07 - We'll kill them and throw them in the trash where they belong

Wow, a punching bag seemed like fun. At least, that's what you thought. Right now, you're just laying down on your stomach, arms crossed, on the ground, staring at the equipment.

Ugh, this is so boring. I have the stuff to train with, I just... that looks like so much effort. Think, (y/n). Boredom or exhaustion?

Realizing that, either way, you were going to be exhausted mentally, you decided that working out physically would be a better idea. That is, if you actually knew what you were doing.

The book with fighting techniques? Absolute gibberish.

The punching bag? Feels like it's made out of fucking steel and weighs a ton.

The weights? Just looking at them makes your arms hurt.

The gym clothes? ...okay, you had to admit that those were pretty comfy.

Motivation? Never heard of her. Must be hanging out with Deku right now, and is too occupied to pay you a visit, because there is no way you have enough mental determination to get up and even touch the training equipment.

But... you don't have anything else to do.

"Damnit, body. Let's fucking do this thing" you tried to give yourself a pep talk.

You got up with a groan, and turned towards the closet. You had folded the exercise clothes - out of boredom - and found the pile exactly where you left it. Grabbing some shorts and a tank top, since no one is going to see you working out anyways, you quickly changed from the current cotton tank top and oversized sweatpants you used as pajamas. The oversized clothing were really a stroke of luck, because you couldn't imagine any of the uptight men caring for such things.

"Okay, so now we... plan. Yeah. Let's check out the book thingy"

It was in Japanese. The notes, the actual text, basically everything except the drawings, which can't exactly be in a certain language now, can it? But... if this isn't a dream, how do you know another language?

We'll have to figure that out later.

You flipped through the book, glancing at the sketches, showing the right position to be in for... a roundhouse kick? You'd heard that term before, but wasn't entirely sure what it meant. Flipping through some more , you saw punching techniques, kicking, self-defense, everything. Wow, this may actually be pretty helpful.

Now... what do you do? Do you just punch the bag? That's it? No, that's too simple. However, you don't exactly know what other options you had. Looking at the punching bag, you cocked your fist back and gave it your best hit.

That motherfucker didn't even budge.

"Ugh" you groaned, shaking your wrist in pain. Obviously, there's more to just "punching" than you were led to believe.

You flipped through the book, and found an entire section dedicated to punches.

"Well, fuck" you mumbled. "Alright, (y/n), let's be smart about this. How about I ask for paper and pencil, and we make a plan, instead of trying random shit? Yeah... that's a better idea"

Glad you'd found a reasonable excuse to avoid physical exercise, you tossed the booklet across the room and flopped down onto your bed for another prolonged uselessness session.

(Overhaul POV)

He should probably go to sleep.

Overhaul hadn't slept all night. Not because he was restless, or just couldn't fall asleep, but because he was up working. In rumors and stories about the young leader of the Yakuza, one thing was consistent:

He works hard to get what he wants.

No whining, no complaining that life isn't fair, no relying on other people; if he wants something done, he'll do it himself. If the law wasn't against him, he'd be considered a hard working business man, and a successful one, at that. Coming from... filthy beginnings, but look at him now.

On the verge of getting his arms ripped off.

He didn't spend all night twisting and turning in bed, he spent it taking notes, examining his future. At first, he believed this could have all been a prank of sorts, but the evidence in the Boku no Hero Academia manga seems very compelling. For the majority of the story, he isn't mentioned. He needed to flip through quickly, only to find that he appears for but a brief moment.

He doesn't exactly know how to feel about that. The way they portrayed him makes him look... weak. Like he isn't worth any of that student bastard's time. Like he isn't worth any of that Hand-man bastard's time. Like he's just a... B-Rank villain? A B-Rank villain??? He's even more powerful than the main antagonist, doesn't throw tantrums at every chance he gets, and has an actual plan to rule the underworld, and he gets classified as a B-Rank villain?? Why does he fall so quickly? How? In fact, the answer is quite simple;

Because of Eri.

That's the only possible conclusion to draw; Eri is the foundation of his downfall. She escapes, alerting the heroes of their not-so-legal activities, she heals that bratty kid with the green hair so he has enough power to defeat him, she is the main motivator for the attack on their underground lair. Since he discovered the portal, Eri hasn't been tested on. She's slowly recovering, and Overhaul couldn't be more thankful for that (y/n) woman.

(y/n)... it's because of her that he has such an advantage the rest of the world. Since she introduced them to the story, Overhaul has an idea of what he needs to avoid to reach his goal. Actually, no, it isn't. It's not because of (y/n) that he has this advantage; it's because of his own hard work. Yes, that makes more sense; he put out the order to fetch the man with the dimension quirk, and look in other universes. Once more, it's because of him that the Yakuza can prevail.

Pops will be so proud.

He isn't a very arrogant man, but the progress he made overnight was palpable. Overhaul successfully made a list of all the possible threats, their disgusting quirk, how dangerous they are, where they'll be, etc. Most importantly, he now knows to keep Eri under lock.

