Today is Scarlett's eighth birthday!

Today, Jake and Alex are just going to have a small little birthday party at home with the kids and their pets!

Next weekend, Scarlett is going to invite a bunch of her best friends over to have a eighth birthday slumber party! Scarlett can't wait to finally have some friends over and to have a night full of pizza, sweet treats and presents!

Jake and Alex wanted this weekend to be full of family time, since they haven't gotten a lot of that lately with Alex working and the four older kiddos - Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery going back into school and not having lots of virtual school right now.

Right now, Jake, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery, Ruby, Kai, Taytum and Lucky the dog are all outside enjoying the California sunshine while Swifty, Kacey, Gaga and Underwood are all inside enjoying some cat nip!

Meanwhile, Alex is driving fifty minutes to the pound to pick up a special dog as a birthday present for Scarlett's eighth birthday!

One of Scarlett's best friends Michaely recently adopted a dog from the pound!

After Michaely told Scarlett about adopting her dog from the pound, Scarlett went on the pound website and instantly fell in love with this four year Border Collie named Dorothy.

Dorothy's owners had died a few months back and nobody has wanted to adopt her due to having stomach issues and needing a special diet.

Scarlett told both Jake and Alex about Dorothy and asked if they could adopt her for her eighth birthday.

Jake and Alex didn't want to say yes or no to Scarlett because they didn't want Scarlett to get super excited about getting Dorothy and then get disappointed if it didn't happen.

Jake and Alex bought Scarlett about ten birthday gifts for her to open up on her birthday today! Scarlett really appreciate and loves them of course but she really wanted to see Dorothy with a big bow on her instead.

Alex has just picked up Dorothy from the pound and he picked up a few things for her like her special dog food, some toys, her favorite blanket and a brand new dog bed!

As Alex drives back home with Dorothy by his side, Kai and Taytum are happily sitting on Jake's lap, Ruby, Scarlett and Aurora are drawing with chalk and Levi and Avery are jumping on the Kirk's brand new trampoline they Jake and Alex bought all of the kids for Christmas!

*Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery, Ruby, Kai and Taytum's outfits*

"Da da! Da da!" Ruby says as she walks over to Jake and she is about to put a piece of chalk in her mouth.

"Hi, Ruby girl! Hi, baby! And no no! Don't put the chalk in your mouth! That's yucky!" Jake says to Ruby making her giggle and smile.

Aurora writes "Happy Birthday" with the chalk making Scarlett smile.

"Happy birthday, sissy!" Aurora says as she hugs Scarlett tightly and Scarlett smiles.

"Thank you, Aurora!" Scarlett says to Aurora happily.

"Ba ba ba ba!" Ruby says with a big grin at her big sister.

"Thank you, Ruby!" Scarlett says as she hugs and kisses Ruby.

Kai and Taytum both coo at Scarlett making her giggle and smile.

"Aw! Kai and Taytum are saying happy birthday to you, Scarlett!" Jake says with a smile.

"Thank you, Kai and Taytum!" Scarlett says to her baby brother and baby sister.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SISSY!" Avery and Levi both say in unison to Scarlett as they continue to jump around on the trampoline.

"Thank you, Avery and Levi!" Scarlett says happily to her little brothers!

Avery and Levi then get off of the trampoline and they begin to chase Lucky around the yard!

Lucky begins to playfully chase Avery and Levi around the yard, making both boys giggle and smile.

"Woof! Woof! Woof! Woof!" Lucky says loudly, making Jake, Ruby, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery all giggle and smile at her.

"Lucky, you are such a good girl!" Jake says happily to Lucky, making her wag her tail.

Kai and Taytum then begin go both coo, making Jake, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby all smile at both of them.

"Lucky is saying happy birthday to you Scarlett!" Avery says as he gets excited happily.

"Yeah, she is!" Jake says happily to Scarlett.

"And Swifty, Kacey, Underwood and Gaga all said happy birthday too!" Levi says to Scarlett making Scarlett smile.

Jake, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery, Ruby, Kai, Taytum and Lucky all hang out outside!

Twenty five minutes later, Alex and Dorothy are now happily home!

Alex helps get Dorothy settled into her brand new house and he also introduces Dorothy to the four Kirk cats - Swifty, Kacey, Underwood and Gaga!

Swifty, Kacey, Underwood and Gaga all happily sniff Dorothy and Dorothy licks them all, making Alex smile.

"Good girl! Good girl! These are your cat siblings Swifty, Kacey, Gaga and Underwood! Kitties, this is your new sister, Dorothy!" Alex says to Dorothy, Swifty, Gaga, Underwood and Kacey!

Alex then texts Jake to let Jake know that he and Dorothy were home and to bring all of the kids and Lucky inside!

"Hey guys! Let's go inside! Papa is home!" Jake says with a big smile at Taytum, Kai, Ruby, Avery, Levi,  Aurora, Scarlett and Lucky!

"Yay! Papa! Papa!" Ruby says as she gets very excited.

Kai and Taytum both coo happily out loud, knowing their Papa is home!

"Woof! Woof!" Lucky says as she twirls around and wags her tail, making Jake smile.

Jake holds both Kai and Taytum in his arms while Aurora opens the sliding glass door so all of them can go inside!

