❞Every darkness has it's weakness❞
The night was calm, yet, the calmest nights were the most dangerous. Something was going to happen tonight, something bad. Hunter could feel it, even though there was no proof that anything would happen this evening, he still felt a weird sensation. It seemed like every time there was some kind of event, something went terribly wrong during the time spent there.
Death is one of the main outcomes that occurred because of a stupid choice that either the Gilbert siblings made, or because the Salvatore brothers would show up and make matters worse. This town was demented. If Hunter ever received a chance to leave Mystic Falls behind, he would leave in a heartbeat.
So when he showed up in front of the Salvatore boarding house in a tuxedo and his masquerade mask in hand, he knew that this night would be like a scale. One minute it would be good, then all of a sudden, it would lean the other way. He wanted one night to be perfect, that's all he ever asked for.
"Well, don't you look smashing." Damon said when he opened the door, a smirk plastered on his face.
"I could say the same about you, too." Hunter stated while walking into the boarding house. He looked around and frowned when he didn't see his promised date. "Where is my escort? Damon, I thought you said you found someone to take me to the Lockwood's ball?"
"Well, you see Hunter. That was a small lie coming from my mouth." Damon started to walk away with a drink in his hand. "And besides, Stefan wouldn't let me get you one in the first place. He was afraid that more people would get hurt."
"But you promised." Hunter looked at him with hurt clearly written in his eyes, but it soon went away at the vampires next words.
"I didn't promise you anything. Now shut up and let me take you to the ball."
Hunter didn't complain anymore knowing that Damon would always win no matter what. So he followed the older vampire to the parlor where Jeremy, Caroline and Alaric where around the table, while Stefan and Bonnie stood in the corner of the room. They all had serious looks on their face, and Hunter knew that it was time for some business. Hunter knew that this was going to happen, but he didn't think so soon.
"I know you love Elena and you want to be with her but it's risky." Bonnie said to Stefan, before looking at Hunter, who just joined them. "Hunter, I know she's your sister but leave her out of this. Too many people could get hurt."
"No, I agree with you." Hunter nodded. "I couldn't bare to see her hurt, or anyone in the process."
"Unless your 'I'm going to hurt everyone because I like it' ego shows up, then we won't be fine." Damon stated from across the room.
"Damon, shut up." Hunter glared at him with narrowed eyes. "If it does decide to pay a visit, you'll be the first to go."
"Look, I want Elena back, yes, but it's more than that." Stefan said, ignoring Damon and Hunter's argument. "What Katherine and Noah did to Jenna it crossed the line. They have to be stopped before it happens again."
Apparently a lot of things had happened yesterday when Hunter was involved with Matt Donovan. Katherine and Noah somehow compelled Jenna to stab herself in the stomach when Elena and Alaric where at the house. The Petrova siblings wanted revenge because Damon ripped Mason Lockwood's heart out.
"I don't know, Stefan." Bonnie said warily.
"They both know me, right. Both of them know that I'm not gonna try something in a crowd full of innocent people so that gives me an edge." Stefan pointed out to the witch. "I could catch them by surprise."
"What if you used a spell to contain bitch one and two from leaving the Lockwood's house?" Hunter suggested.
"That could work." Stefan looked at the younger boy in approval.
"I could do a spell to trap them, like the tomb spell."
"Right. We can isolate them, away from the others." Stefan looked at Bonnie with hopeful eyes. "Please Bonnie."
Bonnie turned to look at Hunter. "Are you sure you're going to be okay, Hunter? You can stay out of this if you want, too."
"No, I need to do this, Bonnie." Hunter shook his head. "I won't let my emotions get in my way."
"Okay."
After the conversation ended to no one talking, Hunter followed the pair over to the gathering circle in the middle of the room. All of them could feel their own accelerating heart beating a mile per minute. Everyone was nervous, not just the humans, but all the supernatural in the room as well. They knew that the plan could either go one way, or a way that they don't want to happen in the first place.
"Are you sure you guys don't want me there tonight?" Alaric asked everyone.
