Y/N's POV

"So basically the one who crashed the alliance is you (Vijay). You accidentally ended up here as Arjun? You guys aren't supposed to say that you have a twin? That is why you created all the ruckus? Is that right?" I walked right to left, explaining to Vijay (more like explaining to myself) who is sitting on the ground in front of me, eating a mango our gardener uncle plucked for him. We are now camped under a mango tree in our garden. I pulled Vijay away from our little house reunion (Vijay and Arjun's parents too came and now they're explaining to my parents why they hid about the twin thing, it seems). Here, I am trying to understand the events that happened in my timeline with Arjun's face included.

"Okay, so, an astrologer told that there should be only 'one inheriter' and the other shouldn't exist. So, your mother gave you up to a distant relative and you guys grew up without the knowledge of your twin?" I sat down in front of him. He wiped his mouth after eating the mango and threw the seed pod away. 

"Partly incorrect. I wasn't that away. You see 25 years ago people blindly believed everything a man under a name of the god says. But after fifteen years we were born, my parents missed me so much and decided to do any 'parigaaram' (offering or prayer to God) that would let us live together happily. So they visited another astrologer.."

I rolled my eyes. Seriously? But my parents really believed I have been possessed by a ghost when I acted up because they didn't let me go out with my friends so.... family goals?

Vijay continued " The second astrologer said that the rest of the world shouldn't know that we're twins until we turn 25, since our existence is only marked by the knowledge of the world, he asked my parents to keep this as a secret until we turn 25. So, whenever I enter this village, Arjun would be out of the city and I would be here as ' Arjun'." he smiled while saying this.

"I think I'm finally getting it. But when the alliance is already fixed to me and 'ARJUN', why did you come here?" I learned a little. I am delighted that this coincidence happened so that I am not engaged to Arjun, but Arjun is not the kind to leave it that easily, so I wonder why?

Vijay cannot maintain eye contact with me. He looks at me for some seconds and then shifts his gaze to the ground. His fingers are playing with the dry soil. With his other hand, he kept on combing his hair, nervously. He is the polar opposite of Arjun Reddy.

"Actually my parents wanted you to become the daughter-in-law of our family, through me." He said and his cheeks heat up. So, this whole time Arjun's parent's actually wanted me and 'Vijay'- their other son to marry? Hmm, interesting.

"We learnt that Arjun transferred to your college. We thought he doesn't know who you are so we didn't think of any possible issues. But..." This time Vijay dropped his eye contact out of guilt.

"But what Vijay?" I lifted his chin up with my fingers and made him face me.

"I was curious to meet you in person, after seeing you only in pictures for two years, and I came to know through my friend that you're the DJ at a party. So..."

"Wait wait which friend? Nobody even knows about me going there. Ethically I'm not even allowed!" My eyes grew big. Blood is thicker than water. These twins sharing a strong stalking strategy.

"Actually he is a staff and he had his hand in organizing the party secretly. He saw you coming to the party with one of his students and called me immediately, he said my angel is here!" His face went from full grin to regretful pout in seconds.

"My angel la?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Illanga... Your alias is Angel right... That is why I ..."

"Smart escape. Go on." I folded my arms and he continued.

"I was the one you met with and danced. Arjun somehow smelled that I am here and took me away and we had a fight." He said and got up. I quickly got up grabbing his hand and pulling myself up. I grabbed his collars and looked at him coldly.

"Who is the one to leave in the bathroom like that? Who spiked my drink?" Vijay's eyes are filled with guilt and fear.  

"I didn't spike your drink! neither Arjun! It was a mistake, you drank someone else's drink. They must have mixed heavy alcohol and you couldn't stand it. I took you to the bathroom so nobody to make your head clear.... about.. the video... the people in the video is not even us! Arjun just used a random video taken in the party that night to make you talk to him." 

What Vijay said infuriated me to the core. I pushed him off.

"Do I look like a funny joke to you? Do you know how much you guys influenced in my life? I was just doing rap battles and made a friend with a guy name Prabha after a long time! Now he vanished, and my only set of friends vanished! Because your stupid brother transferred me without my consent!! Who does he think he is! Who do you think you are? Look, I do not want to hear another word from you or him. Just make my life straight. I want my life back, as like it was untouched by your stupid brother." 

Vijay is leaning on the tree as I am inches away from poking his nose, while continuously poking his shoulder with my pointy nails. I can tell it hurts, he winced a little every time I did that.

"Madam, I will make this straight madam. I am also a professor at a university you're affiliated. I will try to make things straight for you madam. Trust me." His eyes became round and so sincere. I moved back and he took a long breath.

"Madam"

"what?"

"Once you restore your life, think about the marriage proposal. I actually wanted to say yes.. but I hated to have his identity to marry you. My parents thought they would reveal after the engagement, but I found that wrongful. This way is nice la? You and I can talk and know about the real us right?" Vijay had that coy smile while saying all this. His innocence in his 'proposal to understand each other' is pure.

I smiled. "Vijay, do you like dogs?"

He got confused and nodded.

"I mean, like big-big dogs?" I said and smiled and Vijay heard the barking of our pack of country dogs, running towards us.

"Ahhhh, Madam!!!" Vijay sprinted away once he saw the army of dogs running towards us.

Oh, man! This is going to be so much fun.

Vijay quickly climbed a dwarf mango tree and reached the highest branch of it.

"Rahul, leave him. Paavom!" I cannot contain laughter. I patted my chest as it physically aches after laughing for a long time. Vijay trying to shoo Rahul, our country dog, who is barking and running around the mango tree.

"Rahul! Vaa (come), leave him da. After all, you have to chase the other twin. Not this innocent one." I waved and Rahul went away after our gardener uncle tied his in distant.

I walked towards the tree and offered Vijay a hand. He slowly climbed down. He slipped while landing and fell on me, putting all his weight on me.

"Vijay!"

Arjun is walking fastly towards us. Vijay quickly stood up and moved away from me. 

"Hoi, hoi. No fight in my garden!" I stopped him, standing in between the twins.

"Okay Y/N, see you!" Vijay bid me goodbye and ran away from his angry brother, who got ready to run behind his brother but I stopped Arjun by grabbing his shoulders.

He looked at me briefly, and then at one of my hands on his shoulders. I quickly removed, but he grabbed my shoulders now.

"Tell me you won't marry my brother." His eyes are round, digging into my eyes, demanding an answer.

"Oh, sweetie. I won't" I slowly combed Arjun's hair through my fingers. He closed his eyes. I quickly grabbed his hair and pulled.

"and neither you !" 

Arjun winced and slapped my hand away from his hair.

"Why? Why not?" He grabbed my arms and shook me.

"Because I love Prabha," I said bluntly.

"Prabha?" He asked in disbelief.

"Yes. The same Prabha you bid with. I love Prabha." I said and walked away laughing, leaving Arjun shocked.
