~ Jack ~

It was early. 4:38am to be exact. Mark was asleep next to me slightly snoring. I couldn't fall asleep, for too much was on my mind.

I decided to get out of our warm bed, throw on a hoodie and walk downstairs.

I thought a night time walk would help clear my mind.

As I was walking I reached a nearby park and decided to sit on the swing. I go to reach in my pocket for my phone to see what time it is but all I got was empty inside fabric. I sighed remembering I left it on the nightstand by our bed. I shrugged and continued to slowly swing.

About 30 more minutes passed by and I was still at the park, thinking.

I just sat there and looked at the clear night sky. 'Strange' I thought, it looks like me on the inside, empty. No stars or moon filling the beautiful sapphire canvas. Then me, what's filling my canvas?

Nothing.

The sun started to rise so I decided to head back, as I was getting up from the swing I heard loud footsteps running towards me from behind. As I turned around I was tackled to the ground by none other than Mark. He was breathing heavily and slightly sweaty.

He just sat there clinging to me mumbling words I can't even hear nor understand.

"Mark what are you doing here?" I asked trying to get off the ground.

"Jesus christ Jack you scared the living hell out of me you know that?!" He panted.

"What do you mean? I only went for a walk" I replied.

"Without leaving a note! You left pretty damn early all for a walk, and usually I wouldn't freak out but you weren't answering my calls or texts for the past 2 hours, so ya I was a little afraid" he retorted.

"I left my phone on the nightstand, I guess I forgot to take it when I left, I'm sorry" I replied.

He only shook his head and brought me into a hug, "I'm just glad you're safe"

He pecked my lips and we began walking back home.

"Breakfast is ready!" Martha yelled to us.

We all sat down at the bar-like table as Martha handed me and Mark our plates.

"Jack dear I'm not sure what you like but this will have to do" she said putting the plate of eggs and bacon in front of me.

"It's perfect, thank you" I said to her.

She happily smiled and joined us eating.

"Glad to know you're safe, I heard Mark yell for ya but you didn't answer," she began saying, I looked over at Mark, smirking at his blushing face.

"I thought you just went out or somethin' but Mark here made it seem like you left and would never come back" she finished.

I chuckled at what she said, "well I can assure you I won't be leaving any time soon"

"I hope not, seeing you only left for a few hours made my son freak out I would hate to see how he is if you leave for good" she giggled.

"Ok mom I think you can stop now," Mark said nervously laughing.

"Besides, I didn't freak out that bad" he retorted chewing on some bacon.

"Oh poppycock, you sounded like a virgin in Jesus camp" she said mocking Mark from his previous actions.

Everybody went into a fit of giggles after that. I didn't think breakfast could be that entertaining.