"No, I need you to stay with Elena. I don't want her to know about this." Stefan shook his head.
"Please, Alaric." Hunter looked at him pleadingly. "We really need you to do this."
"Okay. Well, I'll make sure she doesn't leave my sight."
Stefan looked at everyone before speaking. "Alright, if anybody wants to back out, I'll understand."
"Yeah, cold feet speak now. I don't want this going wrong if someone chicken's out." Damon narrowed his eyes, before looking at Caroline. "Caroline."
"I won't." Caroline placed her lips into a thin line. "Look, Katherine killed me, and Noah helped. Fair's fair. But as long as there's no werewolf running around I think we're going to be okay."
"Well, were fine, remember?" Hunter raised an eyebrow. "I'm pretty sure Mason Lockwood is still dead."
"Oh, I took care of Mason."
"We know." Hunter rolled his eyes at the older vampire. "What about Tyler?"
"As long as Tyler doesn't kill anyone, he won't turn." Jeremy says.
"Can I kill him?"
Jeremy gave his brother a look before shaking his head, a small smile on his face. "No, Hunter. Let's leave the torturing to the others."
Stefan glanced at Bonnie briefly. "Bonnie? Are you with us?"
Everyone turned to look at the witch before she placed her lips into a thin line. "No one else gets hurt."
"Except the Petrova bitches."
The next thing Hunter knew, he was being ushered into the car with Caroline. He would've went with Stefan and Damon, but he was ignoring the oldest Salvatore brother at the moment. Hunter was tired of his unnecessary comments, so he needed some space from the vampire.
"So.." Caroline's voice trailed off while her fingers tapped on top of the steering wheel.
"So?" Hunter raised one of his eyebrow in question.
"You and Damon, huh? What's going on there?" Caroline looked at the boy briefly before turning her attention back to the road.
"There is nothing going on between Damon and I." Hunter shook his head in denial. "Were just friends."
"Are you sure about that?" Caroline smiled devilishly.
"Yes, I don't date assholes, especially someone named Damon Salvatore."
Caroline cracked a smile in his direction. "That's good Hunter. You finally realized who he truly was. I'm so proud of you."
Hunter couldn't help but let out a bark of laughter. "So, let me get this straight, Caroline. The reason why you're proud of me is because I finally figured out the truth behind Damon and his actions?"
"Exactly."
"I hate to break it to you, Car. But I already knew he was dick from the first time I met him."
"Then why did you go for him?" Caroline questioned.
Hunter grew silent, no more laughter left his mouth. There is a reason behind everyone's actions, and he only knew the truth behind his. He knew that the blonde knew about some of them, but the major one he kept bottled up inside of him. The truth is, he just wanted to feel loved by someone.
"I don't know." Hunter muttered, looking out the window in silence.
It felt like ages when they finally pulled into the familiar road that led to the Lockwood's. Nervousness erupted out of his stomach as it dawned on him that this was actually happening. He wasn't sure that the plan would actually work, but they needed to try something before more innocent people got hurt. The thought of someone innocent getting hurt struck a nerve in every part of Hunter's body. He couldn't handle that idea coming to life.
"We're going to be fine, Hunter." Caroline cut the car off, before glancing in the boy's direction.
Hunter let out a deep breath and neither one of them knew the truth behind that statement. Both of them knew that if there was one wrong movement, it would be chaos for everyone in the house. Chaos was something that Hunter enjoyed if his other self came out, and the idea of that happening caused him to swallow hard.
"So what do we do?" Hunter let out a shaky breath.
Caroline shrugged. "Right now let's just find Stefan and Damon. All we need to do at this moment is set the plan up and find the right moment to lure Katherine and Noah into it."
"What if we can't, Caroline? What if it comes back and bites us in the ass? I couldn't handle the idea of seeing someone getting hurt by our actions."
"You just need to believe in it." Caroline spoke softly. "I know this may seem scary to you, but believe me, I know this will work."