"Scarlett, close your eyes, okay? There is a birthday present inside with Papa!" Jake says with a big smile at Scarlett, hoping Scarlett doesn't realize the surprise is actually Dorothy.

"Okay, Daddy!" Scarlett says with a big cheeky smile even though she has no idea why she has to keep her eyes covered.

Kai, Jake, Taytum, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery, Ruby and Lucky all walk into the house together!

Alex puts his finger against his mouth so Aurora, Levi and Avery won't ruin the surprise for Scarlett!

"Woahhh!" Ruby says as she giggles and smiles at Alex.

Kai and Taytum both coo at Alex making Alex smile at the both of them.

"Are you ready to see what the surprise is, Scarlett?" Jake asks Scarlett.

"YES!" Scarlett says happily.

"I know what it is!" Levi says with a smile.

"Me too!" Avery says with a big grin.

"Me three!" Aurora says as she laughs.

"Don't spoil it you three!" Alex says playfully to Aurora, Levi and Avery.

"Okay, Scarlett! Open your eyes!" Jake says as he smiles at Alex.

Scarlett opens her eyes and she sees Dorothy sitting with Alex on the floor. Her birthday wish came true!

"OH MY GOSH IT''S DOROTHY! IT'S DOROTHY!" Scarlett says with a big cheeky smile.

"Surprise, Scarlett! Happy birthday, baby!" Alex says as Scarlett runs over to Alex and hugs him.

"Surprise!" Jake says as he cheers and gets very excited.

"I am so happy!" Scarlett says as she begins to cry and hugs Jake.

"We are so glad, baby!" Alex says to Scarlett and Jake smiles.

"YAY, DOROTHY!" Aurora, Levi and Avery all say in unison with big cheeky smiles at Dorothy.

"Do do!" Ruby says as she gets excited as well!

Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby all begin to pet and hug Dorothy making Dorothy feel very loved!

"Aww! Dorothy loves you guys so so much!" Jake says to Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby.

Alex holds Kai while Jake holds Taytum, introducing them to Dorothy!

"Dorothy did very well with the cats and the cats love her!" Alex says making Jake happy.

Lucky slowly walks over to Dorothy and begins to sniff her.

"Good girl, Lucky! That's your sister! Yeah!" Alex says happily to Lucky in a babyfied voice.

Dorothy then begins to sniff Lucky back, making the kids giggle and smile!

For the next few hours, Alex, Jake, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery, Ruby, Kai, Taytum, Swifty, Kacey, Gaga, Underwood and Lucky all bond and get to know Dorothy!

After a few hours of playing and bonding with Dorothy, it is now time for birthday cake!

"Scarlett, are you ready for birthday cake?" Alex asks Scarlett and Scarlett's face lights up.

"Yes! Let's do birthday cake!" Scarlett says with a cheeky smile!

"Okay! Let's all go in the dining room so we don't make a mess!" Jake says as Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery, Levi and Ruby all run into the dining room and sit at the dining room table!

Alex picks up Taytum to hold in his arms while Jake holds Kai in his arms!

Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby are all sitting together, patiently and anxiously waiting to sing happy birthday and eat some birthday cake!

Alex hands Taytum to Jake to hold so he can get Scarlett's birthday cake, which is in the kitchen!

Taytum and Kai both coo loudly making Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby all awe and smile at the twins.

Lucky, Dorothy, Swifty, Kacey, Gaga and Underwood  all walk in to join the birthday party festivities!

"Looks like the pets want some cake too!" Jake says happily to Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby all smile.

"Awww!" Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby all say in unison.

"But they can't have any okay? Cake can make their bellies hurt." Jake explains to Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby.

"Okay, Daddy!" Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby all say in unison to Jake.

Just then, Alex walks into the dining room, holding Scarlett's birthday cake!

"Woah! My birthday is sooo freaking AWESOME!" Scarlett says with a big cheeky smile.

"Do you love it, birthday girl?" Jake asks Scarlett and Scarlett nods.

"YES!" Scarlett says as she smiles up at him.

"Good!" Jake says with a cheeky smile at his eldest daughter.

Alex then picks up Taytum from Jake and holds her close.

Jake and Alex then begin to both place eight birthday candles on Scarlett's birthday cake and Jake lights them up!  

"Okay, everybody! Let's sing happy birthday to the birthday girl, Scarlett Rose Kirk!" Alex says making Scarlett giggle and blush.

"Happy birthday to you! Cha cha cha! Happy birthday to you! Cha cha cha! Happy birthday dear, Scarlett! Happy birthday to you! Cha cha cha!" Alex, Jake, Aurora, Levi and Avery all sing to Scarlett while Ruby cheers and claps her hands and Kai and Taytum both happily watch!

"Make a wish, birthday princess!" Alex says happily to Scarlett.

"Make a wish, baby!" Jake says as he takes a few pictures of Scarlett.

Scarlett thinks of a birthday wish and blows out her birthday candles causing Jake, Alex, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby all cheer!

Alex, Jake, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby all eat a piece of birthday cake together!

For the rest of the day, Alex, Jake, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery, Ruby, Kai, Taytum, Swifty, Kacey, Gaga, Underwood and Lucky all spend much needed time with Dorothy! 

Dorothy is officially a member of the Kirk family! :)
