❞Don't trust a new face, even the pretty ones.❞
Hunter was overwhelmed. First, Elena was on some suicide mission to get herself killed, and in any other day Hunter would be fine with it, but she wanted to do it for Klaus. Now, Hunter doesn't know much about the vampire, but he seemed like the type that would do anything to get what he wants. Hunter is the same way when he wants something, but he wouldn't kill someone for it.
Bonnie angled her body towards Hunter who was busy zoning off into the distance. "Hunter, are you even listening?"
"What?" Hunter blinked, before speaking up. "Uh, no? Should I be listening?"
"Yes, you should be. We need all the help we can get." Bonnie held up the pale white stone that caused so many problems in their lives.
"I hate that rock." Hunter narrowed his eyes at it.
"Anyways." Elena cleared her throat. "Now that you've got this back, what are you gonna do with it?"
Bonnie placed her lips into a thin line. "Right now, it's what is binding the Sun and the Moon Curse. If I can figure out a way to remove the spell from the stone, the stone becomes useless."
"And according to the Petrova bitches, Klaus becomes vengeful." Hunter commented while moving his feet off the bed. "I don't understand how a vampire with wrinkles could be so dangerous."
"Hunter, you don't even know what he looks like." Elena scoffed. "How about we keep the Klaus comments to a minimum."
"I'm sorry Elena, but this needs to be discussed." Hunter shot her a wink, earning a glare from her.
"Hunter's right, Elena. This needs to be discussed." Bonnie glanced at Hunter before resting her eyes on her best friend. "Klaus won't become vengeful if he doesn't find out about it."
Elena sighed. "Bonnie, can't this wait? Stefan is stuck in the tomb with Katherine. We've got to get him out."
"Who cares about Stefan? No offense to you Elena, but he's not at the top of the list right now." Hunter stated with venom laced behind the vampire's name.
"Why do you hate him so much, Hunter?" Bonnie furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "You never really told us what happened between you and Stefan."
"That's my own business, little witch." Hunter muttered.
Hunter went quiet when the words left the back of his throat. He was caught off guard when Bonnie asked him that, and he didn't know how to answer it. Stefan is a difficult subject for him, and only Damon knew that. Hunter couldn't share it to Elena because she was the main reason why it happened in the first place.
"Stefan wants me to focus on this." Bonnie spoke up after a few minutes of silence.
Elena shook her head. "Don't listen to him. He thinks that he's protecting me, but he's wrong."
"He isn't wrong Elena." Hunter made a noise of disagreement. "Stefan loves you, okay? He's only protecting you because of that."
"Hunter's right, Elena. He doesn't want you in harm ways." Bonnie said while placing the moonstone next to her. "I'm taking Stefan's side with this one. We're not gonna let you get used in some creepy sacrifice ritual."
"What are you guys arguing about?" Jeremy asked while walking into Elena's bedroom.
"And that's my cue to leave."
➼
"Elena, would you stop complaining before I ram my foot up your ass." Hunter grumbled under his breath.
For over an hour, Hunter found himself babysitting Elena while the Salvatore brothers deal with Katherine and Noah. It was fun at first, that was until Elena found out she was magically stuck in the house with Hunter and Jeremy. Now he was stuck listening to her complaining every five minutes. That was until Damon Salvatore walked into the house.
"You should really lock your door." Damon said while he walked into the living room. He looked at Elena who was pouting at him. "Oh, come on, pouty. At least give me two points for ingenuity."
"Do you think this is funny?" Elena asked him.
"Yes, Elena. I find hilarity in the lengths that I have to go to repeatedly save your life." Damon retorted.
"Hey asshole, shut up." Hunter glared at the older vampire who didn't seem fazed by his outburst.
"What does Stefan say about this?"
"We had a good laugh." Damon stated.
"Of course you did. What's new?" Hunter scoffed. "You seem to laugh at everything, Damon."
Damon rolled his eyes before sitting in between Hunter and Elena on the couch while she spoke. "And what did he say about Elijah still being alive?"
"Yeah, that- I didn't tell him."
