F O U R

Sirens approach in the far distance.

Mark knows the police arriving is almost the end for his reign of terror over these people.

Carter looks over at Mary and pulls her close to him. He kisses her cheek and then her lips. "I love you Mary."

Mary shakes her head. "No." She protest. She knows what he is about to do. She does not want him to do this. He is just going to get hurt. She loves him too much to let him sacrifice himself like this.

Carter stands himself up and lunges at Mark while his back is turned away from the group. He tackles him to the ground and wrestles him for the gun.

Mark grunts as he is taken down. He rolls out from underneath Carter and stands himself back up.

Carter jumps up and grabs the gun, trying to yank it out of his hands so he can end this.

Carter grabs a hold of the gun for a split second before Mark takes it back, pulls it close to him to regain control, and positions his hand over the gun.

In the struggle, Carter's finger presses the trigger and the gun shoots a bullet out of the chamber.

Both Carter and Mark stop to assess the damage that has been done.

Carter stares at the face of Mary, already dripping in blood as the bullet wound in the center of her forehead bleeds.

She is dead. There is no doubt in anyone's mind. Her wounds are fatal. They just hope that she did not feel any pain when it happened.

Carter is stricken with guilt. Though he does not know he is the one who pulled the trigger, he feels he is responsible for the attack that ended her life. If he didn't act, maybe she would be alive. He wonders if he can get everyone else out of here and honor Mary's memory.

Katie screams as she looks up and sees her dead twin sister. They have never spent a moment apart from each other. Katie does not know what it's like to be an only child. There were times she wishes Mary was never born. But right now, she is regretting every thought she had about not having Mary.

"Now look what you've done, son." Mark shakes his head.

"Please don't hurt them." Carter tries to plead for everyone else's lives, knowing his is just about over. There is no way Mark will let him live after he attacked him like that. "Just let them all go." Carter drops his arms. There is no use in begging for his life. He has accepted that he is going to die.

Mark raises the gun and shoots Carter in the head. "No promises." He whispers as he drops dead in Mary's lap.

The death toll of tonight's party is now four of the original thirteen. Seven still need to die before the night can even end.

Any guesses as to who will be next? Mark knows who will be next.

The police have arrived and are now parked out front. Three cop cars block the driveway as one officer walks up the front walkway and knocks on the front door.

Mark hears the knock and walks over to the door.

He looks out the window and holds his gun up. "I've got hostages. Stay out there and I'll keep some alive!"

"I don't want any hostages to die son. Let me in and we can talk." The officer raises his hands to show Mark he has no weapons.

"Stay out there!" He shouts.

The cop is frustrated. This is not his first hostage negotiation and defiantly not his last. However, no matter how many times you go through this, you can never get used to it. Every situation is different.

"Let's talk a little." The cop steps closer. "How many you got inside?"

"I don't answer to you!"

"I just want to know a few things. I'm not coming inside. Just like you said. I'll stay out here. You know all of them?"

"I'll kill one each time you ask me a goddamned question!" Mark shouts, shooting the ceiling as a warning shot.

The cop nods and rushes back to the car.

"Call for back up. We've got live hostages and an active shooter inside. He's got a gun." The officer fills the others in.

They frantically talk in to their radios to get as many officers out here as they can.
