Chapter Twenty-Seven
Tommy sat on the steps of the Melana porch holding a box of cupcakes, he watched as the SUV pulled into the driveway and stopped out the front of the porch.
Vera and Tony both stepped out of the car, Vera noticed the cupcake box.
"A messenger dropped this off." Tommy rose up to his feet.
Vera and Tony stopped in front of Tommy as he opened the cupcake box.
"Oh, those are VZ's." Tony reached into the cupcake box.
Vera turned her attention to Tony as he picked up a cupcake.
"There Z's personal favourite." He took a bite from the chocolate vanilla swirl with heart shaped sprinkles stuck amongst the soft cupcake.
"What have I told you about eating food that's gifted?" Vera shook her head slightly.
"What? There from Z, aren't they?" Tony said with a mouthful of food.
Tommy shrugged as Vera moved her attention to him. "I don't know if there's a message. By the time I came out of my house, these were sitting on the porch."
"Bin them." She stepped up onto the porch, she reached into the pot plant hanging by the doorway. She turned her attention to the males "There wasn't a note?"
Tommy shook his head.
Tony savoured the last bite of his cupcake as he looked at Vera and Tommy.
"Zasha's at work, right?" Vera placed her hand on the door handle.
The males shrugged.
"She left this morning, so probably." Tony mentioned.
Vera switched her gaze to Tommy, he felt like he understood what Vera was saying.
"V. They couldn't have." Tommy started.
"Tony's popped in. They'd know." Vera remarked.
Tommy looked at Tony before looking at Vera "How? She's just a bakery owner."
"That puts up with me." Vera breathed.
"Where would you look?" Tommy asked.
"Bakery." Tony answered the question.
Vera turned her attention to Tony "Get in the car." She hurried her words.
Tommy dropped the cupcake box on the ground as the two males and Vera rushed into the SUV.

Vera rushed out of the car, she rushed to the bakery doors. She pushed open the doors as she rushed inside.
"Z?" She called out as she walked behind the counter "Z?" She peered in the back of the bakery before retuning behind the counter.
Vera's heart raced as she struggled to find her girlfriend in the bakery.
A bike messenger barely had the chance to step inside the bakery when Tommy pushed them up against the glass windows.
Vera didn't stop Tommy as she and Tony watched.
"Melana family?" The bike messenger feared for their life.
Vera nodded.
"I have a message."
Tommy loosened his grip on the messenger, the messenger adjusted their shirt before finally speaking.
"I've been told to pass on, she wears the Melana ring and waits for her bride as the clock strikes boom."
Vera stepped from behind the counter, she stopped in front of the messenger "Did he say where she was?"
The messenger shook their head.
"Tommy, apologise. Tony, car. Now." Vera pulled open the bakery door.
"Sorry." Tommy's apology felt forced as he apologised to the bike messenger before shoving the messenger out of the bakery.
Tony followed behind.