"Overhaul" Chrono's voice brought him back from his sleep-deprived thinking, once again. "You called for the Eight Precepts, and here they are"

Surely enough, all of his closest underlings waltzed into the room.

"The fuck, why're we 'ere, Overhole?" Rappa cursed with his disrespectful tone, as usual. He's truly a wild card, but Overhaul was hoping Tengai would be able to tame that attitude.

"Rappa. Shut up" Tengai intervened, as if on cue.

"We'll make this brief" Overhaul explained. "Then you all may go back to your jobs. There has been a certain... development, regarding (l/n)'s allegations--"

"Aaaaah... yEAh... that (y/nnnnnn) girl...." Deidoro slurred. God, this man is disgusting. His only redeeming quality is his loyalty. And, like the rest of them, he has nothing to lose, and follows orders blindly.

"We are, in fact, anime characters in her dimension"

"..."

"..."

"..."

"...Overhaul, Sir, are you certain about that?" Setsuno cautiously asked.

"Yeah! That sounds like fun! Am I the main character?" Rappa pumped his fists in the air.

"Of course not" Mimic said. "The Boss is, aren't you?"

"...that's irrelevant" he tried to avoid the subject at hand. "What is important is that we do get arrested, as (l/n) claimed"

Unintelligible screeching could be heard from Tabe, the human trash. "How!?!"

"Eri escapes for a brief moment, and catches the eye of two heroes"

"Are you... alleging that one of us is a traitor, and let Eri out on purpose?" Hojo guessed.

"Not at all. I've identified our incompetent employee and taken care of the issue" he explained, knowing that all his underlings knew exactly what he meant by taking care of the issue. "Chrono"

Just by the mere mention of his name, Kurono knew what to do; he grabbed the phone, and showed them a glimpse of a page of the manga. Not that they didn't trust Overhaul, but he felt as though it would be helpful to show them evidence.

Almost all of them, except Tengai, immediately started bursting into chatter, asking questions and yelling incoherently.

"Quiet"

One word from the leader was enough to capture their attention again.

"There are many things we learn from this, but it has also demonstrated that all of you proved to be loyal to me until the end. Once we finish this meeting, Chrono will show you the parts of the anime which are relevant to you. But, we have a more impending issue"

"And what is that?" Katsukame asked.

"What we will do about the League of Villains"

"League of Villains? (l/n) mentioned that before, didn't she?" Mimic tried to confirm.

"Yes, she did. Apparently, they try to join us"

"We don't need anybody to reach our goal"

"Unfortunately, that isn't true, Mimic. You see, this League attacks UA High, and gains an immense amount of infamy. Our goal is to restore the Yakuza, and to join with someone of their stature seemed to be the best option. That point aside, we now know that they cannot be trusted"

"Let's fight 'em!" Rappa yelled unnecessarily loudly.

"Rappa..."

"No, Rappa does have a point." Overhaul cut off Rappa's unwilling babysitter. "Should we exterminate them as soon as they appear, or focus on development of the bullets? That's the reason I called for you all to come here. I would like your input on this dilemma"

"Fight 'em!!!"

"No need to make unnecessary enemies right away"

"How can we verify the authenticity of the girl's phone's information?"

"We need to put those League bastards back in their spots!"

"We trust your opinion, Overhaul"

All answered once again in a frenzy of opinions. You'd really assume they'd be more civilized when addressing their superior.

Overhaul considered calling for quiet once more, but was tallying up their reasons in his head. Once he'd made a decision, he raised his hand to silence the room.

"Chrono. How are the tests on the pure DNA going?"

"Very well, Overhaul. We believe we'll get a permanent quirk-erasing bullet sometimes in the approaching weeks"

"..." the leader considered this. "Then, I believe we should eradicate any threats, once they make themselves visible. Make it brief, and they will not see it coming"

"Excellent choice, Overhaul" Chrono affirmed.

With a wave of his hand, he ordered the Eight Bullets to leave, and they did, after much chatter and gossip about the anime that they are apparently part of.

"Would you like me to leave as well, sir?" his right-hand man cautiously asked once they were both left alone.

"...has (l/n) touched the gift we left her?" Overhaul asked, intertwining his gloves fingers together and placing his elbows on his knees, leaning forward.

"We cannot be sure. She is due for testing in approximately an hour from now, so she has not left her room since yesterday... should we cease the testing?"

He let out a throaty chuckle. "Of course not. No matter how much information she gave us, she is still our prisoner. The training equipment was a kind gesture from our part, no need to do anything further. Make it clear to (l/n) that she should be grateful for our generous treatment, and that it will not happen again"

"Of course, sir" Chrono stiffened slightly.

Why did Chrono stiffen? What on earth could be the reason that he could tense up after receiving an order from his superior? He never questions anything. Out loud, he didn't complain, but his body language indicated that something was wrong.

But Overhaul doesn't have time to worry about such things.

-

"Tell me, Mr.Punchy Bagey, what's your favorite color?"

