~*Fifth Chapter*~
*Major Cussing Warning*
"Take care of her please. I've searched forever for the right family, and I don't want to have made a mistake," Izuku mumbles to the woman before her, handing the quiet baby in his arms to her as small tears pricked the corners of his eyes.
"Of course, sugar. Don't you worry 'bout a thing, Eri will be just fine with us. Oh and by the way, sweety, before you leave, I just wanna know one thing," the woman stated bluntly to the green-haired male, swaying back and forth slightly to keep Eri calm. "How are you connected with my new child?"
Izuku stopped in his tracks, as he had begun to walk back to the van he came in as soon as he handed the brown-eyed child to the woman behind him. He thought for a moment, just for a moment, before answering,
"I guess you could say I used to be a friend of her mother." Before the foster mother that had only just taken in Eri could comment about his response, Izuku resumed his way back to his transportation, the rising feeling of guilt trying to make its way into his brain and infest his everything; the feeling of being forced to feel emotions that he didn't want to feel; all of it being too much for him to handle.
'Why do feelings exist when jobs like these exist too?!' he frustratedly asked himself, accidentally saying the thought aloud as he tried to put a cap on the overflowing remorse that was practically seeping from his pores.
"You okay, Midoriya?" Shoto asked of the green-haired male, not bothering to address what Izuku had just said in case he would feel uncomfortable if he brought it up.
Izuku simply nodded at this and kept quiet while the van sped off back to the academy. Surprisingly, Katsuki didn't say anything about the exchange that ah shuts taken place between Izuku and Eri's new family, he was too preoccupied with thinking about what Izuku said when he left the apartment; a baby in his arms confusing the hell out of Katsuki the most.
"Did you get rid of the target, Deku?!" Katsuki angrily asked Izuku, eyeing the small human that was being held in the 16 year olds' arms slightly.
"Yes."
"Is she our second target?!"
"Yes."
"What the hell is wrong with-"
"Kacchan, can you please just leave it alone. I got the job done, and that's all you care about, right?" Katsuki was stunned once again by Midoriya's words, recovering with his usual angry face put on to conceal his racing thoughts that bounce within his head.
He didn't say much after that.
It took them the same amount of time it took to get to their target's place to get back to U.A., so the three boy's didn't have to stay in the van with each other for much longer.
Not that they were paying much attention in each other in the first place to really care.
"Okay you three, since you've been gone for most of the night, you don't know about the whole from system thing yet. Basically, after everyone goes on their first ever mission, they are allowed to move into the dorms that come with the academy so it's easier to go on last minute jobs or get access to equipment faster.-"
"-You have the choice to stay at home or move-in, what are your choices? Make it quick, because I don't have as much patience as you might think I have," Mr. Aizawa explained as Todoroki, Midoriya, and Bakugo hopped out of the once-moving, black vehicle.
"I'll move-in," they stated unanimously, not a single hint of hesitation in any of their voices. The three of them looked at each other with looks of slight confusion and anger. You can guess who the last one belonged to.
"And why the fuck are you extras goin' here?" Bakugo asked coldly, not as much malice as he planned to have was dripping from his tone.
"Did you not just here what Aizawa-sensei said? There are way more pros to moving into the dorms then there are cons, so it's obvious as to why we would choose to come, Katsuki," Shoto answered, Izuku humming in agreement.
Katsuki scoffed at Shoto's response, and quickly asked his teacher so he didn't have to stand there any longer,
"We can start moving in whenever we want to, yeah?"
Aizawa merely nodded, too tired to tell him that it was middle of the night, and it would therefore be better if he just waited until the next day to do anything remotely move-in related.
Katsuki nodded at Aizawa's nod and stormed off towards the building that sat right next the U.A. building that quite obviously held the dorms.
"Well, I'm going to bed-no wait, let's be honest. I'm not going to bed until 4 in the morning grading papers and watching cat videos, and I'm going to hate myself for it in the morning because I have an assassination to do. Fucking perfect," Mr. Aizawa mumbles to himself as he started to walk off to a car parked in the parking lot they were in.
The van was long gone by then, leaving Todoroki and Midoriya standing in the middle of the lot, looking anywhere but each other as they thought up what to say in the awkward moment.
"Todoroki-kun?" Midoriya ended up saying, finally having built up enough courage to look at his dual-haired acquaintance.
Shoto, in turn, swiveled his head so he was staring straight at the shorter male with an inquisitive look taking over his features.
"Yes, Midoriya?"
"W-would you...would you like to be...um...y'know what? Forget I even said anything. Let's just go home so we can try and beat Kacchan-"
"Do you want us to be friends, Midoriya?" Todoroki interrupted, tilting his head to the side a bit as looked Izuku up and down while he seriously asked the question.
Izuku stopped the fidgeting he had started to do out of nervousness when he had tried to ask the very question Shoto had beat him to out of shock, wondering if the taller teen next to him had really meant what he said.
"So? Friends it is?" Todoroki asked again, this time letting another very small smile slip onto his face in spite of his usual monotone facade.