Hunter grabbed his masquerade mask before making his way out of the car. His heart was accelerating by the minute, and he hated the feeling. Caroline's words were flowing through his head. There were so many things that could go wrong in this plan. He knew that if he couldn't keep his emotions in check, he would hurt someone innocent.
"Do you see them?" Hunter asked Caroline. "The Salvatore brothers? They said they would be meeting us-"
A scream interrupted his sentence when a pair of hands grabbed his shoulders and pushed him to the ground. A look of pain flashed across his eyes but soon diminished into nothing when he saw who pushed him. It was someone he hadn't seen in a long time- someone who hurt him more than once.
"Jasper." Hunter growled under his breath.
"Hello, mate."
Hunter couldn't believe that Jasper Lyons was back in town. Last time that Hunter and him had a conversation was when Jeremy found out that Jasper was abusing his older brother and he threatened the blonde to leave Hunter alone. Jasper and Hunter were in a relationship that was toxic. The oldest Gilbert believed that Jasper was in love with him when clearly he only wanted to cause pain in his life.
"You're not my mate, nor will we ever be." Hunter pushed himself off the ground while Caroline watched the scene with worry. "Why are you back in Mystic Falls?"
"Maybe I missed you, Hunter." Jasper stated, his British accent thick in his voice. "Maybe I wanted to have a second chance with you. Isn't that enough?"
"No, you lost that chance when you started abusing me." Hunter shook his head, turning away.
Before Hunter could walk away from the scene, a loud crack was heard. He quickly turned around to see that Jasper was on the ground, clutching his bleeding noise in pain. The person who inflicted the pain was Damon Salvatore himself. Damon was standing there with Stefan holding his arms back in worry.
"Don't you ever go near Hunter again. Do you understand me?" Damon glared hatefully at the blonde. "If I ever see you talking to him again, you won't be bleeding, you'll be in pieces."
Hunter watched Damon give Jasper one final kick before he sent the boy running away in fear. He couldn't believe that someone like Damon would do that for him. What was so special about him? He was just the brother to Elena and Jeremy, nothing unique about him.
"What a scaredy cat." Damon scoffed loudly after he watched Jasper's retreating figure.
And after the situation that had happened, a few hours later went by fast. Now Hunter found himself standing in between the Salvatore brothers as they kept an eye out for the Petrova siblings. The backyard was lit up with lights and filled with people dancing to the music. That was something he loved to witness in his own eyes. It gave him a feeling that told him that things would always even out, even in the hardest times.
"Do you seen them?" Stefan asked.
"You mean Noah and Katherine?" Hunter asked him.
"No, the Easter Bunny." Damon rolled his eyes behind his mask. "Yes, dumbass them."
Hunter glared hard at the older Salvatore brother before huffing. "You're lucky I'm not smacking you in the face right now. I'm refraining to do that because you saved me from Jasper."
"Would you guys knock it off?" Stefan sighed, before speaking. "You're sure you can do this?"
Hunter glanced at Stefan to see he was looking at Damon, who furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Who are you talking to?"
"The Easter Bunny. Who do you think dumbass?" Hunter mocked Damon, a small smirk on his face.
"Ha, you're not funny" Damon gave Hunter a look before switching his attention to the youngest Salvatore.
Hunter could've laughed at Stefan's expression. He knew that the vampire was most likely done with his interaction with Damon. One thing about Hunter is that he loved to make Stefan annoyed. Something about annoying Stefan made him happy in a weird way.
"Oh, I had a chance to kill her and I hesitated." Stefan explained, referring to the time he couldn't kill Katherine Petrova.
"I'm pretty sure Damon won't hesitate." Hunter stated. "He is impulsive, unlike you Stefan. No offense to you buddy."
Damon made some weird hand movements before responding. "Well that is the fork in the road between you and me my friend. I don't hesitate, hell, even Hunter wouldn't."
"Well-"
"Just go with it." Damon shoved his elbow into Hunter's side, earning him a glare.
