***Mark's POV***
"Not happening!" I shake my head adamantly. If he thinks for five seconds he is planning MY wedding, this kid has a whole world of disappointment coming. I'm not floating down the aisle to Arianna Grande or BTS. That is not exactly how I envisioned my big day.
"You're being a bridezilla!" Gavin glares at me while Alex chuckles into his fiancé's back.
"I'm a fucking groom, Gavin. That is part of the problem." I turn to Seb for any sort of support. It's my day, my wedding. I'm not a damn bride.
"Sure aren't acting like a man when you're being so bitchy over something so small." Gavin pokes his tongue out at me. I flinch in my seat.
Heavenly Father, I'm about to commit murder. Forgive me.
"Alex, restrain your man." Seb wraps his arms around my waist. I push against the very defined muscles to get free.
"Gavin, baby, you can't get your way all of the time. We have discussed this." Alex practically coos as he chastises our little nurse angel.
"Daddy, I just want to make Mark's day special." Gavin dramatically hiccups in between his fake sobs.
And, there THAT is.
Fucking drama queen!
"Cut the shit, Lea Michele. This isn't an audition and you aren't up for any part." I snarl my words out. I'm so sick of this brat constantly crying to make us feel bad for him. I cross my arms while shaking my head once again.
"Can't we compromise?" Mak looks over at me with a glimmer of hope in his eyes. Mak is always the pacifist. He just wants everyone to get along.
"Why should I compromise? It's my day. I'm only doing this once." I am fed up with all of this arbitration. I will have my day exactly as I want it. That is the end of the story.
"Baby, it is definitely your day. It should be perfect just like you. I do think you could use a few hands to help you plan. I'm busy with all of these contracts. I have to do twice as many local bookings in order to make the same money that an international contract would bring. I can't be everywhere all at once." Sebastian reminds me of his sacrifices for me without realizing that I already feel awful about the way he has made compromises for me.
I close my eyes slowly. I don't mind taking a few suggestions. I just don't want glitter, rainbows and the village people at my wedding. I want to have a small, intimate affair that is classy.
"Mak can help. I'm not being unreasonable." I grumble under my breath. I feel like I lost the war before my feet even hit the ground.
"And I don't mind helping." Mak smiles at me. I word a thank you to my dear friend. "But, with the baby, I have less free time. Gavin could help. I mean, I can keep him reigned in. Right Gavin?" Mak gives Gav a look that says choose your words carefully. It's always comical watching these two try to control one another. God knows that they both can be extra.
Gavin clears his throat. I watch as he straightens his back to get into his serious business persona. I guess he could help. If nothing else, he is a form of entertainment.
"I accept your offer to help. I promise to be on my very best behavior. All of my choices will be run through both grooms qualifications. That is, if it it pleases the bride. I mean groom." Gavin giggles when I throw a pillow at his cherub face. I didn't offer him to help, get that straight real quick. The conniving shithead insisted.
"Fine. I swear to God, Gavin if you suggest one rainbow flag, bag of glitter or a pink cake, well Alex will be a widower before he walks down the aisle." Reluctantly, I accept Gavin's help. I already know that I have made a terrible decision. Regret is only one sparkly bow away.
"Well, now that it's settled can we please move on to my nuptials?" Alex looks at me as if I turned this all around to make me the center of attention. No go, bro. That was all your future husband. I'm not in any rush to get married. It's just a piece of paper. Albeit it is a piece of paper that I desperately want. The fact is, I already have Seb's heart so I can wait on the government's approval.
"Yes, back to MY huge day." Gavin perks up, smiling as if he being crowned Miss America. I guess for him this is a huge day considering he has worked consistently towards Alex shackling him down.
"Whatever my baby wants, he will get." Alex places a kiss on Gavin's hand causing a mock gag to come from my lips. They are too sweet for even me. No one fawns over their partners the way Grey and Alex do. It would be impossible to keep up with their constant doting.
"Thanks, Daddy. Now, we all know that I am a bit on the dramatic side." Gavin pauses for effect. If a reaction is what he wants than who am I to disappoint Sally Field Jr.
"Bullshit." I cough into my hand while throwing a wry grin towards Alex. Gavin's future husband chuckles before placing his finger over his lips. If he thinks I am going to refrain from causing him unneeded anxiety, Alex has lost his marbles.
"Shut up, Uncle Mark. As I was saying, I can be a handful. Why should my wedding be anything less than a reflection of my true self? I want to live out loud, love louder and have our day plastered across the front page of People Magazine." Gavin rubs his hands together as if he is about to execute the perfect diabolical plan. I have faith that he will.
"Baby boy, I think that is a tall glass to fill." Alex tries to reign Gavin in. Fat chance. That kid is a loose cannon. We all know that.
"Good thing I know someone who would do anything to make all of my dreams come true." Gavin winks at Alex. Kip chuckles when Mario starts laughing beside him.
"Oh, yes. I do remember someone saying what my baby wants, he will get." Grey laughs loudly when a pillow comes flying at him followed by the salute of Alex's middle finger.
