Chapter 3
I'd love to tell you that things were going absolutely normal in my "Imperfect but worth living" life- but, surely, my life had changed.
It was another Sunday morning when I decided to take a stroll through my neighborhood to get some air. I wanted the soft breeze to hit my face and slap some ideas across my brain. I was still wondering if I was correct calling me a "Writer", because it was so long since I had actually written something. I wasn't getting any ideas. I had started writing a novel and now, I was struck. It's funny how excited we are when something begins and then, we get equally bored when things are not working out.
'Good morning, Anirudh.' Kailash- a friend of mine- stopped as he saw me. 'How are you, buddy?'
'Extremely hot.' I joked.
'You wish.' And we laughed on that dumb joke.
'How's school, Kailash.' I asked him. 'You took Humanities, right?'
'Yeah,' he said. 'School is going pretty smoothly and Arts is not bad. I like all this stuff.'
'Cool.' I said and smiled at him.
'Though, it's really obvious, you tell me how's school going?'
'Obvious, huh?' I gurgled. 'It's going good obviously.'
'And what about your book,' he said, 'completed it yet?'
'Writing a book is tough, man,' I said. 'I mean...it-it's not easy.'
'I can understand.' he said and backed off. 'Alright, so I'll leave. See you soon.'
'Yeah, bye.'
I started walking again but stopped as soon as I found an empty bench. I went towards it and took out the notepad and pencil from my pocket.
'Time for character description.' I said to myself and started noting down everything that I had observed about Kailash. His height, built, the way he spoke, my comfort level around him, the weather- okay, not the weather. So now I had a rough character sketch of Kailash Singh ready in front of me.
'Buddy,' I said again, after I had finished reading what I just wrote, 'you're going to become a minor character in my book very soon...only if I decide to write.'
'I thought that writers always wanted to write.' Someone said and I turned back. Shefali- one of my old friends- was standing behind me. 'Good morning, writer.'
'Good morning, Shefali.' I said and got up. Well, before I could have asked how she was and how her studies were going on, she hugged me. It's not that I didn't like it; it was just that I was afraid that I might blush in front of her. Not so manly, eh?
'How have you been, Annu?' She said again, 'I mean, we are in the same school but now you don't even talk. That's rude.'
'You know how I am.' I said, 'I mean, we were so close in ninth and tenth standard. You know that I'm shy--'
'You're so illogical.' Shefali said and shook her head in dismay. 'Anyway, now if you decide to break contact, I'll break your teeth.'
'Sounds like a fair deal.' I said and she smiled at me.
'Seems like you've been working on your sense of humor.' She said and I just lifted up my shoulders.
'I figured out that I didn't want to be a dark and sad writer, so I just thought it'd be good be funny.'
'Point, my lord.' She said and bowed in front of me. 'Where are you going- your house?'
'No, I'm just wandering around.' I told her and she took my hand.
'Accompany me to my home, then.' She ordered and I saluted her.
'Sure thing, ma'am,' I said and we started walking (She was holding my hand). 'Um, so you still want to be a lawyer?'
'Yup, some things never change.'
'You bet.'
We had almost reached her house after maybe, twenty minutes. On our way, we talked about things only the closest friends discuss and she was so comfortable talking to me after a gap of almost five months. It felt good to see that I was still important to some of the best people.
'Most of the times I'm not really comfortable telling people about my breakup.' She said and I just patted her shoulders. 'But today, I'm feeling so good after telling you each and every thing about that guy. He tore me up, Annu, and today it's almost like you've fixed me in some minutes.'
'Hey,' I said and grabbed both her hands. 'I'm here. Whenever you need me, I'm just a phone call away or you can just shout out for the hottest guy in Delhi and I'll be there.'
'Shut up,' she started laughing and slapped my hands. 'I don't know about the hottest, but you definitely are the cutest.'
'Don't worry, a few weeks in gym and I'll be the hottest, too.'
I said that to make her laugh, but instead a tear fell out of her eye.
'Hey,' I said and held her by her shoulders, 'I thought you were strong. Don't prove me wrong, please.'
'I'm tired of playing the strong girl,' she wept, 'I can't be the strong girl that I want to be. I can just be the same, helpless and broken girl that everyone likes to see.'
'Guess what? This is your life and you can be anything that you want to be. You are not breathing for others. You're not waking up every day for them. If they are not the ones you're living for then why does their opinion matter?'
She just looked down and I wiped her tears.
'I might not be the hottest guy in Delhi, but I can be a good friend.' I winked at her and she came forward and hugged me. 'Everything's going to get better. That ass didn't deserve you and you'll realize this when some good man will come to your life and tell what's your worth in his eyes.'
'Like you?' She still said weeping.
'Oh, you definitely don't want a stupid and clumsy guy like me.' I joked and she smiled at me.
'I guess I need a little clumsiness in me.' She said as her eyes sparkled due to the sunlight and tears. Generally, I would have complained about the weather of New Delhi on a summer morning, but I realized that the weather was going to be beautiful for a long-long time.
While I was daydreaming, Shefali came forward and pecked on my cheek.
'Wow,' I said, 'you sure you want my stupidity to amuse you?'
'Positive.'
'Mind you- I'm a pure romantic guy.' I said. 'I might give you the cheesiest dialogues, like a bollywood star. I hope you're ready for it.'
'As long as you promise to be the man of my dreams, I won't mind that stuff.'
I knew I was blushing and so, I looked down.
'Besides,' she said and held my collar, 'my boyfriend's going to be the hottest guy in Delhi only after a few weeks in gym.'
'So, you really want me to hit the gym, now?' I asked and she started laughing. 'Come here.'
She came closer to me and our lips touched. Only a few moments ago, I was a nobody and now, the most beautiful girl of St Mark's was kissing me.
'Go write a new love story.' She said and I turned towards the empty bench. Things had changed now, and of course, I had to write a new love story.
And yes, I was also making sure that nobody saw us kissing.

Hi, this is the...I don't know, this is another Wattpad author and this is another Author's note.
I know you must be wondering what just happened and what will happen to Tripty. I suggest you to just sit back and relax till I upload the next chapter. And please, feel happy for our hero because Shefali is an amazing girl- she is the best.
Of course, the others who are wondering about the kiss- don't worry, it's normal to get kissed by your friends on the streets of New Delhi- yeah, but make sure that you and your friends are of the opposite gender- but anyway, it's your choice ;)
Yeah, so, stick around for better stuff in the future
Adios Wattpaders
