Scott adjusted his scarf around his neck and pushed through the frost-covered door of the coffee shop near the apartments where he lived. It was better than the Starbucks in the building, that's for sure. The manager there was drunk or high (or both) most of the time, and the coffee tasted like dirt. He didn't mind a walk.

He looked around, pretending to browse through the shelves full of coffee beans, and noticed a new employee at the counter. He grabbed a menu and idly flipped through it to pretend his eyes weren't fixated on the man serving coffee.

He certainly hadn't seen this guy before. He had purple skin and hair the same color, swept into a ponytail and kept in place with a brown bow to fit the dress code, as well as a permanent smirk. Scott was sure he was new to the town, too. But dang, was he cute.

When the violet man glanced up at him, Scott glanced down at the menu, nervous he'd got caught staring. As soon as the last customers got through the line, he stepped up.

"Welcome, what can I get ya?"

Oh geez. Scott got nervous enough with these simple social tasks like ordering coffee, but now there was a cute guy taking his order.

"Um..." His mind couldn't seem to settle on any one thing, even though he usually got a peppermint mocha or chai tea. "... surprise me."

"You got it."

Scott watched carefully as Vincent worked the machines, trying to keep his eyes of Vincent's butt. Eventually Vincent sat the large cup down in front of Scott, smiling and saying "Enjoy!"

Scott looked at the cup, wondering what was written on it since he'd never been asked his name. In neat Sharpie writing was "To the cutest man I'll see tonight- call me!" followed by a string of digits which Scott immediately added to his phone and marked with a heart.

He took a sip. Peppermint mocha.