Minutes later Hunter left the Salvatore brothers to find his own. Hunter was the first one to make eye contact with his younger brother. The only way this would work is if everyone stayed with at least one person who was part of the plan to take down Katherine and Noah. Nothing could go wrong tonight, or bad things would happen.
"Hey Jer." Hunter greeted, giving his brother a forced smile.
"Where's Stefan? He called, said to meet here." He said.
"He's inside with Damon. Where's Bonnie?" Hunter asked, looking around the lawn for the witch.
"She will be here soon, Hunter." Jeremy informed his brother. He then placed a hand on his older brother's shoulder when he started to freak out. "Hey, we will be fine. As long as Elena stays home, she will be fine."
"I hope, for our sake."
Jeremy didn't answer, instead he started walking away from his brother, leaving the boy behind. That simple action made Hunter furrow his eyebrows in confusion when he saw a familiar brunette standing with another girl in a masquerade mask.
"Elena." Jeremy said, taking off his mask.
Hunter recognized the brunette as Katherine, not Elena. Before he could inform his brother on who she truly was, he started speaking to the girl standing next to the vampire. "Hey sorry, could I talk to my sister?"
"Jer-"
"What is it Jeremy?" She asked.
"Stop acting like my sister, bitch." Hunter spat, earning a warning look from Jeremy. "How about you go home and enjoy your miserable life somewhere far from here."
"You remind me so much of my brother." Katherine smirked. "That's one of the reasons why I like you, and how Noah took interest in you."
"I have a message from Stefan."
Katherine looked surprised. "Oh?"
"Yeah, it's your a worthless bitch who needs to grow the fuck-"
Hunter's speech was interrupted by Jeremy's hand slamming over his mouth to muffle the words coming out of his mouth. The last thing they needed was Katherine lashing out at everyone cause of Hunter's choice of words.
"Ignore him, I do." Jeremy said quickly.
"Rude." Hunter huffed out loud, leaving them alone.
When Jeremy continued to talk to Katherine, Hunter decided to go inside the Lockwood's house to find Stefan. The house was filled with people in masquerade masks with drinks in their hands while they socialized with the person next to them.
"Hey." Caroline appeared in front of him, causing the boy to jump. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
Hunter placed his hand over his racing heart before taking a deep breath. "It's okay, Car. Have you seen Stefan?"
"He was talking to Damon the last time I saw him." Caroline explained, before her eyes went wide.
Hunter couldn't utter one word before someone grabbed him into the closest room. He looked up to see a familiar face glaring down at him. Swallowing hard, he forced a fake smile on his face when Noah Petrova took a couple strides towards him.
"What are Stefan and Damon up to?" Noah snarled.
"What do you mean?" Hunter said in a shaky breath.
"I've got Stefan talking to me more than usual, and Damon can't stop flirting with me." Noah explained, annoyance in his eyes. "All this interaction is making me want to kill them even more now."
"Sounds like your problem, not mine." Hunter rolled his eyes, angering Noah.
Noah slammed the boy into the wall harshly before yelling. "Tell me what you know. If you don't, I won't hesitate in killing Jeremy right in front of you."
"I don't know anything." Hunter yelled back.
"I know when you're lying Hunter." Noah snapped, grabbing him by the throat.
"I-I can't breath." Hunter gasped out, clawing at his throat.
"Start talking or I will snap you neck." He threatened.
"They're trying to kill you."
That's when Noah unwrapped his hand around Hunter's neck before the boy tumbled to the ground. The next thing Hunter knew Noah was out of the room, making the boy question every plan that his friends made. He pushed himself out of the room and ran straight into Damon Salvatore.
"First, Damon. I'm never listening to you again because your plans suck."

I know this chapter was horribly written cause I kind of rushed it. This chapter showed a new character named Jasper in it. He is played by Evan Peters and he will be showing up again in the second part of the book.
The next chapter will be the rest of episode seven and eight. Who is ready for Elijah?
Question of the chapter: What are other good shows to watch?
My Answer: Teen Wolf is great.
Which Original, besides Klaus should be protective over Hunter? I'm thinking Kol, but I want to hear your thoughts.
