thirteen; no power
u at ur place?
yeah?
do you have power?
Mitch furrowed his brows at the question, not even needing to look up from his phone to note that the lights were still on.
yeah?
shit
well mine went out a couple hours ago
figured it was a fluke but i guess not
im sorry
you gonna make it?
as long as it doesn't get too cold tonight i'll be okay
For some reason, that last text didn't sit right with Mitch. Yeah, the power going out wasn't uncommon in their city, especially in the winter. And yeah, Scott would probably be fine, but Mitch knew he would feel guilty if he didn't at least try to help him. And on that thought, he sent out a first text.
do you wanna come over?
Okay, maybe that wasn't clear enough.
i meant like spend the night?
Okay, maybe that was too forward.
i just don't want you to be stuck at your place
i'm willing to help you out
And he definitely needed to stop rambling.
But before he knew it, Scott was texting him back.
are u sure?
No, Mitch really wasn't. Their relationship was too new for Mitch to feel confident enough and it seemed to be too big of a step and—
yeah
Mitch sucked in a huge breath once he realized he pressed send and immediately put his face in his hands.
thank you sweetheart
i'll be over in an hour?
sounds good x
Mitch turned off his phone then threw it onto the couch next to himself. He was still struggling to wrap his mind around what he just agreed to, much less actually getting himself mentally prepared for the night. He instantly began worrying when he realized he only had an hour to do all of this. And even worse, he thought as he stood up from the couch, he had to clean up his apartment too.

"You're a lifesaver," Scott spoke the moment the front door opened. Mitch may not have known the blonde for long, but he could tell that Scott was being very sincere.
"I know," Mitch smirked, inviting him in by opening up his arms. Scott quickly took him up on the offer and wrapped the boy up in his own arms.
"Scott!" Mitch immediately exclaimed. "You're freezing!"
"Yeah, the power went out. That's why I'm here." Mitch let go of him and raised an eyebrow.
"Okay, smartass. I was gonna offer you some wine and cuddles but I'm starting to rethink that."
"No," the blonde instantly whined, pulling Mitch back towards him. "But seriously, thank you for letting me come over."
"Its no problem. I'd probably be trying to see you or trying to go on another date soon anyway."
"Wait, is this a date?" Scott asked, the teasing in his voice overshadowing the actual question itself.
"Shut up."

Hours later, Scott and Mitch found themselves sprawled out on Mitch's couch, half paying attention to the movie playing in the background. Well, Scott was half paying attention, while Mitch was attempting to fight off sleep. The other part of Scott's attention was focused on Mitch, watching fondly as his eyes would slip close then open once again moments later.
After finally getting Mitch awake and off the couch, Scott ushered him down the hallway and to his room. The concept of sleeping in the same bed was something scary to Mitch, but luckily Scott recognized it and respected it. Mitch ended up losing the argument about who got the bed and couch, something that Mitch felt a bit guilty for as well. And the guilt continued to eat him up as Scott kissed his forehead and wished him goodnight. He only spoke up about it when Scott had his back turned and was about to leave the room.
"Wait," Mitch said. Scott slowly turned back around. "Come here."
"You sure?" Mitch nodded his head quickly, which was all it took for Scott to come back to the bed, then eventually lay down on the empty side of it. Mitch quickly pushed himself against Scott, embracing the warmth he was once again giving off. Scott couldn't help but press his lips to the back of Mitch's neck, and Mitch could practically feel the small smile still playing on his lips.
"Goodnight, Mitchy."
"Night, Scotty."
