002. Saving Rick Flag's Ass
two ────────── saving rick flag's ass!
Elina Alman can remember for the longest time that she hated flying in planes—she wasn't sure why, probably pairing with her fear of heights. She can remember memories from her teenage years, when her parents would decide to take her and her brothers on spontaneous fun vacations. Elina can remember the way she'd compare tanlines with her eldest brother, hold her youngest brother closest to her as the plane took off—moreso for her own comfort than his. Now? Elina was gripping the belt around her waist with her head leaned back, staring up at the rattling roof of the aircraft. Sitting there reminiscing about what life used to be made her go even further back—to when life was simple, and then it wasn't. She can remember the way her mother wailed when they got the call from the oil rig company about how her dad had died in the explosion, his body would be unrecoverable, forever lost in the ocean. The thought of that brought upon yet another irrational fear. And it just so happens that both come into play for this mission. Fun!
"What does TDK stand for?" Javelin asks.
"What?"
"Your name—TDK, what does it mean?"
TDK shrugs. "Well, it stands for me. That's what the name is."
"Your name is letters?"
"All names are letters, dickhead." Boomer chimes in.
Elina huffs and crosses her arms, staring at Blackguard, who stared back, a little freaked out. She stifled a laugh as he jumped when Weasel sneezed—or hacked or something. Blackguard stared at it, a little disgusted. "Yo, is this a dog?" Blackguard questions, thumb pointed at the mangled creature.
"What?" Boomerang replies.
"Is—is this thing a dog?" He asks louder.
"A dog?"
"Yes."
Captain Boomerang leans forward. "What-what kind of dog do you think it is, mate?"
"I don't know—I'm not familiar with all the breeds?"
"I'm gonna go with Afghan hound." TDK says.
"What is an Afghan hound—"
"Oh my god, is it a werewolf?" Harley yells. "I've wanted to meet a werewolf forever!"
Elina laughs loudly, nodding. "Looks like one. Do you think he can change to be a human?"
Blackguard jumps up against his seatbelt, trying to unbuckle it. "YOU SAT ME NEXT TO A WEREWOLF? YO, LET ME OUT!" He screams, and they all watch as he squirms in his seat. Harley claps and squeals, both Elina and Boomer laugh—TDK watches as the blond struggles in his seat. Flag steps in, yelling.
"Ay, he is not a werewolf! Okay? He's a weasel. He's harmless. Well—he's not harmless, he's killed twenty seven children. But, you know, we got him to uh...he's agreed to this!" Rick claims, almost unsurely. Ironically, the fact that the thing was a weasel was more calming to Blackguard than the fact it could've been a werewolf. "Whatever the case may be, get into position to drop!" Rick demands over Weasel's odd vocal sounds. Elina reluctantly let go of all her previous thoughts and stood, tightening her belts chocked full of knives and the holsters underneath her arms with two firearms. Finally, she pulled the mask over her face. She sighed as the world got dark for a moment before she adjusted to the mask for the first time in a while, adjusting it to sit comfortably before switching it on—the screen illuminated against her eyes and became her second vision.
Following behind Harley, Elina watched as the ramp door to the plane opened, revealing the dark moonlit ocean, unfortunately accompanied by some nasty looking waves. Harley turned to look at Elina with a wicked smile. "Bombs away." Harley whispered before turning to face ahead of her again. Rick looked over his shoulder and gave his team a nod before stepping over to allow his team mates ut the door, Javelin went first—plummeting into the water. Harley and Elina made quick movements to follow, cutting through the air and falling into the cold water. Honestly, for a split second, Elina thought she would drown with how rough the water was. Despite not jumping that far, the waves swallowed her and pushed her body around like a ragdoll. It took her finding another person, whoever that may have been, to find the rest of the group.
Elina felt lucky for that mask—she'd kill in order to not feel the burning sensation of salt water in your eyes. Elina turned to the rest of the group, who had been watching her try and get out of the water. Harley gave her a rather sympathetic smile before a screaming Weasel came falling from the sky and crashed belly first into the water. The group of them let out hisses and grimaces, Boomer muttered a that's gotta hurt. Rick stood at the plane, looking down at them. "Did anyone check to see if Weasel could swim?" He yelled angrily. Elina looked from him back to Weasel, who made her feel a little bit better about her and her aquatic inconveniences.