"Again, of course you didn't." Hunter shoved his hands in the air in desperation. He turned to look at Damon with narrowed eyes. "Why didn't you tell him?"
"Well A: he can't do anything about it; and B:...what I just said."
Before Hunter could come up with snarky remark, Jeremy has walked into the room with Bonnie no where in sight. That made Hunter furrow his eyebrows in confusion on where she could've went off to. Everyone in the room must have been thinking the same thing because that's when Damon opened his mouth to speak.
"Where is Bonnie?" Damon asked Jeremy.
"I thought she was meeting you." Jeremy said.
"No, she's on moonstone duty and I'm on Elena patrol."
"Actually Damon, we're on Elena patrol." Hunter corrected.
Damon rolled his eyes while Jeremy questioned the vampire. "And who's on Tyler Lockwood and the full moon?"
"Hopefully no one, Tyler's an ass." Hunter scoffed. "But don't worry Damon, you're a bigger ass than he is."
"Ha, you're not funny." Damon glared at the human. He took a deep breath before looking at Jeremy. "Vampire Barbie asked me if she could handle it, and I said, why not? Figured if she screwed up, he'll bite her and then I'll be rid of two of my problems."
"If she dies, then I'm going to kill you painfully." Hunter threatened the vampire with narrowed eyes.
Damon's phone started to ring loudly, causing the vampire to whip out his phone. The boy watched the older male walk out of the room while Elena was asking him questions. Shaking his head, Hunter turned his head to look at Elena who looked miserable by the second. Hunter couldn't blame her, if he was stuck in the house by magic, he would've went crazy by the minute.
"Change of plans guys. Jeremy your going to stay here and babysit her." Damon barked out orders. He glanced at Hunter. "Hunter, you're coming with me."
"Why?" Hunter asked.
"Cause apparently there is a new girl in town who is looking for Mason Lockwood and the last time I checked he was dead."
➼
Hunter knew what he was signing up for when he decided to join Damon on this new adventure that he came up with. But he didn't realize that it would relate to a female werewolf who was best friends with a dead one. When we walked into the bar, it was quarter passed one in the afternoon, meaning that the lunch crowd was finally leaving the Mystic Grill.
The boy was sitting in the middle between Damon and Alaric while their eyes were trained on a female with blonde hair who was quietly talking to Matt Donovan. His heart lurched forward when he remembered the night that he blindly attacked him. It was one of the worst nights of this year, and he couldn't take any of it back.
"Is that her?" Hunter asked them.
Damon's eyes were still trained on the blonde. "Mmm, Mason's mystery woman."
"Where is Mason anyway?" Alaric asked.
"Decomposing in his truck." Damon took a sip of his drink before setting it back down on the table.
"So you think she is a werewolf?"
"I think she is. She has this look in her eye that clearly screams I'm a dog, please help me." Hunter replied.
"Do you ever stop talking?" Damon groaned in annoyance. He turned to look at his best friend. "Well I hope not, being that it's a full moon, Ric, but we should definitely find out."
"Damon, please enlighten me on how you're going to accomplish that?"
Damon smirked while he took something out of his pocket, catching Alaric's attention. "What is that?"
"Wolfsbane."
A couple hours has passed before the full moon was at it's fullest. Hunter knew that it wasn't a good night to pick a fight with a werewolf, especailly during a full moon. But Hunter knew that Damon obviously didn't care about that simple fact. With a sigh, Hunter took a seat next to Alaric who took one next to the blonde at the bar.
"Well hello. Can I have a scotch and whatever this beautiful woman is drinking." Alaric asked the bartender.
Hunter tried to hold back a snicker at Alaric's attempt to be drunk, earning a glare from him. He knew that this was going to either end up really good or so bad that they have to run for their lives. But knowing that Damon was going to be running it, it should be the other option.
The blonde laughed lightly. "No, one is my limit."
"Oh come on, it's not like I'm a freak. I'm just being friendly to somebody who's new to town." Alaric tried again with a smile.
"Okay, if you insist. How do you know I'm new?"
That's when Damon decided to show up when Alaric started to speak again. "Because I've never seen you here before and I am here every night."
