A/n: finally back on track, sorry for the absence.

Also I might go back and edit some chapters since I found mistakes in them so if you get notifications from old chapters don't worry about it they will be the same, just minor improvements.

A lot of harsh language in this chapter...

"What do you want me to tell you ma? I fucked up" Mark pouted.

"Oh boy did you ever" Martha added with a nervous chuckle, sitting next to him on the edge of his bed.

"Wow, thanks for the reassurance" he sighed hanging his head low.

Martha huffed, "What do you expect me to say dear? You want me to pity you? Tell you a thread of lies to make you feel better about yourself?" She said sarcastically.

Mark let out a quiet sniffle. He wasn't crying but you could tell his eyes were glossy.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for any of this to happen" he uttered putting his head in his hands frustratedly.

"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to" she gave a stare raising her brows.

"Are you kidding? He'll never talk to me again!" He exclaimed.

"Not after what I've done" he added in a hushed tone.

"Well I know one thing," said Martha.

Mark hummed in response.

"You are never drinking again"

"Agreed" Mark obliged.

----------

About an hour later Mark was sprawled across his bed in silence staring up at the plain white ceiling. He couldn't bring himself to watch tv or play video games. He wanted to sit in his own pain.

Deep in thought there was a light knock on his bedroom door that startled him.

He groaned, "Mom I said to leave me alone, I'm not in the mood"

No words were said from the anonymous person behind the door, just another knock and a slight jiggle from the locked doorknob.

Mark turned over and buried his face in his pillow groaning. "Go away!" He pleaded.

One more jiggle of the doorknob and it opened. Mark sat up quickly and seen that it was not his mother.

He froze in his spot eyes wide, heart rate increasing by the minute.

Jack stood there with an unreadable face.

"Uh...H-how did y-" Mark stuttered, pointing to the now unlocked door.

"I've lived here for a while Mark, I know the tricks to unlock all doors in this house" Jack answered blankly throwing a pin carelessly to his desk.

"Oh..." He swallowed hard.

"Listen," Jack begun, crossing his arms looking very displeased.

"Let's not turn this into one of those cheesy romance movies with horribly planned out break ups or get-back-togethers-okay?"

Mark nodded.

"First off, you're a backstabbing bastard" said Jack, feeling no pity for the man.

Mark winced at the harsh word "I deserve that"

"You're a fucking liar and huge douchebag" he said effortlessly.

"That to" he looked down.

"I could say nice things about you but I'd rather tell the truth" said Jack.

"Go ahead..I deserve it" Mark sighed nervously.

"I told you not to drink! What the fuck Mark! And that's not what ticked me off the most, what part of "You're hurting me, get off!" Don't you understand?!" Jack yelled.

Mark didn't want to raise his voice or fight back, he had no reason to. He fucked up, it's his punishment. He deserved every harsh word/name Jack said or called him.

"How many spoonfuls of bitch did you have that night, huh?! I trusted you! And I trust little to no people! You were my escape from my past! You knew my history!" Jack roared then got quieter.

"But then you became my history..." Jack blinked away tears in his eyes.

Jack went to see Mark to make amends but not before he gave him a piece of his mind. Jack wasn't gonna let what happened to him slide.

"I know..." Mark said quietly.

"Grasp your ears firmly and pull, you just might be able to pull your head out of your ass and think clearly" Jack finished with a huff.

Wow that felt good, Jack thought.

"I..-" Mark was speechless.

"I'm so sorry, I never meant to hurt you. I'd never ever ever want to hurt you on purpose. I know being sorry isn't enough, you deserve better" Mark cried out.

"I let you down, I stole your happiness, I don't deserve forgiveness...You gave me your heart, your promise, and I broke that. I'm so sorry I hurt you, maybe one day you can forgive me, if not, I understand completely" he sniffled.

"It takes a strong person to say sorry and truly mean it, but a stronger person to show forgiveness" Jack gave a small half smile.

"You can apologize over and over to me, but if your actions don't change, the words become meaningless" said Jack.

"So...Does the right person with the wrong timing ever get a second chance?" Mark asked.

"If you are willing to change, yes"
