanjana smiled sadly and nodded in yes. Then she said, "Thik hai. Hum dono ke bich kabhi pyaar nahi hoga. Lekin jo dosti humare bich already hai, usse toh hum shaadi ke baad continue kar sakte hai na? Aur baad mein family ke pressure mein aa ke kisi stranger se shaadi karne se behtar hai ki tum apni iss dost se hi shaadi kar lo. Kyu ki pati patni mein bohut expections hoti hai, sacche doston mein kabhi koi expectations nahi hoti."

"Par Sanjana tum mujhse kyu shaadi karna chahti ho?" Asked Sid being confused. "Yeh toh galat hoga tumhare saath. You are a nice girl. Tum kisi aise insaan ko deserve karti ho jo sach mein tumse pyaar kare. I'm not good for you."

"Sidharth tum khud nahi jaante you are the best. And I'll think myself lucky if I get a chance to marry you." Said Sanjana dramatically to which Sid chuckled.

He thought for a while and asked, "Aur agar shaadi ke baad kisi se pyaar ho gaya toh?"

"Chance nahi hai." Said Sanjana. "Kyu ki jaise tumne already kisi se pyaar kar liya hai, maine bhi kisi se pyaar kar liya hai. Ab phir se pyaar hona impossible hai."

"Pyaar kar liya hai? Kis se?" Asked Sid.

Sanjana smiled and said, "Nahi baata sakti. Top secret hai."

Saying that, she started leaving.

Suddenly she turned back and said, "Think about it Sidharth. Har kisi ko apni life mein koi na koi chahiye hota hai. Chahe woh ek dost hi kyu na ho."

Sid nodded in yes and said, "I'll think about it."

Then they waved each other bye and Sanjana left from there.

Sidharth started thinking deeply.

"Sanjana is really my true friend. If there is no expections from her side, marrying her can't be that bad." He said to himself.

On the other hand, Shubh and Sana went to Sana's home hurriedly as Sana got a call from her maid who told that her father's health deteriorated.

Entering Navjot Ji's room Shubh and Sana saw a doctor who was checking Navjot Ji.

"What happened doctor?" Asked Sana.

"Kuch nahi bas zyada der tak empty stomach rehne ki wajah se sayad chakkar aa gaya tha. He is fine now. But main suggest karunga ki Mr. Gill zald se zald apna ek routine checkup karwa le." Said the doctor to which Sana nodded.

Then the doctor took his fees and left.

"Inko khana kyu nahi diya abhi tak?" Asked Sana to the maid.

"Madam maine diya tha. Par inhone khane se maana kar diya hai. Keh rahe the aap ke saath hi khana khayenge." Said the maid.

Sana sighed and said, "Le aao inka khana."

The maid nodded and left. After she came back with a bowl of soup and gave it to Sana.

Sana then sat on the bed and brought the spoon near his mouth. Navjot Ji took a sip and then said, "Tum nahi khaogi? Aaj hum dono saath mein dinner karne wale the na?"

"Main bahar se dinner kar ke aayi hoon. Aap apna soup khatam kar li jiye warna phir se bimar padh jaayenge." Said Sana with a poker face.

Navjot Ji didn't say anything else and drank the soup.

After feeding her father, Sana was about to leave when Navjot Ji said, "Thodi der ruk jaati toh accha lagta. Kya itna sa bhi waqt nahi hai tumhare paas?"

"Unfortunately aap ke liye toh nahi hai Mr. Gill." Said Sana rudely and left from there with the bowl of soup while Navjot Ji sighed sadly. He himself ruined this father-daughter bond and now he was regretting badly.

Then his eyes fell on Shubh who was standing at the door.

"Shubh Beta, idhar aao." He said to which Shubh went to him and sat on the bed.

"Mujhe paata hai aaj Sana ki aankhon mein jo gussa, jo narazgi hai, woh sab main deserve karta hoon. Maine bohut galat kiya hai uske saath sirf uss aurat ki baaton mein aa ke. Kabhi apni bacchi ko baap ka pyaar nahi diya. Usse uske pyaar se bhi dur kar diya. Uss hi ki saza mujhe mil rahi hai. Lekin meri beti ne toh kuch galat nahi kiya. Toh phir usse kyu itni saza mil rahi hai? Woh aaj dukhi hai, udaas hai, akeli hai, sirf meri wajah se."

"Uncle abhi yeh sab chhoriye na...."

"Nahi Beta mujhe kehne do. Paata nahi main aur kitne din zinda hoon. Lekin jaane se pehle main apni Beti ko khush dekhna chahta hoon. Kya tum meri beti ko humesha khush rakhoge?"

