Chapter 10 :

BROOKES POV

I woke up later than normal today but Michael offered to give me a ride to school since my car was in the garage for its annual test . I opened up my wardrobe and slipped on some underwear blue Mom styled shorts and a violet ribbed crop top. I slipped on my white converse and threw my books into my bag. I didn't do much with my hair just put it into a side braid and walked down the stairs.

I walk up the driveway with a big smile on my face and knock on the door. It swings open to reveal my mother with her arms crossed.

''Where have you been?'' she says

''Uh... with Ava. Like i sa-''

''No you wasn't. Do not lie to me Brooklyn.'' she scolded I hated it when she used my full name

''How would you know?'' I bit my lip looking up at my furious mother.

''Katie called. Asking you if you were going to the cheer meeting at her house. To pick outfits for nationals... oh I told her there must be a mistake because you would never miss a thing like that and you was with Ava. Ava was ill in bed with the flu!!.'' .... oh shit.

''I... '''

''EXPLAIN YOURSELF.''

''I was with Michael.'''

''Who.?''

''M-''

''That Punk who brought you home at 3am! Jesus christ I told you to stay away from him... I've asked around he is no good Brookyln.'

''Mum he is really sweet he took me on the best date I've ever ha-''

''DATE?What about Ryan?''

''Mum will you forget about him ! He literally cheated on me with my best friend Katie and you still want me to be with him. Michael makes me happy and ... and...''

''AND WHAT?''

''He's my boyfriend now.'' I mumbled My mothers eyes widened and for the first time she was speechless... I stood there for a good minute before words left her mouth again.

''Get to bed.'' she said and with that I ran up the stairs and went to bed.

I walked down the pavement and Michael soon pulled up in his  car. He leaned over to unlock the door and I got in sitting next to him placing my bag on my lap and making sure I had all the right textbooks with me. I had been studying most of the week and had every book possible out so I wanted to make sure I didn't forget anything this morning.

''Morning.'' I smiled

''Morning.'' he huffed.

''You look tired?'' I laughed examining his droopy eyes and his hair that looked messier than usual.

''Well normally I dont wake up until late that it why I'm always late into school.'' he yawned

''Aw poor you.'' I laughed pinching his cheeks. He rolled his eyes and started the car making our way to the school.

Walking into school everyone seemed to be staring at me. Normally I'm okay with it but they're staring at me for a new reason not because they are jealous and scared of me but because I'm holding onto Michaels hand. The people who do make eye contact with me soon look away when Michael looks towards them. A group of girls start muttering and I can here my name being bounced around.

''Got something to say?'' Michael asks one of them, the girl in the middle shakes her head and looks back down at her phone. I chuckle a bit and pull on Michael's arm to walk away.

''That was mean.''

''Yeah but they were talking about you.'' he sighed

''I'll be fine. I just need to go switch some books. I'll see you in English''

''Its okay i'll come with you.'' he offers

''It's fine Michael. You dont have to.''

''I want to.'' he blushes a bit and I roll my eyes taking his hand and walking to my locker.

I'm just about to go and open my locker when someone... calls my name. Katie. I turn around and force out a smile at Katie and a few other of the squad walking towards me. Michael squeezes my hand and I squeeze it back to try and comfort him before these girls rip him to pieces.

''Where were you?'' Katie asks

''Wha-... Oh shit we had practice this morning? I'm so sorry I completely forgot.''

''Yeah and where were you on Sunday we were picking outfits fo-''

''Nationals, I heard.'' I pulled my hand from Michael and folded my arms.

''So have you got any explanation for not showing up.''

''She was with me.'' Michael says Katie steps back and eyes up Michael taking another step back and fiddling with her hair.

''Um...'' she is lost for words clearly intimidated by Michaels presence the rest of the girls behind mutter to themselves and Ava gives me a half smile as she stands silent. Katie narrows her eyes at me and pulls me to the side I put my finger up at Michael to tell him to wait and he nods staring down at his feet.

