After three years of dating, Kevin and Tara got engaged! And a year later, they got married! Tara has a four year old son, Hayden, from a previous relationship. Kevin has been around since Hayden was three months old and Hayden calls him Daddy. Hayden's biological dad has never been in the picture and is in jail for life.

Tara is making dinner while Hayden plays with his blocks on the floor in the living room. Kevin is coming home from the PTX tour. Tara and Kevin wanted to surprise Hayden by not telling him that Kevin was coming home today. Kevin opens the door and Hayden runs towards him.

"Daddy!" Hayden says as he hugs Kevin tight. "Hey, bud!" Kevin says hugging Hayden and picks him up. Kevin kisses Hayden's cheek and tickles him.

"Aw! Did we surprise you?" Tara asks and Hayden nods. "Look Hay, the fans either made or bought you all this stuff! Ain't it cool?" Kevin says as he hugs Hayden.

"Yeah! It is so cool, Daddy! Thank you!" Hayden says. "You're welcome, buddy. I am so glad I am home with you and Mommy!" Kevin says and Hayden kisses Kevin's cheek.

"Dinner is almost done, Kev. Welcome home!" Tara says as she kisses and hugs Kevin. "I missed you a lot." Kevin says to Tara. "Aw, I missed you too! Hayden missed you a ton." Tara says as she finishes cooking the spaghetti.

Hayden walks in the kitchen with his sippy cup. "Daddy! Can I have some apple juice?" Hayden asks. "What do you say, Hayden?" Tara says as she corrects Hayden. "Please!" Hayden says.

"Of course you can, little man!" Kevin says with a big smile, pouring the juice into the sippy cup. "Thank you!" Hayden says with a smile.

Kevin puts the plates of spaghetti down, as he, Tara and Hayden sit down. Tara, Kevin and Hayden pray before dinner, then begin to eat.

"Hayden, tell Daddy what I told you this morning." Tara says as she eats a bite of spaghetti. "My name is going to be Hayden John Olusola!" Hayden says proudly. Kevin looks at Tara in shock.

"I'll tell you more after we put Hayden to bed." Tara says whispering into Kevin's ear and he nods. "Is it? Who's last name is that?" Kevin asks and Hayden points to Kevin. "Yours Daddy!" Hayden says. Kevin and Tara smile at Hayden.

After dinner and playing for a few hours, it's time for bed. Hayden begins to fall asleep on the couch. Kevin rubs Hayden's back.

"Hey sleepy head, It's time for bed. Mommy washed your blankeys for you." Kevin says as he picks up Hayden.

"Daddy? Are you leaving tomorrow?" Hayden asks sadly. "No buddy, not for a while." Kevin says opening Hayden's bedroom door, and sees Tara holding Hayden's stuffed elephant.

"Goodnight buddy, see you in the morning." Kevin says kissing Hayden's forehead. "Goodnight baby boy, if you need anything wake me or Daddy up, okay?" Tara says as she tucks Hayden in and kisses his cheek.

"Otay." Hayden says as he falls asleep. Tara quietly shuts the door, and walks downstairs with Kevin. "What did you mean at dinner, babe? About Hayden having my last name?" Kevin asks as he lets Tara sit next to him on the couch.

"Well, I think it is the perfect time for Hayden to be officially yours. His biological dad, Jason, called me a few weeks ago from jail and he said he would sign his rights away. Jason will never come out of jail, and he feels not letting you be Hayden's dad would be the wrong thing to do." Tara says as she rubs Kevin's leg.

"Wow. That's a lot to take in. He's acting pretty nice about doing that. He hasn't with his other kids." Kevin says.

"Well, he knows you have been in Hayden's life since he was a tiny baby. You helped me with the late night feedings, doctor appointments, baths, diaper changes, and birthdays. Let's say he does somehow get out, which probably won't happen, Hayden won't call him daddy. Hayden will be terrified. He only knows you, Kevin." Tara says as she kisses Kevin. Kevin nods and kisses Tara

"Jason knows you will raise him well, you already are. And he knows you will take Hayden to see his him if Hayden ever decides to meet him one day. Plus, he knows you are providing the best life for Hayden. Jason is happy I found somebody to accept both Hayden and I, and you have raised Hayden like he is your own. Jason has signed his rights away with the other kids he has too, I talked to the other kid's mom before you came home." Tara says.

Kevin is shocked about what Tara is saying. In the past, Jason said he will never sign his rights away and he wants all his kids to have his last name. Kevin wonders, why the change in heart?

"What made him change his mind though? He was adamant." Kevin says with concern.

"Because he finally is sober and realizes what he was doing was wrong. He knows he ruined his opportunity to raise Hayden and his four other children. He doesn't want to take that opportunity from you." Tara says as she hands Kevin the paper work.

The first paper is Jason signing his rights away. The second paper is adoption papers, with Tara's information filled out and not Kevin's. Kevin looks at Tara and begins to cry. They hug each other tightly.

"It will take about five to six months, but Hayden will have your last name by or before your birthday." Tara says with a big smile.

"Are you okay with this?" Kevin asks and Tara nods happily. "I have been wanting to do this since before we gotten engaged. Hayden really wants your last name, its so cute." Tara says kissing Kevin. Kevin begins to fill out the paperwork out and Tara puts it in the envelope.

"I'll mail that tomorrow and get it started. I know you are leary about giving Hayden hugs and kisses still because you are technically his stepdad, but you can give him tons of hugs and kisses. You are his father since I first brought you to see him after our first date. Hayden loves it when you hug him and gets upset when you don't." Tara says sternly.

"I feel so bad about not giving him hugs sometimes. I didn't want it to look weird." Kevin says rubbing Tara's leg. "It isn't weird babe, Hayden only knows you and me as his parents." Tara says.

Tara and Kevin hug again. "This is so exciting, I can't wait to tell my parents!" Kevin says and Tara nods.

Kevin and Tara chit chat some more, and Hayden comes down the steps crying. "What's wrong, sweety?" Tara says as she picks up Hayden. "I had a scary scary dream!" Hayden says with a sniffle. "Aw, it's okay Hayden. I am here and Mommy is here." Kevin says.

"Let's head back upstairs. Hayden, would you like to lay down with Daddy and I?" Tara asks and Hayden nods. Kevin, Hayden and Tara head upstairs. Kevin changes his clothes and lays next to Hayden in bed.

"Daddy?" Hayden says. "Yes, little man?" Kevin asks. "Did you sign the big paper to become my Daddy?" Hayden asks. Kevin smiles and nods. "I did, are you happy about that?" Kevin asks and Hayden nods.

"Good. I love being your Daddy bud, and I can't wait to make it official." Kevin says as he softly kisses Hayden's forehead. Tara joins Kevin and Hayden in bed, and they all fall asleep together.

Four months later, Kevin was officially the father of Hayden John Olusola :)