Without thinking, Izuku nodded his head vigorously as if he were a child that was just offered ice cream, before realizing how stupid he was acting, and looked away embarrassingly.
Accidentally letting out a string of chuckles escape past his lips, Shoto let his amusement of Izuku's actions shine through a bit as he only just noticed that Izuku was way more awkward around people then he thought at first.
"C'mon Midoriya, we don't have time to waste, yes?" Shoto waves his hand towards himself to get Izuku to walk with him to his car, thinking that he should just drop Izuku off at his house, then he could go to his own.
Izuku let Shoto stroll on his own for a moment, because he was still marveling at the fact that Shoto had laughed. And with Izuku there to witness it as well.
Izuku was honestly kind of scared at how much Shoto has been smiling these past couple weeks because at the start of the year, he was quiet, and rarely ever showed emotion. He thought that at the bare minimum, Todoroki had been possessed by something more care free, because this was definitely new.
Though, Izuku was at least glad that Shoto was coming out of his shell, little by little, so he let his thoughts go for a moment, so he could take time to appreciate the fact that he had another friend. Another someone that cares about Izuku.
'And another someone for you to lose,' a thought from the deep, dark crevices of his mind formulated at the front of his mind, giving him another thing to think about.
'Later. I'll address you...later,' he told the thought, running a bit so he could catch up to Shoto, not even bothering with wondering where he would be taking him.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
"Hah?! Why the fuck are you two doing the same thing I'm doing?" Katsuki shouted angrily at the two people that were taking brown boxes out of a car like him.
"Because we can Kacchan, now I'm gonna go set down the very few boxes that I've packed full of my stuff, and then I'm going to help you. And you're not gonna complain at all! Sound good? Yay!" Izuku stated sassily, carrying two boxes stacked on top of each other to front door of the dorm building.
"Wait-hold up. No! I can do it myself! I don't need you to help me, ne-"
"Shh, just let it happen, Katsuki. Just let it happen," Shoto hushed his friend, of whom was slowly but surely evolving into one of his closet friends. Not that either of them would ever admit that out loud, of course. He picked up one of his boxes and went into the dorms shortly after Izuku, leaving the fuming blonde to behind to follow after him.
Katsuki grunted as he grabbed his own box and grumbled under his breath,
"Damn extras." Little did anyone know but him, that the faintest of smiles crept its way onto his face as he stomped to his own dorm.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
"Okay, that should be last of everything, yeah?" Midoriya confirmed, putting his hands on his hips as looked around his ash blonde partners' dorm to check in case him or Katsuki had forgotten anything.
"You done yet, guys?" Todoroki asked as he leaned against the dorm frame with an impassive look on his face, having finished moving everything around the same then Midoriya and Bakugo had.
"Yeah, now why don't both of you get the fuck out of my room before I make you!" Katsuki shouted, roughly shooing Midoriya towards the door as Shoto held his hands up.
"Sorry Midoriya, but my dad is gonna kill me if I don't take the car back soon, so I can't drop you off at your house. Is that okay?" Todoroki confessed, searching Izuku's face for any kind of bad emotion with slight worry slipping into his tone.
Midoriya didn't even flinch at this information because he ultimately thought this might happen, so he just shook his head.
"That's fine with me, Todoroki-kun. See ya later!"
"Yeah, see ya," he muttered back, only allowing his eyes to show the slight happiness he was feeling as he pushes off the doorframe and left.
Adjusting the t-shirt he changed into once he had gotten home, Izuku stood in the same place Shoto had and didn't say anything; not wanting to disturb his never-not-angry partner.
Katsuki made no move to make Izuku go away like he did earlier, just simply got up from where he was sitting on his bed and immediately went for one of his boxes, cursing when he realized that he didn't have anything to open them up with.
"I have box cutters, Kacchan. Want me to bring them for-"
"No! I don't need your damn help, Deku," Katsuki yelled before Izuku could even finish his sentence, then shaking his head and sighing deeply once he looked at the "really?" look Izuku was sporting.
"F-fi-fin-"
"Oh for gosh sakes!" Izuku exclaimed in exasperation, throwing his hands up into the air and walking out of Katsuki's dorm, only to walk right back into it a few moments later with the razor he was talking about in hand. He walked up to Bakugo and cut the box that he originally went for, handing it to him after, and muttering something under his breath like, "...gotta be independent all the time, all the damn time..." as he walked out again.
Bakugo stood there for a second, just staring at the cutter in his hand, before shrugging and continuing to open boxes with it.
After he was done slicing the tape that sealed the cardboard boxes closed, Bakugo slowly unpacked the clothes and decorations that he had stuffed in them, already having a plan for how he should organize everything. Izuku did the same, except, he went one box at a time. He'd open it, unpack it, put the stuff that was inside where he thought it was supposed to go, then moved onto the next box.
The two of them didn't end up going to sleep for about an hour after they were done unpacking, but neither of them cared. They didn't have a busy day the next day anyways.
They were right, of course. But the couple days after that...
That was a whole 'nother story.
Heyyyy y'all! Sorry I didn't update yesterday, I was just being a lazy fucc and had zero motivation and barely any inspiration, so yeah.