''Katie?'' I ask

''What? What? What are you doing with that.?''

''He's my boyfriend.''

''YOU'RE WHAT? This is such bad reputation for the squad we can't have hi-''

''No what's bad reputation is the co-captain sleeping with the captains boyfriend. We were supposed to be best friends!'' I snap at her

''Ex boyfriend... I wouldn't touch that.'' she rolls her eyes and points to Michael.

''Good.'' I say and turn around to go back to my locker.

''Yo-''

''YES I'LL BE AT PRACTICE TONIGHT.'' I yelled and Michael chuckled at this.

''Feisty one you are.'' he laughed

''Shut up yoda. ' I joked and grabbed my books making my way to first class.

The school day went pretty much the same except Michael hung around with me for at our first lunch break. The second I'm not sure where he was I think he was with his mates which I totally respect him. He can't just be all over me he has to have fair equal time for his friends too... I took this time to catch up with my squad and looked through the photos of cheer uniforms they had decided on. 

 I was relieved when the day was over, today was the worse it could get with people talking and bitching about me and Michael, tomorrow it will be old news and people will have to except he's my new boyfriend. I walked to my locker putting in some books I wouldn't need until tomorrow and taking my gym bag out. Two arms snake around my waist making me jump , turning around and smiling up at the little punk wannabe.

''Hi...'' he smiled

''Hey...'' I pecked him on the cheek and he pouted. I rolled my eyes but gave in and kissed him on the lips making him smile again.

''You're such a weirdo.'' I laughed

''So are you.'' he teased.

''I gotta go to cheer practice... I really can't be bothered today.'' I sighed he nodded and moved his arms away from my waist to get a better view of my facial expression.

''What's happening with football?'' I asked

''I got kicked off. No big deal'' he shrugged

''Michael.... this is all my fa-'' Michael placed his hand over my mouth to stop me from speaking

''Don't say it. Ryan's had it coming for years and it doesn't matter I wasn't really bothered anyway.'' he shrugged. 

''This isn't right I'll talk to coach.'' 

''Leave it Brooke.''

''I can at least try to explain theres no harm in trying.''

''Brooke...''

''Please'' I begged. I couldn't help but feel like this was all my fault. Although Michael says he wasn't bothered I know deep down he probably enjoyed playing something he was good at.

''Fine.'' He sighed shaking his head at me.

''I wish you could come to my band practice tonight''

''I wish I could too.''

''You can....''

''I can't.''

'''They can't control you Brooke. They also can't kick you off the squad'' he reminded me

''Yeah b-..''

''Ava's going to be there.''

''I thought Ava had the flu?'' I scrunched up my eyebrows in confusion and Michael laughed.

''Don't be silly. She was with Luke yesterday but told everyone she had the flu.''

''Oh... I wondered why she looked fine this morning.''

''Just go tell them you're feeling ill or something.'' he said. I shrug and grab Michaels hand intertwining our fingers.

''Lets just go.''

''Oooh WE GOT A BAD ASS RIGHT HERE!!.'' Michael yelled in the hallway causing people to look at us making me turn bright red I hid myself into Michael's chest and groaned.

''I hate you.'' I mumbled. He laughed softly wrapping his arms around me and kissing the top of my head.

''I hate you too.''  

''Why are you in such a rush?'' I asked as he practically pulled me through the air with how fast he walked out of the school and to his car.

''I dont know i'm excited.'' he smiled, a real genuine massive smile plastered onto his face.

''You really are weird''

My phone hadn't stop buzzing since we arrived at Ashtons. Considering the punk look this band goes for Ashtons family seems pretty much like mine he has a younger sister and a younger brother from what I could tell from the photographs.

I dumped myself on one of the brown worn out couches in the garage next to Ava.

''I thought you had the flu'' I said deciding to play with her a little

''I do.'' she says her voice bunged up... my expression relaxes a little and I actually feel bad for believing she faked her illness.

