chapter 52
KIKIOPE
For the past two weeks, I've been ignoring Khalid's call, school would be resuming in a week's time and I still find it hard to believe he won't be resuming with us. The holiday had been the most boring holiday ever, I was the only one at home so far Moye had gone back to school, all I did was sleep, eat, read and write.
I really missed Khalid and I'm so sad we didn't even get to say a goodbye and now I've been ignoring his messages and calls which I don't seem to understand why.
"Kikiope," Mama D called as she walked into my room. I looked up from the book I was reading, one I was reading for the third time. Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers was one of my favourite books and I enjoy it every single time I pick it up.
"Ma," I replied succinctly. It was Sunday afternoon, so, that explains why she's home.
"Your school would be resuming soon right?"
She queried and I nodded while wondering why she was asking.
"You said your school is making boarding compulsory for every one of you abi?"
I bobbed my head, "Yeah but you don't need to worry about the hostel fees, I'm on scholarship."
"Oh," she mouthed and I nodded.
"Okay then but you need to tell your father, you're his responsibility so, he should pay the money for your provisions abi it's included in your scholarship?"
I shook my head.
"Then you have to go and tell him."
I scrunched my brows. Why would I go to that useless man?
"Why? We don't need to collect any money from him nau."
"He has to pay for this, so, just go to his place to inform him, so, he'll send the money and you'll start your preparations," she explained and I creased my brows.
I protested, "But he..."
"See, Moye's dad is paying all her expenses, so I see no reason for your dad not to, infact collect the hostel fee from him gan."
I slumped my shoulders, "Maybe you should call him on the phone."
She stared at me as if I'd grown horns, "Why would I do that? Just go to his place, he's going to be around now."
I pursed my lips, "Can I go some other time?"
"No, I need to hear his response now."
I sighed before standing up, "Okay," then I picked up my phone from the study table and walked out of the house heading towards that irresponsible man's place.
"What do you want?" Abimbola bellowed immediately I stepped into their house.
I rolled my eyes, "I'm here to see your father."
"For what?"
I ignored her and headed towards his study before she grabbed me, "Why do you want to see him?"
I jerked my hand away, "It's none of your concern," then I climbed the stairs.
I didn't bother to knock on his door, so, I just strolled into the room only to meet him seated on the couch with Khalid's dad. Seeing his dad was getting me riled up but I decided to face what I'd come for.
"Good afternoon," I greeted.
They both looked up and I could see the surprise on my father's face.
"Kikiope," he called and I rolled my eyes.
"I came here because my mom wanted me to tell you that I'll be going to the hostel next term," I announced, and he nodded. Well, he should have known about it so far Abimbola and Abimbare would also be going.
"Oh, so, how much do you need?"
I raised my brows before replying, "₦150, 000."
"What!" I heard Abimbola shout as she walked into the room. I rolled my eyes not minding his response. Not like the money was much, to him it was a chicken change.
"Dad she's a thief, Kikiope is on scholarship so, she doesn't need up to that," Abimbola shrieked and I felt like slapping her.
"Better shut that gutter you call a mouth!" I eyed her before turning back to the person that called himself my father.
"I'll send it to your account."
"Good, should I expect it today or tomorrow?" I lifted my brows.
"I'll do that later in the day," he replied and I nodded before turning to leave, Abimbola glared at me while I ignored her, I didn't have the strength to start fighting with the dolt, halfway to the door, Khalid's dad stopped me.
I rolled my eyes before turning back.
"Are you communicating with Khalid?" He asked with concern evident in his voice.
I shook my head, "Not really, you should call him," with that, I walked out of the room not waiting for his response. The stupid man just made me remember him again just when I'd decided to forget about him.
I inhaled immediately I stepped out of the house and headed home with unsettled mind.

I dragged my feet into the room, other students looked at me but I dashed them a warning look before Bimpe and Doyin noticed my presence.
"Kikiope!" They chanted in ecstasy before jumping up to hug me. I laughed while embracing them in return, I'd really missed them, infact I missed everyone, the holiday was just like a forced life to me.
"You're also staying in our room?" Doyin asked immediately they withdrew from the hug.
"Yeah, I told your hostel mistress I wanted this room," I replied while scanning my eyes around the room painted in blue, it had four bunks that were opposite one another, making it only six students in a room.
"I also told her that too, anyway, did you come with just this few things because I've been telling Doyin you'll surely come with lot of things oo," Bimpe said and I smiled.
"They're outside, come and help me with it," I told them then we strolled out to get my belongings.
Minutes later, we were done, so, I settled on the second bunk that was right beside Doyin's bed, I learnt Bimpe was also staying at the lower bunk.
"Who is staying here?" I asked Doyin as I patted the upper side of the bed.
"One girl in SS1."
"I'll be staying there now, she can move to somewhere else or something," I said before jumping on the bed.
"Bimpe, that's enough nau," Doyin shouted at Bimpe who was still rummaging through my stuffs.
"Let me first take the chocolate here," she replied with a happy smile while I shrugged.
"Bring one for me too," Doyin shouted.
"And me too," I added. She nodded before joining Doyin and I on the bed that I'd just chosen.
"So any gist?" I asked.
Doyin and Bimpe shared a knowing look while I pursed my lips.
"You know Bimpe was just gisting me about her sweet holiday before you came," Doyin started while wriggling her brows with a wide smile.
A broad smile appeared on Bimpe's face as she slapped Doyin's shoulder. There's something fishy.
"So, what's the sweet holiday about oo?" I jested and they smiled before Doyin did the talking.
"Finally, Bimpe and Kunmi are now..." She twisted her brows and I creased my face.
"Wait, don't tell me they're now an item?" I asked with excitement.
"Yes oo," Doyin replied, I turned to look at Bimpe who was now grinning.
"Eh, eh, so, Bimpe you too can do it," I teased, and she eyed me playfully.
"So, we are waiting for you and Khalid oo," she replied and the excitement in me disappeared that instant to be replaced by a sad face.
"What's wrong?" They asked in unison.
"Khalid didn't tell you guys?" I questioned with raised brows.
"That what?" They asked concurrently and I chuckled at the way their voices moved together.
"That he's now in Ukraine and it's for good."
They looked at me in confusion.
"What do you mean?" Bimpe asked as she moved closer to me.
"He left just when the holiday started, seems he's parents would be getting divorced, so, his mom went back to Ukraine, and he had to go with her, there's no hope of him coming back."
Doyin furrowed her brows, "You mean Khalid didn't come with you?"
I pressed my lips together before nodding.
"But why? What happened?" Bimpe queried and I adjusted my sitting position to narrate the whole ordeal to them.
Bimpe and Kunmi are finally together oo
