(Meadow's POV)

"Take the candy! Take it all! Muahahaha!!!!!!"

Well, Lloyd looked like he had everything under control. The serpentine were hypnotizing all the villagers and Lloyd was getting his candy. But I felt bad for the smaller kids, so when Lloyd had his back turned, I gave them some candy from the cart.

"Please don't tell him and stay out of sight." I would whisper to them and they listened.

Then I saw the general and his second in command turn a corner so I followed and his behind an alley.

"This makes no sssssensssse, General. Raiding an entire village for sssssweetsssss? He'sssss just a child!" Skales the second in command hissed.

"You will do as I command. Because I hold the sssssstaff." The General said. I gulped. I still didn't trust the Serpentine. There was a war with them so long ago........

I decided to go back so I wouldn't get caught. I moved away from the snakes until I bumped into someone, I looked and saw a serpentine soldier looking down at me, smiling evilly. My heart was racing and my hands sweaty. I was scared. I ran away and saw Lloyd.

"Hey, Meadow...! Are you okay......?" I felt my vision get foggy. Soon tears would pour.

"I'm f-f-fine......." I tried wiping the tears away.

"We've been friends for a while now, I know when something isn't right. What happened?" Lloyd grabbed both of my arms. I sighed and sobbed a bit.

"I-I just........I always cry when I'm scared it's normal for me......" I quivered my lip.

"So that's why you always get teary when someone spooked you at the boarding school. I'm sorry." He hugged me. This was weird, I wasn't used to Lloyd hugging me. But I felt safe and calm in his warmth.

Slowly I started relaxing and then I wiped my tears from my eyes.

"Better?" He asked. I nodded shyly. There was snickering. We both turned around and saw some low ranks watching and mimicking us.

"What? Can I not hug my friend when she needs it? Go get some more candy!" He stomped his foot on the ground.

"Ssssssorry!!!" The immediately ran away from us.

"At least I can have some candy now......want some?" Lloyd held up a chocolate bar. The temptations were high but I shook my head.

"Lloyd......don't you think this is too much?" I asked the hooded boy as he munched on a lot of candy in such short time.

"No oF coURsE NOt...!!!" He's getting a sugar rush........

"Lloyd, I think you should stop......." I tried to confront him.

"NO, I'M nEveR cOMingG dOWn FRom THis sUGaR HiGh! WhOOoo!!!!" How is he already on sugar rush in so little time? I saw the ninja come behind us.

"Lloyd snap out of it!" I tried shaking him. But to no avail.

"Sorry to bust your buzz little Garmadon." The ninja dressed in black said.

"But it's already past your bedtime!" The blue one ended.

"GET THEM!!!" Lloyd finally snapped out and called for the serpentine. The started towards the ninja.

"The serpentine? They're real?!" The red one was shocked.

"It's not just them we have to worry about. The whole village is hypnotized!" The black ninja looked behind him to see the villagers come after them as well.

The blue one raised his golden nunchucks but the white one stopped him.

"No, our weapons are too unstable. We might do more harm than good." He said in a intellectual voice.

"Then I guess that leaves us with....... RUUUUN!!!" The blue one shouted and they ended up escaping to the outskirts of town.

I pushed Lloyd away to hide. We ended up in an alleyway.

"Lloyd, we have to get out of here. I have a bad feeling about those ninja." I kept an eye out for eavesdropping folk.

"Meadow, well be fine. Plus, look at all the candy we got!" He giggled as he shoved more candy into his mouth.

"Lloyd! Stop! You're only hurting yourself!" I shrieked. He instantly turned towards me.

"I think someone is hungry....." He smirked.

"Well, yeah. I haven't eaten anything since this morning because you had this going on." I pointed at the cart of candy.

"You're not yourself when your hungry." He continued to smirk.

"Don't......" I growled.

"Have a......Snickers!" He laughed and tossed me the chocolate. I glared at him.

"C'mon try it! You've rarely have any candy anyways." Lloyd urged. I looked down at the Snickers bar.

"Well, just one couldn't hurt....."

(Lloyd's POV)

"Ugh...why did I eat that much candy...." Meadow moaned as we walked out of our hiding place.

"You really are weak. You only had six candy bars." I crossed my arms.

"But they were king sized......" She sighed.

"C'mon Meadow, we got this. Just a bit longer and we're free." I nudged her side. She wobbled a bit. Maybe that was a bad idea, she's never had candy before. What if there was something in it that she was allergic to? I probably poisoned her!

"Lloyd, can I rest for a bit?" She squeaked, pulling me from my thoughts. Her face was flushed and sweat formed on her forehead. She didn't look good at all.

We stopped at a small tree and she laid down on the floor in the shade, laying on her side and clutching onto her stomach.

I didn't know what else to do, so I started "petting" her. I ran my hand onto her head and tried to comfort her the best I could.

Eventually she fell asleep, sweat still beading her forehead and cheeks still flushed red. I held a hand on her forehead. She was burning up!

I must've fallen asleep as well, because when I woke up, the white ninja was looking at me sternly, the candy cart was behind him and Meadow was still sleeping.

"We should have dealt with you the first time." He said.

"M-my candy!" I said a bit dumbfounded.

"W-what's happening.....?" I turned to see Meadow had woken up.

"You. We warned you about Lloyd. You should be as much responsible for this as him." The ninja had pointed at Meadow. She stayed there shocked at him.

"I-I'm sorry....." She looked down. Out of the corner of her eye was a small tear. I growled and stepped in front of her.

"Hey! She didn't cause any of this! I did! And if you think you can just pin it on someone else, then you're not worth it being a ninja yourself!" I gasped when I saw the ninja's eyebrows tilt downwards in anger.

"Ok, time to go now. Ruuuuun!" I grabbed hold of Meadow's wrist, running past other serpentine.

"Retreat!!!!" I shrieked to them.

The general heard me as he cried out the same words.

We rushed past the village, not looking back.

"Ugh.....I need candy!!" I groaned in hunger. We were back in the ice tomb, all the serpentine were tired and covered in scars and bruises from the ninja and I curled on the ground from my hunger. I heard a cough from behind me.

I turned on my side and saw Meadow walking towards me, her face was still flushed and she started getting a cold, but she still gave a small warm smile. She got down on the floor to get to my size.

"Lloyd I uh got you something." She handed me something and then I realized what it was. A king sized snickers bar. I stared at the candy and then at Meadow.

"Your not yourself when your hungry." She giggled and poked my cheek. She then got up and went into a corner where she slept.

I stayed in my spot there, for about a hour watching the serpentine and glancing down at the candy bar every now again. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Meadow was moving around and shivering a lot.

I got up from my spot and took off my cape. I gently lay it on her, she immediately calmed down, having a faint smile on her face.

I felt the corners of my mouth lift up as well.

"Sleep well."