"Main? Matlab?" Asked Shubh being puzzled.

Navjot Ji hold Shubh's hands and said, "Shubh tum bohut hi acche ladke ho aur tumne Sana ka bohut saath bhi diya hai, mujhse zyada uska khayal rakha hai. Tumse behtar life partner usse nahi mil sakta. Kya tum uss se shaadi karoge?"

Shubh couldn't understand what to say. Before he could reply, Sana entered the room and they both looked at her.

Navjot Ji left Shubh's hands seeing anger in Sana's eyes.

She smiled sarcastically and said, "You know what Mr. Gill, aap bilkool nahi badle. Aur aap se mujhe yeh hi umeed thi."

Saying that, she kept the medicines she brought near Mr. Gill and gave him a glass of water.

"Medicines le ke so jaaiye."

Saying that she started leaving from there angrily while Shubh went behind her to calm her down.

Sana went to her balcony and started crying silently thinking about everything. How easily her father asked Shubh to marry her. Without even thinking what his daughter actually wanted. Once again he didn't care to ask her and tried to impose his own decision. How self-centred he is!

Suddenly Sana heard Shubh coming and wiped her tears immediately.

Shubh stood beside her and said calmly, "Tu Uncle ki baaton ka bura mat maan. Woh teri fikar karte hai isliye kuch bhi bole jaa rahe hai."

Sana again gave a sarcastic smile and said, "Fikar? Kaash woh meri yeh fikar waqt rehte kar lete."

Shubh could feel the pain in her voice. He looked at her and asked, "Tu kabhi unhe maaf nahi kar sakti na?"

"Nahi Shubh. Sirf aur sirf unki wajah se maine apne sabse kareebi insaan ko kho diya hai. Kaise maaf karu main unhe? Haan ab unfortunately woh mere father hai isliye main unhe chhor nahi sakti. As a daughter main apni saari duties nibha rahi hoon thik jaise unhone mujhe itne saalon tak paala hai. Par unke liye mere andar ab koi emotions nahi hai. Main iss janam mein toh unhe apne Papa ki jagah nahi de sakti. He had lost it."

Shubh nodded understanding her point.

"Lekin Sana, ek baat puchu? Jis ladke se tu pyaar karti thi, ek baar uss se milne ki koshish kyu nahi karti? I mean ab toh koi problem nahi hai." He said further.

"I wish main aisa kar paati." Said Sana smiling sadly. "Humare alag hone ke baad ek saal tak uska treatment chala. Tab main uske paas jaati toh woh sach jaan ke bohut hurt hota. Sayad apna treatment bhi continue nahi karta. Uske baad main apni life ke struggle mein ulajh gayi. Punjab mein apni ek pehchan bana na, Mr. Gill ka treatment sahi se karwana inn sab mein itna ulajh gayi ki aur kuch dimag mein raha hi nahi. Aur jab tak sab kuch thik hua, tab tak bohut der ho chuki thi. Itne saalon baad uske saamne jaa ke khada hone ki himmat nahi hai. Aur jaati bhi kis muh se jab main khud uske bure waqt mein usse chhor ke gayi thi? Nafrat karta hoga woh mujhse. Jin aankhon mein maine humesha apne liye pyaar dekha hai unn mein nafrat dekhne ki himmat nahi hai mujh mein. Aur kya paata sayad uski zindagi mein ab tak koi aur aa chuki hai. Mere liye ab koi jagah bachi hi na ho uske dil mein. That's why I think hum dono dur hi thik hai."

Saying that, She chuckled painfully.

"Matlab tu sach mein puri life akele rahegi?" Asked Shubh to which Sana nodded in no.

"Akele kaha? Tu hai na mere saath? My true friend!"

Saying that Sana side-hugged Shubh making him smile as well.

Meanwhile...

Sid went to Rita Ji's room at night who was still awake and looking at the celling blankly. He entered her room and sat beside her.

"Kya hua? Kuch kehna hai tujhe?" Asked Rita Ji to which Sid nodded in yes.

He took a deep breath and asked, "Ek baat puchu Maa? Agar main Sanjana se sagai kar loon toh kya aap ko khushi milegi?"

Rita Ji smiled and said, "Tujhe kisi ke saath settle hota dekh mujhse zyada khushi kisi ko nahi milegi."

"Toh phir aap jaisa chahti ho waisa hi hoga. Didi aur Jay Bhaiya ke engagement ke din hi meri aur Sanjana ki...... engagement ho jaayegi. I have no problem." Said Sid making Rita Ji happy.

Rita Ji caressed Sid's hair and kissed his forehead. But Sid couldn't be happy from inside as he felt that he was doing something wrong. Still he agreed only for his mother.