To say that you were on the verge of going crazy would be an understatement; you've already gone psycho. You've had several discussions with the equipment, and don't know what you're supposed to be doing.

You almost wished you were at school, doing normal university student stuff right now, instead. Almost.

"Ugh" you groaned, rolling so that you were now laying on your back, facing the ceiling. "Why isn't being kidnapped as fun as I thought it would be?"

Honestly, it could be worse; you could be getting abused more often, you could be getting awful living conditions, you could be spending all your time getting raped or doing slave work.

But you're not.

Shuffling outside your door brought you back to reality, and gave way to the creaking of your door.

"Miss (y/n)?" Chrono asked cautiously, peering through the small gap. You found it cute how he actually accepted your request that he call you by your first name instead of your last. Finally someone listens to what you have to say.

"Yessir!" you yelled maybe a bit too loud, reminding yourself that you are surrounded by another human being and must act accordingly. "What's up?"

"Uh... well, it is time for the testing" he mumbled slightly, looking towards the ground rather than at you.

That's weird.

"Chrono? Or Kurono, can I call you that?" you asked, to which he nodded. "Kurono, is there something wrong?"

"Not at a--"

"Then why won't you look at me properly?"

"...We must go. Follow me" he commanded, avoiding the subject completely.

"Wait. No, we're not" you stood your ground.

What the fuck am I doing??? (y/n), he can shoot you any time he wants.

But... there's clearly something wrong.

"(l/n), I--" he tried to counter, but you cut him off. Damnit, he used my last name.

"Kurono. I am not saying 'no', or resisting. I am just concerned for you"

"Concerned... for me?"

"Yes. Is that so hard to believe?"

"But all I've done was kidnap you..."

"So?" you shrugged. "It's not like you were given a choice. Also, you're being pretty chill. It's okay, I understand"

"You understand... being... kidnapped?"

"I-" you stopped yourself before you got sucked into his little game. "Stop changing the subject. What's wrong?"

He took a deep breath, and reached down into his pocket.

And pulled out the gun.

"Let's go" he pointed it at you, but the way it was slightly trembling made it clear he wasn't as confident as his voice purveyed.

You nodded slightly, remembering that you don't really know this man. You just know what was in the anime, which isn't a lot.

Still... something is off. And you need to figure out what.

-

Even torture is boring.

Technically, it isn't torture, but "testing", as they liked to refer to it. Tubes and cuts and knives and other pleasant shit stabbing your arms? That sounds like torture to me.

Apparently it isn't.

You had to clench your teeth to prevent yourself from screaming. Surely, if they're filthy rich, they could afford something to numb the pain, no? Is that too much to ask?

Apparently it is.

Kurono, surprisingly, didn't threaten with you the gun at any other point later that... afternoon? Morning? Night??? There was no way for you to tell how long you went without getting a gun pointed at you.

"Wow, what an achievement" you grumbled to yourself, throwing a punch towards the sac in the middle of your room.

"First" you panted. "They fucking kidnap me and steal the BNHA plotline"

You threw another punch.

"Then, they have the audacity to point their guns at me"

Another one.

"Those bitches! I was going to help them!"

Feeling pumped with adrenaline, you twirled around, throwing a roundhouse kick to the punching bag.

"Damnit! I'm here! I'm in this universe, and I'm stuck in some shady-ass basement, when I could be out there! Doing something! Why don't they just take my fucking blood and inject it into people? It's not complicated, you motherfuckers!"

Beating up the bag at rapid speed, you just kept throwing the punched and kicks with rage you didn't exactly know existed.

Once you eventually tired out, you slumped your back against the wall.

"One week...it's been 7 days... I'm still okay. You're still alive, (y/n). And you're kicking ass. Not literal ass, but soon you might"

It had been, effectively, 5 days since you were brought into Overhaul's office to explain the manga. You spent quite some time regretting telling them about that, but, if they had been going through your photo gallery, they would've seen the pictures anyways.

So... did you do the right thing?

That question had been haunting you for a while, now. Kurono didn't talk to you, but you were noticing that he was getting more and more gentle in his actions; even offering a gag to muffle your pained cries, as if he cared about you.

How sweet.

You groaned again as you slowly slid your back down, and sat on the ground with your legs extended. Your breathing was heavy, but you'd never felt lighter. Your shoes lightly tapped at the ground while you panted.

You had asked for that notebook and pencil, and they were given to you. When it came to training yourself, it had been slow, but now you can't remember a time where you didn't train. Of course, you weren't some super-human just yet, but you felt so much better doing this instead of nothing.

You lightly grazed your hand on the floor, and felt something fuzzy. Dust.

"Ew, is that dust? That's disgusting. I should probably go shower-- ahah! I sound like Chisaki, now. This place is really getting to me"

Fulfilling your own request, you begrudgingly got up, and headed towards the bathroom attached to your small room.

Just as you closed the door and started running the water, you couldn't hear the satisfied chuckle coming from behind your door.

"Interesting" Overhaul thought to himself. "Interesting indeed..."