"Excuse me, is this guy bothering you?" Damon asked her.
"I'm not bothering anybody." Alaric defended himself.
"Sure, you aren't." Hunter spoke up. "You've been hitting on her for the past five minutes. Do us a favor and move along before I beat your ass."
Alaric looks at Damon and Hunter before walking away with a smirk on his face. While Damon was talking to the blonde, Alaric had placed a small amount of wolfsbane in her drink. Hunter knew that this probably wouldn't work, like most of their plans. The boy watches Damon give her the glass with a smile on his face.
"Thank you for the drink." She said to Damon.
➼
"Elena, what did you want?" Hunter asked his sister when he walked through the front door.
When he was at the bar, his sister had texted him saying that he needed him for something important. Hunter at first was stubborn, saying he didn't want to go home, but then she said someone was at their house uninvited, making him get home in a hurry.
"If this is an emergency then say it, if not I'm walking out that door again." Hunter glared at his sister.
Elena rolled her eyes. "Just come upstairs with me."
Hunter huffed in annoyance but didn't press on the subject anymore. He didn't feel like getting into another argument with Elena since it's pointless to do so. When they walked upstairs, Hunter shoved his hands into his pocket before following Elena inside her room. Hunter was about to open his mouth, but stopped when he saw who was sitting on the edge of her window still.
"Oh, it's you." Hunter blinked, before narrowing his eyes. "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
"I think it's time for us to have a little chat." Elijah examined them. He ignored Hunter's statement before motioning to the bed. "Have a seat."
When Hunter and Elena took a seat, Elijah spoke again. "Forgive the intrusion. I mean your family no harm."
"Sure you don't." Hunter muttered to himself, earning a nudge from Elena. "Why did you save us yesterday? Well, why did you save Elena from giving herself up? I mean, I wouldn't have mine if she did."
"I didn't want her to be taken. Klaus is the most feared and hated of the Originals, but those that fear him are desperate for his approval." Elijah explained while fixing his tie. "If word gets out that the doppelganger exists, there'll be a line of vampires eager to take her to him and I can't have that."
"Isn't that exactly what you're trying to do?" Elena asked.
"Let's just say that my goal is not to break the curse."
"Then what is?" Hunter questioned. "If you don't want to break the curse, what is your goal?"
"Klaus's obsession has made him paranoid. He's a recluse. He trusts only those in his immediate circle." Elijah stated.
"Like you?"
"Not anymore."
"I wonder why." Hunter mused out loud. He narrowed his eyes at Elijah. "What did you do to break his trust?"
"That's none of your concern." Elijah shook his head at the oldest Gilbert. "I'm not on his trust list anymore. It's a long story for another time."
"You don't know where he is, do you? So you're trying to use me to draw him out." Elena replied after figuring it out.
"Actually I'm trying to use both of you." Elijah corrected her. "Klaus wants you for different reasons."
Hunter furrowed his eyebrows. "Why does he want me?"
"Let's just say he doesn't want you for your blood."
"If he doesn't want me for my blood, then what does he want?"
"He wants you because of what you are."
➼
Hunter sat on the edge of his bedside, his eyebrows furrowed in deep concentration. He didn't know how to feel about the information that Elijah had told him and Elena earlier. Elijah told them to not do anything, live a normal life and doing normal things. But that's hard to accomplish when their friend's are part of the supernatural.
Before he could think deeper into his thinking, a certain vampire barged into his room, his eyes wild and wide. Hunter furrowed his eyebrows in confusion when he saw Damon in his room.
Hunter stood up and approached the man. "Damon, are you okay? What's wrong?"
"It's Rose." Damon replied. "Jules broke into the boarding house and bit her on the shoulder."
"Oh my god. She's going to die, isn't she?" Hunter placed a hand over his mouth in horror.
Damon didn't say anything but soon spoke up. "That's not why I'm here though."
"Then, why are you?"
"Jules said something when you left. She asked Alaric and I why you didn't have a scent like a normal human being would." Damon explained.
"What are you trying to say, Damon?"
"Hunter, you're not human."
