Mattie went out on the harness and leash and did really well. We didn't go on the sidewalk because I don't know how long dogs are at risk for parvo, and she hasn't had all her shots yet. But we went next door to see the neighbors. Their 15-month-old is obsessed with Mattie. When he saw her he screamed with happiness. She jumped up and wrapped her paws around his shoulders so they were the exact same height. He was laughing hysterically and hugging her. They were standing there holding each other.

Mattie watched him and his sister run through the sprinkler, and she was wriggling like crazy and desperate to join them.

Then we had another neighbor come over this evening, and she goes crazy with happiness whenever someone comes over. And the neighbor loved her.

When I took a shower I had to bring her in the bathroom with me because no one else could watch her. She was crying and howling when I disappeared behind the shower curtain. It was really distressing her. I kept looking out to show her I was just behind it. Then, she jumped in the shower. She hates water, but she sat right at my feet. She was soaking wet and staring up at me and blinking as the water went in her face. Somehow it was the saddest thing I had ever seen.
