Chapter Forty Two
Chapter Forty Two - "You Nearly Died Doing A Stupid Dare..."
___
Avery's P.O.V
"Look, you know you don't have to stay-" I get cut off by Logan again and he smiles at me, his hand over my mouth.
"I have been wanting to meet your parents for quite some time now. Even though I have had a few encounters with your father doesn't mean that I can't meet the rest of your family too." Logan says, smirking now and I groan, removing his hand from my mouth.
"But my father..." I mumble and Logan shakes his head.
"I understand why your worried, Avery but I promise you, nothing will happen. I will make him like me." Logan says and I frown at him. Logan smiles and grabs my face, pulling me in for a short but tender kiss. A knock at the door interups us and we both turn around to see Aunty Heather grinning at us.
"You two are so cute." Aunty Heather says and I roll my eyes.
"Is there a reason your at my door?" I ask and Aunty Heather laughs, placing a hand on her heart.
"God, your attitude definitely hurts me, Avery but yes, there is a reason why I am here. Your mom wants you both downstairs." Aunty Heather says and I nod. Aunty Heather walks off and I look at Logan.
"Are you sure?" I ask and Logan flicks my nose.
"Positive." Logan smiles and I roll my eyes at him before standing up and walking down the stairs. I walk into the kitchen to see my mom stirring something in the pot.
"Hey mom, we are here." I say and I quickly turn around to make sure Logan is still here. My mom turns around and looks at the both of us.
"I just want to tell you that your father is on his way home now so... I don't know, just get prepared for the worst." My mom frowns and I bite my lip at her words.
"Don't worry Mrs Leighton, everything will run smoothly." Logan says and my mom looks at Logan then at me.
"He isn't worried?" My mom asks me and I shake my head.
"Sadly no." I mumble and I hear Logan chuckle.
"Why does everyone think that this is going to go badly?" Logan asks and before we could do anything, we hear a door open and I close my eyes at my father's voice.
"I'm home!" My father says in a happy tone and I mentally pray before walking out to greet my father.
His mood is definitely going to disappear when he sees Logan.
"Hey dad, how was your day?" I ask him and he shrugs, hugging me for a quick second before letting me go.
"Alright." He says before making his way to the kitchen. When he enters it though, he stops right in his tracks and I watch as his eyes narrow at the person in the kitchen.
"Its you... in my house." My father says and I quickly run into the kitchen, standing beside Logan who is just smiling at my father.
Ugh, here it goes.
"Hello Mr-"
"What the hell are you doing here?" My father spits and I start to back away when my father looks at me, trying to seek an answer and Logan grabs my hand, pulling me to his side once again.
"I invited him for dinner." My mom speaks up and I gulp when my father looks up at his wife, narrowing his eyes at her.
"Why?"
"Because I would our daughter's boyfriend to stay for dinner."
And thats how it went downhill.

"So how did you two meet?" My mother asks as she sits down at the table next to my father. Aunty Heather sits next to my mom and Joshua takes a seat next to me.
"I'm praying for you, sis." Joshua whispers in my ear and I sigh, looking down at the lamb chops, vegetables and garlic bread on my plate.
"Well, it's actually a weird story." Logan says, tapping my thigh gently. I look up at him, realising why he is trying to get my attention.
"Wait, wait, so how did you two become friends again?" Emma asks, trying to calm herself down from her recent laughing attack. Sarah chuckles and nods. "Yeah, I want to hear it again." Sarah says and I tap Logan's shoulder repeatedly, flashing him a smile.
Oh no, he isn't going to do this...
"One night at a party, Avery was dared to climb across a ladder that was from one apartment room to the other and just to point out, she was really high up and Avery being the crazy daredevil she is, decided to do it but when Avery reached halfway, she fell, hanging onto the ladder with one hand. Since I was the closest, I chose to go and after many protests, she finally accepted my help and I saved her life." Logan says, grinning at me and I roll my eyes.
Cocky bastard.
"Why the hell would you even do that?" Joshua asks, turning to face me. I bite the inside of my cheek in annoyance.
"Oh gee, I actually don't know." I say through gritted teeth. My mom narrows her eyes at me in confusion.
"You nearly died doing a stupid dare... I don't know why you would do such a ridiculous thing, Avery." My mom says ans I nod, shrugging.
"I know." I say and my father crosses his arms over his chest.
"Now it's my turn to ask a question. That night when I found you both outside of my house... how come you didn't introduce him to me then? Why does it have to be now? You know how serious I take first impressions, Avery and by the looks of it, this boy is exactly how he was the first time I met him." My father says and I narrow my eyes at my father.
"And how was he the first time you met him, Dad?" I ask, ignoring Logan's hand which was holding mine to try and calm me down but I wasn't having any of it.
"He is a delinquent! Someone who disobeys the rules and does everything their own way! He probably only wants to get into your pants!" My father glares and I bang my fist on the table in anger.
"Maybe he is a delinquent but that doesn't give you the right to judge him! You think you can base someone off of what you first see in them! The whole first impression stuff is stupid because you think you know someone and their life story because of how you see them at first! You say how he is a delinquent but have you looked at yourself? I can't even believe your giving me shit because I am dating someone who is exactly like you!" I scream, pointing my finger at him as I lean over the table. My father's face is red now and he stands up, clenching his fists by his side.
"You say that he wants to get into my pants but how do I know if that's true coming from someone who is exactly like him. You probably wanted to get into mom's pants since you speak from experience." I say the last words slowly and everyone at the table turns into shock at my words but I don't care.
"Get out." My father spits and I smile at him.
"Gladly." I say and Logan follows me out. I walk out the door and look at Logan who is furrowing his eyebrows at me.
"Is this what you meant about everything and how it was going to go down badly?" Logan asks and I shake my head.
"No but I don't want to talk about this now. Can we go to your place for the night?" I ask Logan and he nods. We walk to his motorcycle and I put on the helmet. I get on the bike and wrap my arms around his waist, letting my nerves relax as I feel the bike moving forward.
