Chapter 3

On a ninth day after her interview at SK enterprise, suggested by Tanya who seeked help from her brother. Her interview was short but it went well as per her opinion. However she still had not received any answer from them. Her days were restless.

Another week passed and those were the longest days of her life. She would sit around her room, here and there, search the corners of the internet for more jobs options but none of them sound that appealing. To distract herself, she was working on her website, hoping to get started her business venture next year if she felt like she was ready.

She wanted to be in fashion industry for sure. Marketing a line of clothing. Over the years, she had a list of designers, small scale but deserving candidates to collaborate for her business. If opportunity and right time came, she would leave eveything behind and her all attention would be focused on her aim only.

Jay came before midnight in her room. He knew she wasn't asleep as the light of her room was peeking beneath the door.

He knocked.

"Come in!" She yelled while she surfed through the internet for ideas to kick start her life.

"You'll lose your sight sooner if you didn't leave your laptop for a moment." He commented.

"I know!" She shot him a small smile.

He sat on the bed, crossed his leg, copying her posture. "Here!"

She glanced to see he was holding a plastic cup. The label on the cup was the one where Beck worked.

"Wow!" She was surprised. "You went at this time to get me a coffee. Thanks."

He gave it to her. "You should go out. Beck said you had told him over the phone you're busy."

"I'm busy, " she said, shutting the laptop. Her eyes did hurt now. "And he knows I never miss his coffee. But I also don't feel like going anywhere nowadays."

"Nowadays?" He said. "The last time you went out was for that interview. Since the  you've been couped in here. What's going on? You are not planning on staying in, forever," He added, scrutinizing her face. "Are you?"

She laughed at his silly thought. "No!"

"Your mom and I are worried about you." He told her. Of course, she knew that. "We don't know how to help you."

"Dad, " she could see the helplessness in his eyes. "It's a temporary setback. I'm fine, really. I swear I'm busy and the outside, it bores me honestly."

"Tell me what are you doing all day?"

He expelled a heavy breath. Her lips puckered, mind taking a trip for a long thought. She shot a comfortable look at her father before crossing her legs, displaying her laptop for Jay to see.

They both sat and as she gave a detailed demo of what her dream looked like and what was measures she was willing to take, her father looked impressed.

"You're going to make me even more proud very soon." Jay was smiling. "This is awesome." He pointed at the laptop, a dairy that had ideas, cutouts of several aesthetic, design crammed inside.

"I know dad." She said. "But I still am waiting for a push. I feel like something is holding me back. I know it the fear of risk. I have seen dozens projects fall. Some even don't stay for months."

"Risk in the part of business." He said. "You know that better than me. But you keep going. You'll know when to push the start button." He kissed on her forehead, rolled off the bed, and headed to the door.

"Never underestimate yourself."

.....

It was the morning of next monday when a lot of things took place. While Estella was in the shower, Lilah recieved a call for her. Turned out, SK enterprises wanted her talent afterall and she was told to visit that day to discuss her about her job.

At breakfast, Jay's lawyer contacted them about the lawsuit, asking them to visit for a peaceful negotiation outside of the court. Although, Jay's reluctance to negotiate was still stood firmly, Estella convinced him to cooperate.

It was decided that she would drop his father on the way to her upcoming workplace. Initially she was planning to join Jay, but she wanted to make a first good impression at her new job, and she was assured by her father that he would handle it.

An hour later, her car halted infront of the skyscraper that was called the Blake's corporations. Just like she was told by Tanya, the lawsuit was handled by Blake's.

She peered her head out of the window taking in her surrounding. By the looks of it, the building might be forty storyed building or even more. She made a rough guess and her neck hurt while watching it.

"Good luck kiddo!" Jay called her, snapping her out of her reverie.

"You too!" She said and turned on the gas and drove away, existing the main gate of the wall that surrounded the building. Blake's corporation was huge and a place she could only dream of working there. High profile, talented, and experienced people could step inside and become the part of the workforce. Interns from pretigous colleges could manage to get an internship there.

SK enterprise looked promising and she the workplace speak a friendly environment. Since Estella was open to be part of any team, she knew it was the perfect place.

Her enthusiasm died down when she was asked to sit with the human resource deaprtment manager her about her position and responsibilities.

"When I said I was open to any work, " she said impatiently, holding her calm at place. "I didn't mean to be part of this."

"Why not?" Mrs. Banks, the manager argued. "You'll have interns under you training. What's so bad about it?"

"I want to be part of the business, not a teacher." She told her. Mrs Bank had told her to lead a performance improvement plan for interns.

The conversation was cut short when Mrs Banks was summoned for some emergency meeting she was suppose to be at. With no conclusion and decision made she was advised to think for a day and two and submit her response.

She left, her hope not so high as they were before and decided to join Jay back at the negotiations, particularly to distract herself.

The skyscraper was back, infront of her when she came back. Jay has texted her that he was on the 37th floor, the corner room on her first left. She walked past the glass gates, taking in her surrounding. The lobby was large, mostly empty except for waiting chair around the one side of the wall.

She looked at the reception, behind her, in bold letters Blake corporations was imprinted on the wall. A litte far to it's left, a huge pamplet of a man in his late 20's named Elvis Blake was mentioned. He was the owner, the only few things she knew about it.

It was the ding of the elevator that made her turn her heels and reach for the door. She was about to enter the inside when the only person she had forgotten about reappeared, dressed in a suit.