''Oh...''

''I can't believe you fell for that.'' she giggled her voice back to normal causing me to laugh.

''You honestly need to get into acting.''

''So who does what?'' I asked not familiar with the band at all, Sure Michael had told me a few bits but he never really spoke about it that often.

''Well. Luke Is the lead singer and does some occasional guitar , Calum Is on bass but is also talented at other stuff like the keyboard , Ashton Is on the drums and Michael does lead guitar. They all sing as well.'' she explains and I nod my head taking in the information.

'' Katie's going to be pissed you're not at practice , She probably thinks me and you have some secret cheer society or something'' Ava said It made me laugh more than it should of because Katie always was paranoid about the team. The boys looked over at me interrupted by my laughter.

''Sorry'' I mouthed and Michael chuckled to himself.

''He so likes you.'' Ava smiled

'I guess.'' I

''When are you guys going to go official.''

''Yesterday.'' 

''I know everyone was talking about it but I didn't realize it was actually a thing... Wow. '' .''- So tell me everything!'' she sqeauled, and I laughed crossing my legs on the couch and unraveling the details of our first date.

The boys lined up at their instruments and began playing a song called 'I've got this friend'.

''They're really good.'' I say nodding to the music

''I know.''

''But why are they called 500 years of winter? It's like always summer here?'' I laughed

''Who knows? It sounds better then 5 seconds of summer... That was another one they thought about'' Ava laughed.

Another day of school. I thought to myself and I tied up my converse, I grabbed an apple on the way out of the door, avoiding anything my mother tried to talk to me about. Again Michael insisted on carpooling with me even though my car was now out the garage. I walked up to the car and got into the passenger seat. I gave Michael a small smile and kiss on the cheek before doing up my seat belt.

''How do you just eat a apple every morning?'' Michael asked

'It's my breakfast'' I shrugged.

'Wouldn't you rather have a real breakfast?''

''Yes but...-''

''School don't start until 9. We have an hour.''

''Yeah bu-''

''What Is your first lesson?''

''PE.''

''So I'm sure as captain you can skip the lesson and tell them you slept in.''

''Not how it works Michael''

''I'm being serious Brooke.''

''Michael... I dont know.'' i bit my lip

''Come on I want to take my beautiful girlfriend to breakfast. Is that a crime?-'' he fluttered his eyelashes and pouted at me giving his best puppy dog expression. ''- Your grades won't suffer at all I promise'' he finished off.

I sighed giving in way to easily. ''Okay''

Half an hour later we were at the little diner in the town where I had ordered waffles with strawberries while Michael was eating bacon , french toast and sausages.

''See this is much more fun then school.'' He said in between bites, a smile on his face.

''True. But if my parents find out i'm dead... then you're dead.''

''Well I'm sure they won't.'' Michael shrugged leaning over and kissing me. ''You taste like strawberries'' he mumbled.

''Yeah well you taste of bacon.'' I said laughing. 

''Well... I'm glad you're not a vegan.''

After we finished eating. Michael drove us both to school looking at the time we had missed all of first period due to the food being delayed and second period would be starting any minute.

''See we're back on time''

''Apart from missing ALL of first period.'' I huffed.

''I'm sure it was worth it.'' he smirked. 

He unbuckled my seat belt and pulled me closer to him. I heard him unbuckle his own seat belt before he pulled me on top of his lap. I gave in and wrapped my arms around his shoulders before leaning closer and kissing him. Our tongues moving together as his fingers played at the edge of my shirt. I grabbed handfuls of his hair in my hands. He moaned as I  slid my own hands down his chest and he kissed away from my mouth down my chin before kissing down my neck. I could feel his teeth scrape against my neck and i leaned my head further back opening my neck up to him just then the bell rang.

He stopped and looked at me breathing hard. ''We'll be late for second period''.

''I can be a little late i guess.'' I said desperately he bit his lip and pulled me closer to him again.
