Night Time: Hour iv. - The Harshness of Bad Luck
Delirious woke up to a pounding in his head.
Darkness consumed his eyesight as he tried to look around. All he could see was a large hole that was above him -- a bit of electricity visible due to the explosion messing it up. And all of a sudden, a fit of coughs came over him as he felt dust and smoke go down his throat. This was one of those rare moments where he longed for a sip of water. The only question that swam around in his head nonstop was: 'Where the hell am I?'
Delirious clutched the pebbles beneath the palm of his hands as he tried to calm himself down. As he did this, he heard the sound of echoing voices all around him. This made him freeze. He looked up from where the floor supposedly was and listened closely. To his dismay, the voices were muffled by the ringing in his ears or whatever objects that were blocking them. As he let out his last fit of coughs, he got up shakily and tried to adjust his eyes to the darkness. Of course, not everything was dark, but it was still hard to look further ahead. Suddenly, he heard a soft groan coming from right next to him. Surprised, Delirious kneeled down and tried to recognize who the voice came from, ". . . Hello?" He croaked.
The groaning stopped and the individual said, "D-Delirious? Is that you?" It was Carlos.
"Carlos?" Delirious responded as he scooted closer to him, finding his hand and helping him up. "A-Are you okay?"
"S-Si, at least, I think." The mexican tried reassuring.
Delirious looked around, his eyesight getting a bit better, but not completely. All of a sudden, the voices got a bit more clear, and they were all asking the same thing: 'Has anyone seen Delirious or Carlos?'
"We-We're here!" Delirious said as he slowly approached the voices. But he was suddenly stopped by a large rock-like wall that was coincidentally blocking his path.
"Did you hear that? Vanoss! Is that you?" Another voice came to the left of where he was standing.
Delirious didn't budge though, he couldn't risk running into one of Vanoss's henchmen. But at the moment, he didn't care. Delirious decided to yell again, "G-Guys! I'm right here!"
"Lui, I heard him!" It was the voice of Wildcat. "He's behind the bigass rocks!"
"Y-Yeah! I'm here- well, we're here. Carlos is okay too." Delirious explained with a gruff voice due to the debris.
"There's no way to get to you. . ." Lui explained, although Delirious had to put two-and-two together due to Lui's voice being muffled.
"There has to be!" Moo protested with concern.
"I mean, we'd have to get out of these sewers in order to get to you."
"What about that big hole up there! We could get up these rocks and get to them." Wildcat suggested.
"Unless you either want to, a. Slip on the rocks repeatedly or b. Die from electrocution, then go ahead."
Delirious looked up at the hole and winced from the sudden sparks of light. "I'm not taking those chances. . ."
"So. . . We'll meet you on the other side?" Lui asked.
Delirious kept quiet while he was deep in thought. Of course it was possible to find a way out, but the real question was, what would happen afterwards? Would they actually find them in time? Or before they bump into some other group? Beside him, Carlos nodded, "S-Si! Claro!"
"Alright, meet us at the entrance of this bank. If you don't see us, camp somewhere nearby. Remember, stay safe." Lui said, concluding their muffled yet understandable conversation.
Delirious frowned to himself, just as Carlos looked over at him, "So. . . What now?"
"We. . . We could always stay in the sewers until the purge ends." Delirious suggested.
Carlos gave him a weird look, "En serio? Y-You're just going to give up now?"
"I'm sorry, but did you almost forget that we nearly died?!" Delirious hissed. "Explosions aren't exactly that motivating."
"I remember, b-but cowering down in the sewers was not mi plan from the beginning. If you wanted to run away with your tail between your legs th-then you should have just stayed at home." Carlos patted the dust from off of his pink shirt.
Delirious furrowed his eyebrows, but he realized that Carlos was right. The whole point of the Purge was to survive and thrive, even if you were sitting comfortably at home. "I know but. . . What do we do once we get out?"
"T-Try our absolute best to stay alive, I guess. . ." Carlos said unsurely.
Delirious didn't like that answer.
"Try? We have to." Delirious remarked gruffly. "Not just that, but we have to walk around in a sewer for another hour."
"Be lucky we didn't die f-from las piedras." Carlos pointed over to the large oversized rocks.
"I guess so. . ." Delirious murmured as he looked down at the floor for supplies.
He kept searching until his eyes laid on a figure with a red coat. Delirious's eyes widened as he backed up from the currently limp individual that was right in front of him. Vanoss.
"Who is it?" Carlos asked when seeing the concerned look on Delirious's face. He looked down and his eyes widened when seeing Vanoss as well. "Is. . . I-Is he. . ."
"I don't know. . ." Delirious answered breathlessly. He crouched down to get a closer look at Vanoss's body, hoping internally that the owl man was dead. He slowly grabbed ahold of his wrist, and pressed onto it -- hoping he won't find his pulse. He sighed in relief, but his inner celebration was quickly ruined by the sudden faint pulses coming from the said dead man's wrist. "He's. . . Still alive." Delirious confirmed as he stood up immediately.
Carlos's eyes widened and he took a step back. "B-But, he's asleep, no?"
"Unconscious. But he can wake up at any moment. We should leave before he does." Delirious felt disappointed to find out that Lui's little stunt hadn't worked out as planned, but it wasn't really the monkey's fault.
"Y-Yes, buena idea. . ." Carlos agreed shakily while grabbing a backpack up from the ground.
That was when Delirious looked down at the backpack that was near Vanoss. Taking his chances, Delirious quickly got ahold of it. He opened it and sighed in relief when he picked up a flashlight. "Alright," He immediately turned it on, "let's go."
Carlos nodded and started leading the way, with Delirious walking right behind him.
But his worries came back to him when an unexpected force stopped him and held a sharp object against his throat. With wide eyes, Delirious slowly gazed at the familiar Asian with a grin plastered onto his face,
"Now where do you think you're going, clown?"

Just a quick question <.< >.>
Are the Watty awards a thing I should be striving towards for this book?
