And Thea was the only one who had worked it out..

"I wonder what the next test is." Dan whispered, but Thea didn't reply.

"For the third test, you must hug your partner. It must be a proper hug, like you mean it. You have twenty seconds to complete this test. Go."

At first, Thea did nothing. She hadn't even heard the 'automated' voice speak, she was too engrossed in thought.

"Thea, come on!" Dan said, shaking her by the shoulder.

It was enough to pry her from her thoughts, and she looked up at him.

"What do we have to do?" Thea asked, "I wasn't listening."

Dan rolled his eyes, "clearly."

Before Thea could protest, Dan had pulled her into a tight hug, his arms firm around her.

"Hug me back!" He hissed in her ear.

"No way in Hell!" She snapped back.

"Do it or we die!" He snarled.

"Fine." Thea muttered angrily, and wrapped her arms around him.

There was a ping and then their tick flashed up on the screen.

Thea quickly let go of Dan and brushed his arms off.

"That wasn't so bad, was it?" Dan asked, the smirk clear in his voice.

No, it wasn't. Thea thought.

"Yes, it was." She said aloud, but jokingly.

"There is one pair who have refused to take part in the third test. They will now be removed. Do not expect to see them again." Crackled the 'automated' voice.

Metal doors swung open and the nightmare creature burst into the room. Its head turned to one  pair, Kiara and Damian, and charged towards them.

They tried to move, but it was too fast. It hooked its claws into their shirt collars and dragged them back through the metal doors which slammed behind them.

The last anyone heard of them were their terrified screams, and the savage shrieks of the beast, tearing into their flesh.

"Anyway, time for the fourth test. Each pair will nominate one member to do a physical test that involves running and other strenuous activity. Do this now, and would the nominated members please enter the door that is opening now."

Thea practically shoved Dan to his feet; he was one of the best at sport in the class.

Thea was more into being indoors than doing anything physical.

The same went for Michelle, Denise and Nina. They each shoved their partners forward.

As each of the partners disappeared, an uncomfortable silence fell over the room.

"So," Denise murmured, "you and Dan, aye Thee?"

"Shut up." Thea muttered, a rosy blush blossoming across her cheeks.

"Aww, she's blushing," Nina giggled, "Thee, why don't you be nicer to Dan? He's clearly into you."

"There's no way he's actually into me." Thea mumbled, and the room fell silent again.

The speaker system crackled. "The winner of the fourth test is Dan. Congratulations, you and your partner Thea now have two advantages."

There it went again.

How did they even know their names? What was going on?

The partners flooded back into the room and returned to their spots on the benches.

When Dan arrived back, he was panting.

Be nicer to him, Thea.

"Nice job, Daniel." Thea remarked, patting him awkwardly on the shoulder.

And then he started laughing. Not just a short chuckle or fake laugh, but a real one.

"What's so funny?" Thea questioned, restraining herself from cracking a smile.

"You," he chuckled, "you're just so weird, and I like that."

"Well, what can I say? Let's get weird." She replied.

"Attention students. The fifth test is upon us. Girls, you will now be required to sit on the lap of your male counterpart. Please do so now without fuss. You must stay like that until the completion of the sixth test. You have ten seconds."

"Oh God, I don't wanna." Thea complained.

"Too bad." Dan remarked, before wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her onto his thighs.

He kept his arms around her so she couldn't get to her feet.

"This feels wrong!" Thea laughed.

Their tick flashed upon the screen.

"What's the next test, Speaker Lady!?" Caleb yelled, sending everyone into fits of giggles.

"Well, Caleb, the seventh task is something you might not find so funny. For the seventh task, you must remain straight faced whilst our creature tempts you to scream. Anyone who moves will die." The 'automated' voice said.

Thea's eyes widened.
