Rumors
The office was busy. The mailroom making their rounds and the receptionists transferring calls. The brightly colored women that stayed sat in her office waiting for a call, strangely wasn't.
She was pacing back and forth in her office. Her shoes kept clicking on the floor. She tapped her finger on her chin, thinking of something.
When a small girl rode on the elevator up, she held two to-go cups one with tea, the other with straight black coffee. She was wearing a more professional out fit than the day before. Dressed in a silk black top and black suit pants, her shoes were black platformed boots. The pants covered the ankle high boots.
Walking down the hall, the sound of her Chucky heeled boots and liquid splashing up against the sides of the cups she held were the only things heard.
When she reached the door to the room, she heard the clicking of the techie's kitten heels on the concrete floors of her office. She listened for a bit, and then knocked on the door. She heard the girl inside jump off the floor just a bit.
The girl stepped in on the women and looked at her with a straight face,"Garcia, I brought you Earl grey tea for you." No softness in her voice, no emotion in all actuality.
"Where do you want me?"
"O-oh yes, I set up a chair for you right there agent gray," She pointed a wheelie chair that was black leather,"and uhhh, please don't get in my way."
"I wasn't planning to Garcia. It's your room, your work." Gray responded.
"Thank you, I guess the rumors aren't so true."
"What rumors?"
"The ones about you, and how you are the fiercest agent at 28. That you are rude, uncaring and cold. You have been working for the FBI for almost your whole life. All of your teams have talked about how you were so uncaring, that you could have watched them be killed and you wouldn't have cared." Garcia answered the question.
Standing silently Gray didn't react. She had heard these before, not like this though. Garcia was upfront, she wasn't going to play around. The girl was bubbly, almost the exact opposite of Gray. That was enough for her to believe it. She had finally made a name for herself.
She could finally be known as the cold hearted medusa from the FBI. Well, she wasn't well known outside of the FBI, buts that wasn't the point. Her whole life revolved around the American Government.
When your whole family has lived in the American Government, you learn to not question but stand up. You learn to make your own name.