Savant looked to the group before swimming down and retrieving a limp Weasel. Once he broke the surface of the water and swam to the shore, he made a call to state that Weasel was in fact dead. The rest of the squad had gone a little quiet, and Elina turned to Harley, who looked a little...unsure of how to feel. Elina's lips formed a tight line to stifle a laugh. Was it fucked up to laugh about that? Yes. Did Elina care about it? No. Rick jumped down from the plane and splashed beside Harley and Elina, ordering Savant to maintain his position over the coms. "Goddamnit." Rick muttered, shaking his head. The dude seemed all kinds of irritated—and they just got here.
Elina crawled up the shore beside Harley and ducked, looking over the ledge. A few feet over, Blackguard was making a lot of struggling noises as he swam up, before crashing at the edge between a stand and kneel. Elina rolled her eyes and watched as Harley unzipped her bag, pulling out a...a bazooka? She let out an evil laugh and presented it to Elina, who gave a small, impressed nod. With a small sigh, Elina looked back to Blackguard—just as he was lifting himself over the edge of standing fully, arms raised. "Hey, guys!" He screamed.
Elina placed a hand on the temple of her mask. "Jesus fucking Christ."
"Hey!"
"Get the fuck down you fuckin' idiot!" Boomer hissed, sliding further down to hide himself.
"You can come out now! It's me!" Blackguard yelled, waving.
"What the fuck is Blackguard doing?" Rick asked to Elina, who threw her hands up in a frustrated manner. As if she had any idea!
"I'm the one who contacted you!"
"Is this what was supposed to happen? What the fuck?" Javelin asks.
"Blackguard, get back into your position!"
Blackguard waved again. "I brought everybody. Look! They're right behind me. Woah!" He yelled as a dozen headlights clicked on. "Hey!"
"Waller, we're made." Rick informs.
"Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit." Elina scrambles, loading her gun to take him out. Just as she points it, Blackguard's face is mangled by a bullet from the other side. Following is rapid gunfire, all aimed at the squad. "Blackguard sold us out." Rick informs over the coms.
"We need to retreat!"
"Negative—this is tough group."
Harley cocks her head to the side in a nod before standing up, aiming her bazooka at the soldiers. "Waller, with all due respect we're in the middle of a—HARLEY, WAIT!" Rick yells, and she screams happily, launching grenades. An explosion booms right across from them and Harley pumps her fist victoriously. With a groan, Elina stands and thrusts her hands up, unsheathing daggers from her belt and launching them at the soldiers. She directs through multiple men at once, taking out eyes and jugular veins. Elina launches another two, her mind and hands working at light speed to take these guys out.
All around is rapid gunfire—some of which Elina can help out with. In a quick movement, Elina is drop two of her knives and duck in front of Rick Flag, thrusting a herd of bullets upwards before moving back to what she'd been doing. "What the fuck!" He screamed, cocking his gun and appearing beside her. "That could've killed me!" He yells over the bullets. "Yeah, no fucking shit, Sherlock!"
Elina follows behind Rick and Harley as they duck behind a rock. "TDK!" Rick yells. "TDK is The Detatchable Kid?" Harley questions, and Elina lets out a gasp. "That little freak? That's him? Oh my god." Elina yells, watching as his arms detatch from his body and soar past him. "That is so fucking weird." Elina comments as TDK's hands weakly slap the soldiers.
"What the fuck!" Harley says.
"I didn't pick the damn team!" Rick replies.
Mongal leaps into the air to take out a helicopter befor crashing to the ground, the blades of the helicopter taking out a few of the soldiers in a blood bath. "Boomer!" Harley yells before the helicopter is sliding the beach and slicing him up to his inevitable death of blood and bones. Elina lets out a horrified gasp and grabs onto Harley, who yells again. The beach becomes a scene of fire and blood as their teammates fall down one by one, screams echoing over their heads. Harley lept up and ran in a different direction despite Elina's screams for her to stay. Burning trees crash onto the rock they hid under—causing Rick and Harley to fall onto one another, covering their heads from the debris.
"We can't stay here!"
"Oh, really? I thought it would be a nice place to settle down!" Elina snaps.
"Get up—we're making a run for it!"
"You're going to get me killed!"
Rick hoists her up and grabs her arm. Despite his tight grip, Elina obliges and allows him to pull her into the woods. Her legs make quick work to follow his fast stride, his hand still on her arm. She makes the occasional look over her shoulder, the fires becoming smaller and smaller in her view. "We are so fucked!" Elina says, heaving for breath.
"Really? I hadn't noticed!"
