CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
Tony sat with his head low in the driver's seat of the car, he felt like he had lost another beloved family member. He felt like his world had just shattered all over again, he realised he was going to be lost on how he was going to pick himself up especially without Vera helping him along the way.
Tommy continuously wiped his tears from his face, he kept his words hushed as Zephan spoke with him while police officers closed off the warehouse.
Tommy nodded his head before slowly making his way back to the SUV.
Tony felt like he was in a daze, he wasn't paying attention to Tommy as Tommy opened the passengers door.
"Zephan wants us to tell Zasha before someone else does." Tommy's voice was filled with pain.
Tony lifted his head; Tommy's words had floated in one ear and out the other ear.
The two of them noticed the media starting to swarm the crime scene trying to catch a glimpse of the crime of the year.
Tony looked at Tommy "We need to tell Zasha." He felt numb as he spoke.
Tommy nodded; he didn't bother telling Tony that he had already said that.
They were both processing their pain differently.
Tommy hoisted himself into the passenger seat, he hesitated as he closed the passenger door. He felt like they needed to wait for Vera, the car just wasn't the same without her in the back seat.
The two of them watched as Vera's body bag was pushed out of the warehouse.
The two males couldn't hold back their tears as they grieved for their loved one.
Tony stopped the car next to the side gate of the Baker house. He looked at the wooden fence gate before taking off his seat belt.
Tommy looked at Tony "She needs to know."
The two of them silently got out of the car, Tony pushed open the latch of the fence before stepping through the gate and Tommy followed behind him.
Tony noticed Viola standing by the washing line hanging out the family laundry, she shifted her attention from the washing line and looked at the two males.
Viola had seen Tony at her house before, it didn't surprise her but seeing Tommy did, she had only meet Tommy once but neither had said a word to each other.
Viola noticed the looks on the males faces; she quickly pegged the shirt in her hands before stepping over to the males. "Is everything okay?" She curiously asked.
Tony took a deep breath to try to calm himself down "Is Zasha still here?"
Viola didn't judge Tony for not answering her question "Zasha, sweetheart!" She called out for her daughter.
Tony and Tommy watched as Zasha peered her head out of the back door of the home, she didn't understand why the males were at her parents' house as she stepped out towards them.
She didn't say anything as she noticed tears roll down Tony's face, she could see Tommy was starting to struggle to find his words.
Zasha's lower lip trembled; she shook her head.
The two males nodded as their tears fall.
Zasha crumbled to the ground of the driveway, Tommy and Tony knelt down to her and pulled her into their arms.
The three of them cried into each other's arms.
Viola placed her hand over her mouth as she started to sense what she was trying to understand. She knelt down by her daughter's side; Tony pulled Viola into his arms.
The four of them mourned Vera in the middle of the Baker's driveway.