"Precisely. We are going to need a horse drawn carriage, ballerinas and Elton John. Write that down Daddy. I don't want an imitator. Bring me Elton." Gavin begins to spew off so many outlandish requests that we simply leave him to his fantasy as we all get up and start moving around my house.
"That kid." Mario takes a second to stare at Gavin. Gav is so deeply into his own world that he fails to realize we have all relocated. Alex looks no less amused than the rest of us as he grabs a beer from the refrigerator.
"If you think the planning is bad, imagine the wedding." Sebastian punches Alex's arm.
"Open bar." Alex lifts his beer into the air. That is a promise I know he can keep. Dear God, the angels will need a day of rest after this show.
"In other news." Grey leads off the start of his conversation.
"What's up boss?" I turn to Grey, giving him my full attention. I haven't got the slightest clue what he could be announcing. I just want a reprieve from the Gavin hour.
"We have been offered a sweet deal that I honestly don't want to resist. It will take extra hands and it involves Sebastian." Grey looks to my man for confirmation that Sebastian is paying attention. I am already weary.
Didn't my future husband just say that his plate is overflowing?
I sigh quietly knowing that whatever it is that Grey wants, Sebastian will overextend himself to provide. Seb feels indebted to my best friends for the last couple of years. I get it. I, too, feel like they have an eternal get out of jail free card. Without their help and support, I would not be planning a ceremony that will tie me to Sebastian for eternity.
"Lay it on me. You know I will do my best to help out." Seb sits down beside me, pulling me into his lap. I accept my new seating arrangement, occupying myself with plundering my fingers into Seb's newly established curls. I must say, I love that he is letting his hair grow out. I have plenty of places to burrow my fingers into his locks.
"Pay attention Mark. This is as much my company as it is yours. This will give Sebastian and you a healthy income. That boils down to less jobs that take up your sweet man's time. He will be available to have more input in your wedding." Grey stares at me with those business eyes that make me focus my attention on him. I still play with Seb's hair because I can. Frankly, I would rather be playing with all of my hot fiancé.
"I'm here." I roll my hand out in front of me. This is taking too long. I just want to hear what the hell is going on. I will agree to nearly anything to get this show on the road.
"People magazine." Grey takes a breath. After I see Gav stop his monologue to rush over, I can see why Grey took a pause. Gavin burrows into Alex's lap with his attention trained on my boss. "People has requested that we take up a ten page spread on Manhattan's power couples. This will include all four of our couples. They want us to go into the intricate details of running a Fortune 500 company, maintaining friendships, lifestyles, careers and most importantly any recent news that would draw in readers. The way I see it, we can include the two upcoming nuptials. I will be highlighting Dad and Mom as well. Without my parents, we wouldn't be in the position that we are in today. Cara will have a place as well considering she will be one of the heirs to our dynasty. Any future children can be discussed. It's practically freelance. It's completely up to you but, the payoff is explosive. We would be raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars once the magazine publishes the issue." Grey smiles at each of us knowing that he has set a good foundation for all of us to agree. He had me at more time with Sebastian. I'm in.
"Sign us up." Gavin's enthusiasm is neither shocking nor disappointing. That kid was made for the spotlight. At any rate, Gavin will take the heat off of Kip and Mario who prefer to be less than public with their relationship.
Kip and Mario are an anomaly amongst our group. While Alex and Gavin are as open as a midnight convenience store, Grey and Mak are almost as loud with their relationship. Sebastian and I find ourselves extremely comfortable among friends and family. However, in certain company we keep it low maintenance. Kip and Mario are reserved with anyone outside of our circle. Even their families aren't quite aware of how the dynamics of how their relationship manifests.
At the end of the conversation we all agree to the project. Mak seems excited to finally announce the birth of their daughter to the public eye. Honestly, Martin has paid off way too many paparazzi to keep our bundle of joy off of the front page news. It was a given that at some point Cara would make her world debut. Now is as good as time as any.
Sebastian smiles at me. I have no doubt the money is as big a part of his agreeableness as the ability to use the publicity to his advantage. We have spoken in great detail about finally announcing our official engagement. I was not exactly keen on rushing because there is no way my family won't find out. I just don't want another run in with the bigotry. My sister has promised to run interference at every angle. Thank God for Macy.
I honestly have no idea why Seb worries so much about our finances. We are more than well off. I get that the treatments took a huge toll on our bank accounts. However, I also have a card in my back pocket. I am a trust fund baby. That is something I neither discuss nor have offered to my love.
Seb would adamantly refuse my parent's money. I will not. The least they can do is support us financially. Aside from that, the money is not theirs to control or release. Upon my marriage, half of my grandparents wealth becomes my own. That money will be more than enough for both of us to never work a day again. Not that either of us would forego work. We both love the hustle and bustle of being businessman in New York.
It's nice to know that I can bring as much financially to our marriage. Sebastian can rest assured that his cancer treatments did not put any financial restraints on our relationship. That is, when I finally tell him. If, I tell him.
